No, it's not a regular traffic stop.

A regular traffic stop involves a police officer viewing a driving infraction of some sort. A DUI checkpoint involves no infraction. They are different things. At a DUI checkpoint, you are being stopped whether you've committed an infraction or not.

Not sure if this was your point or not but at a DUI checkpoint legally you do not have to show your ID even though you are driving a motor vehicle. Unless you commit an infraction or they suspect you of being drunk/under the influence. You can simply say no thanks and drive away. Will that work and they will let you drive off? Probably not but that's the law...

If you look on youtube there are tons of people that do just that. Carry an assault rifle around a police station (open carry), take pictures of federal buildings, call cops assholes (freedom of speech), etc.

Because they are public servants who work for the public and people want to see how their tax dollars are being spent and how that goes to use. And also, how people who work for the public treat the public. They want to see all of that.

It’s your right to film the police. And it’s the one thing that keeps them in check....because nobody else will. No one or no thing in the world will hold the police more accountable than a camera.

I didn’t know this truthfully. But I’m aware that it is illegal to even conduct these dui checkpoints in some states. Violates the constitution in some states. They don’t even have them as options in certain states.

Completely agree, I have no problem with people filming the police (or public servants). Look at how many times its caught cops acting in the wrong, or in many cases BREAKING the law. That should continue and think allowing it has helped catch the dirty cops and actually (hopefully) cause change. But doing it just to get a reaction and instigate them, I don't understand that and never will. I would never go up to a cop and say fuck you in his his face over and over just to do because it's my right. and some States will Allow you to get off the line leading to a checkpoint. Like let's say you are 2 blocks away and can see what they are doing ahead, you turn down a street and avoid it.
