so let me get this straight:
1) Marcus Mariota is a "once in a generation qb" in college football (so ridiculous you have said it at least 3x)
2) Blake Sims is a "big hole to fill" - you mean like the 5th year senior RB that became de facto qb after about 6 guys transferred and he was cut by the Toronto Argonauts in his first week of practice?
seriously
I do think Alabama has a big hole to fill. In today's age of college football it becomes hard to score (especially in the sec) when you don't have a viable qb to distribute the football to your playmakers. Blake sims stepped into a horrendous situation where he was basically expected to fail and very few people had confidence in him. I thought he played rather well but wasn't a true Qb and that in return hurt Alabama. Alabama won a few very close games last season, and had it not been because of piss poor QB play by those other teams bama would have lost three games and everyone would have thought the world was coming to an end. My point is this: you don't replace a mariota, you just hope to get somewhere close to a capable replacement. Alabama on the other hand can no longer play the same football they did all the way up to last season. Lane kiffin and Saban tapped into that teams athletic potential by opening up into a spread. But..... And this is a huge but..... If they can't find a viable option at QB to run that style of offense, Alabama will lose games they really shouldn't. They have the best recruiting in the nation hands down, and one of if no the best coaches in America..... So why are they not winning titles anymore? This is just my opinion but I feel it's because Saban can't recruit the right QB for that offense. Maybe Blake Barnett will get it done, but what are they going to do this year? You can't run the ball with Henry 40 times a game and win in the sec now a days.... Stanford refuses to change and look how that's working for them now.... Teams are figuring them out...
if if saban and kiffin get the right QB bama should run teams off the field with their overall talent. End of story.
