• NBC’s Sunday Night Football drew 22.5 million viewers, the show’s best viewership ever for SNF on NBC, and according to NBC, the best-ever for the NFL’s premier primetime package in 19 years (22.7 million for ABC’s MNF in 1996). SNF’s viewership increased six percent from last season (21.3 million viewers) and NBC said the show is on pace to rank as the No. 1 show in U.S. household rating and viewership for the entire primetime television season for the fifth consecutive year (September-May season, based on Nielsen live plus same day data), which would make it one of only four TV shows since 1950 to accomplish that feat (American Idol, The Cosby Show, All In The Family, and Gunsmoke).

30 years from now we will just have one national team, the United States Red Army Team.

7 points for blowing opponent
3 points for knitting a sweater
2 points for killing anyone who kneels for the national anthem (oh the irony)
1 point added on to the final score of whichever team tested with the highest estrogen levels before the game started

Go win one for the motherland.

Last new team = Houston, 2002

So the TV ratings are down in 2016, because the NFL watered-down their product in 2002?

Makes sense. Guess it took people 10+ years to realize they weren't interested in the watered-down product.

Wasn't the question , where it will it be in 20 or 30 years ? Not where is it now.

30 years from now, less kids playing football, most likely means less talented football players.

And I never brought up ratings.. Was only talking about the talent pool, and my personal opinion of liking fewer teams to spread that talent around to.

NFL will still be number one with the NBA creeping up on them. I could see the NBA beating the NFL with the key 18-52 demo, but losing overall. MLB will continue to decline and MLS replaces NHL as the 4th major league. NHL closes up shop or moves to a primarily canadian league with fewer than 8 American franchises.

Last night’s WS game had 35% more viewers than Sunday Night Football.

Last week’s big Cavs/Knicks game drew 2 million viewers. You obviously need a better hot take.

Why are you comparing apples to oranges?

Last night World Series = the friggin Cubs, in an elimination game (I think the best ratings in 5 years for WS game)

And you're comparing to regular-season NFL, and a first-week NBA game.
