There's absolutely zero reason for him to do that. He would be taking a bet he'd assuredly lose. You, on the other hand, have the opportunity to take a +EV bet even if the sample size is smaller than you'd like or prefer. The two aren't similar.

The two still aren't similar. You're comparing a sure loser to a +EV bet. I get that you're not comfortable taking the bet based on sample size, and I agree that it is a valid concern.
