According to Baseball Almanac there are 13 catchers in the Hall of Fame:
Mauer has the highest single season BA .365 ever by a catcher
Mauer to this point has the highest lifetime BA ever by a catcher .328
Mauer has a higher OBP than any catcher in history other than Mickey Cochrane
Mauer has a higher SLG PCT than all H of Fame catchers except Campenella, Harknett & Berra

3 batting titles as much as all other catchers in the history of baseball combined

Already compared to the Hall of Fame Catchers Mauer is in the top echelon! A lock no, 5 more comparable years at
his previous pace yes!

The question was is he a lock for the Hall of Famer right now? The answer very clearly for Mauer is no he is not. Maybe down the road but not right now. Fact.

Mauer needs to stay healthy for him to get to the Hall, and he has a hard time doing that.
I like the kid, a lot, but his days of catching 140 games a season are over, shame.

Mauer HAS a long way to go. Especially if he makes 1st base his normal position.

Which isn't his.
He's keeping it warm for Mouneau, who was supposed to be another one on the fast track to the Hall.

Twins do have plans to move him.
He will not be a catcher in 5 years.

Mauer has a better chance to make the H of F than any other player today with only 6 full years in the majors! Right now if a SBook made odds on whether he'd get in to bet yes you'd have to bet 170 to win 100. Only 13 Catchers in Hall, look up Rick Ferrel's stats.

Great player but you are talking about a guy with a bad injury history with only 6 years in the league.
Saying Mauer is a HOF lock is a big reach.

With his inury issues it would definately not be -170. No way in hell.

Personallly, I think King Felix and Evan Longoria are guys with under 6 years that have way better chances but that's just me.

According to estimates we've compiled from Alan Greenspan, Goldman Sachs and Kei Igawa Corporate Headquarters, the Yankees have spent about $93 billion on free agents over the years. But have any of them earned their billions more than CC Sabathia?

Sheez, is this guy a winning machine, or what? He won 19 games in his first season in New York, went 21-7 last year and cashed in 16 more wins this season before he even flipped the calendar to August.

Now "wins" may not be the most revealing stat on modern-day earth in telling us how pitchers are actually pitching. But it tells us something in this case. If CC just wins three more games this season, here's what it would tell us about him:

• He'd be the first pitcher to win 19 games or more in three straight seasons since Randy Johnson did it for the 2000-02 Diamondbacks.

• And the first to do it in the AL since Dave Stewart ripped off four 20-win seasons in a row for the 1987-90 A's.

• And just the fifth to do it in the free-agent era, joining only Stewart, the Unit, Tom Glavine (1991-93) and Jim Palmer (1976-78).

• Shockingly, CC would be only the fourth Yankees pitcher ever to win 19 or more in three straight seasons -- and no, Whitey Ford, Ron Guidry and Andy Pettitte never did it. The three who did (Jack Chesbro, Red Ruffing and Vic Raschi) pulled it off between 1903 and 1951.

• Here's the proof the Yankees have gotten their $69 million worth: CC would be the first free-agent starter ever to do this in his first three seasons after signing with a new team. Which means, apparently, Darren Dreifort and Chan Ho Park fell just a little bit short.

Jujenns? Before this season started was barely a .500 pitcher, not even close, CC's been winning 17 games for decade. Jurjens is this decade's Mike Boddicker.
Vogelsong? This one made me laugh. Vogelson :missingte he's been in the majors for 10 years with 18-23 lifetime record.

Cueto :missingte Just stop now, you are embarassing yourself

Jurrjens sure fell off, but Vogelsong (even with this sorry season) and Cueto have both pitched better since this post in 2011

sigh, you accidently contribute to my point

hallf of fame voters look at career numbers. they dont take their first 10 years and double it . CC's ERA and WHIP will undoubtedly rise overt he next few years.

its obvious im talking to rocks. so im done until CC turns 37

CC will turn 34 on Monday. Don't look like he makes it to 37.

It all depends on who the voting gods declare steroid free with there magic "they can tell just be looking at a player who took steriods and who did not machine".

There is absolutely no reason for Thome not to be a HOF'er. NONE

Look at his numbers vs Kilabrew. Almost identical with Thome being better.

There should be a lot more then 3 lock.

Pujois is in unless the roid voting gods determine that he may have stepped in the same room with Jose Canseco.

I dont care, AROD should be there.

Roy Haliday is a lock.
Omar is a lock
Pudge is a lock
Ichiro is a stone cold lock
Big popi getting close unless the voting gods say otherwise

A good number of players will work themselves in the picture in the next few years.

People like Miguel Cabrerra, Paul Konerko etc...

Jesus Christ maybe the worst post in Internet history.
