Did Joe Montana pitch a fit when Steve Young was drafted......

Young actually signed with the LA Express of the USFL and played there a season or two before the league went under. From there he signed with the Tampa Bay Bucs and played a couple of seasons there before being traded to SF to be Montana's backup. I believe at the time, it wasn't that controversial since Young was sort of considered a bust in Tampa and was strictly being signed as the backup to Montana with no threat to take his job.

It wasn't until 4 or 5 years in when things started to get a little weird with talk of Montana eventually losing his job to Young as Montana was showing some signs of aging and dropping off.

But Montana took his game to another place because he wanted to continue to play. I dont remember him threatening SF. It was probably done behind closed doors like most reasonable adults would do.

Yup, that is how it should be and was done. Now in the NFL and NBA they cry like little bitches to the press and everyone. Hard to root for anyone anymore sadly.

... would leap to top contender status immediately.

Rodgers is a jerk, but I am guessing Rodgers wanted this long ago but kept his mouth shut all year until it was apparent GB was not going to trade him.

Last draft they took a back up developmental QB when they were in need of a WR or TE to go to the Super Bowl what a blunder, what a joke.

They also took a RB 2nd rd in AJ Dillon, then paid Aaron Jones decently well this offseason. If you're gonna pay Jones why spend that high of draft capital on RB.

Let their pro bowl C walk in FA to LAC. Just a pretty poorly run org even though they have drafted some studs (Alexander, Adams, Bahktiari)

Do you honestly think they could have matched the Chargers offer and still retained other that they signed?

I think they could probably get more aggressive with maneuvering money around to maximize Rodgers window.

But even besides that, probably better to retain your center than a RB after you drafted his replacement.

My bet would be he stays in Green Bay for one last year. Then it gets even more nasty next year to the point they trade him.

But... If Rodgers and the Packers are completely done and this is irreparable, then I think he gets traded to Denver. That trade may already be in place and could happen in June. Might be the reason why Denver passed on a QB in the draft.

I don't see under any circumstances him being traded to an NFC team. So cross those teams off your lists.

One other thing I think you gotta give Rodgers is that he isn't 25 like Watson, just signed an extension, never won anything and trying to rule the roost. He's 38 next season, probably only has a few more high level years left. He's had a lot more injuries in his career than Brady/Brees who played longer. And even Brees was propped up last few years by his teammates/playcalling.

Kinda now or never for him, he's no spring chicken whether you agree w/ his tactics or not.

They tried to moved money around but Rodgers refused an extension I believe

Zero chance he plays in GB next year.

Pack shoulda traded him. Perhaps they are too stupid of an organization to?
