You'ld have to practically be out in the wilderness alone forever to do that.

You can take safety precautions (mask wearing, etc) to greatly lower your risk close to 0%, but you can't keep others who act foolishly from putting you in danger. For example, a grocery store manager who walks up to within 2 feet of you while talking to you & releasing virus out of his mouth. That's how easy it is for some fool to kill you.

Dramatic much? First you won't ever go back to a bar now the virus kills you?

You're getting more dramatic than Bengals.

HAHA Not true at all. Now a grocery worker is going to walk within 2 feet of me? Whats he going to do sneak up on me?? lol come on man. Get over it. We have counties, entire counties in New England with 0 cases.

You people need to get some fresh air and turn off the media! You sound paranoid as fuck.

It is a dangerous virus and it should be taken seriously, exactly what I have been saying all along, but you act like you can't live your life which is a whole lotta BS propaganda.

Don't even bother. It's the same guy that said he won't go back to a bar for a long time if ever. This site is full of giant pussies.

It happened to me. I'm standing 6 feet away & he walks right past me, about 2 feet away, while talking at me face to face. There's nothing you can do to stop someone from doing that. And it is happening a lot. There are many reports of this kind of stuff.

Also many reports of people spitting in food, spitting on other things in public, even spitting on other people (obviously nutjobs).

Moreover you are told to wash your hands frequently. Why? Because if you touch certain areas of your face with the virus on your hand you can easily infect yourself. And the virus is all over the place on surfaces where it can last for weeks waiting for you to touch it & then touch their face. Since many people are going to touch their faces anyway, out of years of habit of doing so, in-spite of the warnings, having washed hands reduces their risk, but not to 0% by any means. Many of such people have been & will get infected.

Irrelevant. The virus hasn't probably reached other out of the way places, like Antarctica - yet - either. It will, or would have - in great force - without continued economic shutdowns & or social distancing & other safety measures.

I'm getting plenty of fresh air & living life just fine. I can do without a lot of useless or nonessential stuff.

He's talking about me. Not on my ignore list. Not yet, anyway, lol. Though i do tend to ignore him most of the time (hint: scrolling by).

If i ever go back to a public place full of people, e.g. a bar or hockey game, etc, i intend to practice social distancing (6 feet away, etc) & wear a protective mask/shield type of thingy. Even if COVID-19 were eliminated, it won't be the last such killer ever & i'm in the higher risk demographic for the flu as well.

Now it can last on surfaces for weeks??? You got bad information dude..... Sorry.

Multiple things I've read are all in the same ballpark.
Can stay on materials that are porous like cardboard/paper for a few hours ect...
Can stay on materials like plastics/metals longer, a few days

Nothing I have seen is weeks, not even close.

Here is the CDC website for cleaning the virus if you're concerned it got into your house.

The irony of him calling people pussies when you block people after totally making you look like a fool.

You should ask him why he thought this would be over in a month and then lied about it.

OTOH:

"One aspect that has been unclear is exactly how long Sars-CoV-2, the name of the virus that causes the disease Covid-19, can survive outside the human body. Some studies on other coronaviruses, including Sars and Mers, found they can survive on metal, glass and plastic for as long as nine days, unless they are properly disinfected. Some can even hang around for up to 28 days in low temperatures."

There also has been some concern that the virus can be airborne for about 3 hours. So if someone sneezes outside & you walk by without a mask on a couple hours later on a windy day. Well, you get the picture.

Moreover another concern has been the idea that a sneeze can send the virus much further than 6 feet. So if one is in a grocery store & another person sneezes in your direction from 10, 20 feet away, well, again, you get the picture.

Wear a mask for your safety & that of others.

BBC?? Really?

So not a government resource but a newspaper? Cool mang

And I do wear a mask, and take many other precautions. Maybe you guys should that way you don't have to worry so much or spread false propaganda from newspaper article that is over a month old. The experts have learned more since then.

The BBC article provided a link to the research done on the matter.

The article stated:

"One aspect that has been unclear is exactly how long Sars-CoV-2, the name of the virus that causes the disease Covid-19, can survive outside the human body. Where have you provided any more recent info about how long coronaviruses may last in "cool temperatures".

Note: up to - 28 DAYS - in cool temperatures.

So maybe on something you put in the fridge or freezer?

The CDC doesn't report anything on temperature as far as I can see.

Cornell (just posting cause its fundamentally opposite of your BBC article not that the BBC is wrong and this is right, just perspective taking).
Current guidance indicates that there is:

  • No viable virus after four hours on copper surfaces.
  • No viable virus after 24 hours on cardboard surfaces.
  • No viable virus after four days on plastic and stainless steel. The virus is greatly reduced after 72 hours.
