Bill Walton because Bob Ryan says so. No really he is in the Top 5 discussion after you read his take, I was always sort of Big O / Magic-Larry but Pete is overrated because oddly enought he would have been a better Globetrotter, ironic ay?, versus an NBA allstar. Too tough to come up with a singular in college or pro, have to break it down by position. For centers throw in Shaq...sorry to say but the guy was the immovable object and if he got the ball in the paint forget about it.

For sure....he would have broken all scoring records if there was a 3 point shot back then.....

Ernie DiGregorio honorable mention....
Being a Providence fan, I saw almost every game Ernie D played in and he was a smaller version of the Pistol. He was a magician with the basketball in the same manner as Maravich. Both were very entertaining players to watch back then.

Wabash, this is wjy you continue to be one of the best posters here. And all those nere'dowells think your just a pony putz! Ernie D rocked on the team that is historically the MOST FUCKED OVER TEAM BY THE OFFICIALS and last night we saw it onece again. Oh sure they evened things out in the middle of the game...sort of, but they fucked Provy early and the fucked Provy late and that is recipe for failure. I cannot 100% blame refs however because Friars missed a ton of shots that should have went down but still it is still extremely hard to hook a win in such an ugly defensive scrum when the refs are not seeing things evenly...totally caught up in the Ohio hoopla or what ever...maybe they were starstruck by seeing Moray Povich in the crowd clinking plastic beer cups with Drew Cary or something. Any which way they sucked! Officiating needs to mporve in this era and there may not be an easy resolve to that. fffffffffffffffffffkkkkkkkkkkk

Check out this short clip that has some awesome assists by Ernie D. The pass he made to Kevin Stacom(#25) at the :22 mark is amazing!

Those stats are mind-boggling.

career 44% fg. he was shooting the ball 40 even 50 times a game. dad was the coach.

Bernard King stats are just as impressive. 3 time SEC POTY in his 3 year career. Career average 26 pts , 13 boards on 59% fg.

You say some really dumb things in here. BWHAAHHAAHAHHAHA comparing Bernard King to Pete Maravich.

Like the time you said Ginobli was just an average player. I'm beginning to think you're racist against white basketball players?

Think about this, Maravich was a long-shot bomber that played without a 3 point line. They replayed his games, and estimated that
he'd have averaged at least 7 more points per game with a 3 point line. That gives him 51 points per game AVERAGE. And, you're
comparing him to Bernard King.

BWHHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

dozens of guys could have averaged 44 ppg if they shot 50 times a game playing for their daddy. he averaged over a shot a minute for his college career. thats like every possession.

i think a player that goes 10 for 17 every night with 13 boards is more valuable than a guy that shoots 18 for 45 taking a shot every 50 seconds.. if that makes me racist so be it.

im not arguing King was better but if you ask guys that played against both ...King would win the vote. ask the SEC coaches and media from the 70's, again King would win the vote. many NBA players would even tell you King was better than MJ in the NBA before the knee injury

id say Lew Alcindor was the best ever if i had to pick one because he like never lost.

Pete didn't bring in unprecedented sell-out crowds (and TV stations playing his games instead of Johnny Carson at night) because he was a gunner playing for "daddy."

Show me "many NBA" players that said King was better than Jordan. Show me. Let's see the evidence.
