Who are the best and worst posters? by Stephen Nover

So Stephen made one small mistake. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.-

But look on the bright side. He put both jjgold and Railbird, the 2 biggest morons on this site on his worst list.

Stephen, keep up the great work, and I am looking forward to your input on Inside The Lines, a sports gambling radio show, here in Toronto this coming fall.

As much shit as I've given JJ, he probably shouldn't be on the Worst List either. In fact, the whole idea of a "list" is elitist and serves no purpose other to enlarge the egos of those who make it onto the "best" list and to insult those on the "worst" list.

People can make up their own minds who they like and who they'll listen to or trust.

There is more than being a good poster than just saying some bullshit gambling theory and are good with some numbers or lingo.

One reason COULD be that they see <certain posters> who shill up sinking shit books like NAB while pulling their money out the back door. I won't mention any names in order to protect these <certain posters>.

Another reason posters are leaving is exactly BECAUSE of this "I'm a better poster than you are" bullshit. So-called professional gamblers who think they're better than someone else or have more of a right to express their opinions because they happen to bet more money. Hell, I would trust Joe Square $5 bettor than these professional sharks... because the square is gonna be honest, while the pro makes his living by deceiving those who aren't in the "pro-bettors mutual masturbation society". EVERYone should be free to post their opinions without being subjected to the elitist bullshit implied by such a list. What Nover is doing is telling you WHO (and worse, who NOT) to listen to... people who have agendas and reasons to deceive... which smacks of FASCISM.

that same reasoning you use, the defense or right for people to be heard out, is exactly what gives a right of voice to an opinion poll like that one. It does not smell of fascism in that it does not imply it's view are final or in any way binding. It can be of course, motivated by petty trivial squabbles, or an agenda courting a group over another in someone's opinion, and could also be a slandering campaign. But the main point is, as much as this is biased against some people, the posters have a right, that constitutes the basis for free opinion forums, therefore we as readers and posters, have to respect such things as protected by the same establishment we enjoy and use. Yet, it is also your duty, as it is of all of us, to voice out, rave, rant and bitch accordingly to the volumen needed to be heard out, or dismissed as it is prregative to our audience, but the importamt thing is, to keep on doing it. As objectively as one can, and even when not, remember as subjective and biased as opinions, they are such because they ARE opinions.

Yet one cannot help but wonder, is elitism, or just plain bias, dissuading good posters from doing so, or is it the exagerated amount of bad trash posted, so much it discourages people from posting? One wonders how much bad mouth campaigns dissade people out of here, or are just the bigger egoes hurt in the process?

Come on guys let's not get carried away, this is just the input Nover recieved back from the posters. For the record I do not agree with Peep on the 10 worst list either but that's just my opinion. Wouldn't dream of putting him there. In fact there are others I 'm not sure I agree with either but it's not the end of the world if others disagree. These thing are very opinion based so there is no way everyone will be happy with the results.

I hope I don't get in trouble for saying this but I did not participate in this at all. I respect Nover a great deal but I passed entirely on this one. I'd rather focus on positives.

I see your point, Mannie. But this smells more like a smear article than someone with an opinion. Someone with a semi-official standing who used his front page status to tell others who to listen to (or not). It's like if the food critic of the NY Times has something against a restaurant owner and then writes an article about how their food tastes like shit. The author does have an absolute right to their "opinion", but the readers should know what is behind the curtain.

I haven't been here long enough to know enough posters for top and worst 10.

However, I think that JJ would be in the unique position of being on BOTH my top 10 and worst 10.

Top 10 because: very entertaining. keeps the forum interesting. brings out the truth, by making statements requiring correction. keeps some topics from dying too soon.

Worst 10 because: he shifts with the wind quicker than a child's balloon. talks trash without backing up facts. Gives us WAY too much info on his sex life.

So, JJ keep up the Good/Bad work!

The forum wouldn't be the same without you. Happy 4th!

I wouldn't try to find a person to say something bad about Peep. What would that prove? Everyone here has people who respect them and maybe despise them as well. There's more to a person than a list. Anyway the person that can address specifics on this is Nover. Not sure if he will or not but only he knows how many lists he got back and how many listed Peep. I can guarantee you I wasn't involved in this at all.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it necessarily but we have enough fireworks around here year round without it being the 4th of July.

Yes, i understand your concern, sometimes people write pretending to harbor the voice of objectivity, and inneviatbly, using the facade of saying this is not my opinion, BUT the tabulated views of we all, so basically, this is not opinion it is someone claiming to be voice for all, so therefore, voicing an ultimate and final judgement.
