Will your boy from Sioux City(Wegher) be a Heisman candidate in coming years?

My guess he has a better shot than Stanzi ever will........lol.

Wegher maybe in a few years, gonna be tough behind Brinson and Hampton , I look for Wegher to be the next Tim Dwight, except he kicks 45yd fgs also, maybe better then what we have know..some are saying he is Nile Kinnick reincarnated!

I'm really concerned that he will meet up to all his expectations and I'm taking a wait and see approach.

High school highlights(especially from Iowa) do nothing to overly impress me...........been burned to many times by watching these in the past. I would be a terrible high school scout. :)

A couple questions......

1. Do you think he will be red-shirted next season?

2. If not, I could see him starting at wide reciever next season.

Benn is great and very unnoticed.

How good will Illinois be next year though?

Zook is going to get great players in there every year. What he is able to do with them is the question. If Benn were OU, Texas, Texas Tech, or even Okie State, everyone in the world would know his name. The kid is unreal even with a high school quarterback throwing to him. His situation at Illinois is very similiar to Calvin Johnson's during his time at Tech. Great players whose numbers were hampered by playing with shitty quarterbacks (Reggie Ball).

From what i heard around here is that he will not be red-shirting but will be used mostly on special teams next year, returning kicks, punts, and maybe even kicking some longer fgs, and he will get some touches on offense as a rb and slot receiver.

Don't know if you heard of Keenan Davis but he is a 4star reciever from Ceder Rapids who played in that army all american game last week , they say he is the real deal and maybe our most talented reciever we had in sometime...he is suppose to get plenty of playing time right away at wr.

So i think these two with Hampton, Brinson, and DJK ...we will have lots of playmakers on offense next season... lets hope Stanzi can elevate his play next year and cut down on some of his turnovers or they maybe calling for VanderBerg and Weinke at QB, and VanderBerg has been very impressive, thats why Jake has announced he is transferring out...he doesnt have a chance in starting again at the U of I!!

Speaking of Jake transferring..I heard Wegher is gonna get the #6 now...that will bring back some Tim Dwight Memories seeing him returning punts wearing ol #6!

Also a very sad day for Hawkeye football..not sure if you been following the Eddie Podolak story , but he announced his retirement from broadcasting after 27yrs.. actually he was forced out after them pictures of him hit the internet after he had a few to many drinks at the OutBack NewYears Partys in Tampa! Eddie is gonna be missed!

Thanks for the Update!!!

I was aware of all the above except for the Podolak story..........wow!

I was actually attempting to look up Eddie down here and was never able to hook up with him..............was planning on having a couple beers with him.

What exactly did the pics reveal? Do you have a link to them?

Thanks,
FH

I see you found them....I originally saw them on the Iowa State Message Board, I think thats where they originated..them Cyclones are loving this after the fun we had with Eustacy a few years ago! HA!

But Ed will be missed.. I had beers with him a few years back in Minneapolis..he loves to drink, but a great guy! I grew up listening to him and Jim Zabol..it was hard when Zabol left , it will be even harder without Eddie.Remember back in the 90's he was busted on campus for pub intox passing out on campus lawn on a football sat night in iowa city...Eddie was great! I guess with this being the 2nd incident, it was the final staw...bummer!

It's gonna be the same 3 so this really is a moot discussion. Snead deserves a mention, but playing tough SEC defenses will keep him from attenting NYC I think.

And here's your color guy:
