And there we have it.

A line of thinking that is optimistic and enthusiastic about the future of both America and the world at large

And a line of thinking that pretty much thinks we are all doomed to a horrible, terrible future

Choose this day who ye will serve

Choose wisely

The US has seen great improvements in virtually every 25 year block of its history. There is no reason to think the next 25 years will be any different. Just as the American political landscape is much better than it was 25 years ago, it will be that much better 25 years from now

I just don't see the political landscape being better today than it was 25 years ago

in 1990 we had possibly the most qualified man ever, in 2015 we have the least qualified man ever

in 1990 we had a man the respected that other side of the aisle and worked with them to pass bipartisan legislation. In 2015 we have a man who blames every hiccup on the other side of the aisle, while literally taking credit the very next day if good news comes out on the very same topic.

In 1990 and all the way through 2008 we had presidents that tried to be presidents for all the people. Since 2008 we have a president that tells certain demographics to "know your enemies". Those enemies, of course, are republicans.

in 1990, we were still progressing with respect to racial relations. In 2015, we've moved backwards in that regard and they're probably worse today than they were in 1990.

In 1990, we still had some respect for the Constitution. In 2015 we have a monarchy, and the founder fathers are treated more like crackers

I'm sorry, there's no fucking way the political landscape is better today, it's closer to the worst it's been since the civil war

Totally agree except for the race relations part.

Since the sixties white America has worked very hard to be accepting of black people. Martin Luther King's vision of an America where a man's character defined him rather than his skin color was embraced by whites. But it is becoming increasingly clear that it is not embraced by a very large segment of the black population who do not want to integrate with whites at all. They preach differences and division. Sadly our President and former Attorney General are in the vanguard of that thought process. His race spokesman who has been to the White House many (I've read over 50) times, Al Sharpton, is a race hustler. His former preacher and spiritual advisor has publicly demonized America (white America) many times.

Thugs like Michael Brown are hallowed. The (white) cop who scuffled with him during routine police work loses his job and is demonized. The President sends three representatives to the thug's funeral. The message is division.

In my opinion, race relations are at their worst in a very long time. We need black healers to step forward soon. Preferably Democrats. Where are they?

Not gonna pull any punches here. The white people I talk to have noticed. And what they notice is hardly good for race relations.

Over the next 25 years the past 20+ years of reduced ability for government agencies to lie to the public they serve will expand, so it is logical to presume that most government operations ranging from military to education to health and human services will be less able to unduly exploit the populace.

This increased knowledge for the population at large will be reflected globally by a reduction in ignorance about how other people in other parts of the world live. Increased knowledge reduces irrational fear. Reduced irrational fear leads to a reduction in violence and killing.

Sure, there will likely still be a lot of people who promote one or more fears in order to justify their violent and murderous behaviors, but they will have a shrinking audience when they propose killing people who may very well be in direct communication with other people who live in the country promoting violence

Finally, make no mistake. The human beings of 2040 will be more highly evolved than the people of today, just as today's people are more highly evolved than those who preceded them.

I say this all in all seriousness, how does someone get to age 55 and be this stupid? I mean, there is no evidence, anywhere at all, to support these idiotic ideas.

As an example, 30 years ago, ISIS wasn't barnstorming through the Middle East, yet there were no smart phones and magical apps to communicate with people. Further, if one spends five minutes reading about what is going on in the world (Hundreds of kidnapped Nigerian school girls reportedly sold as brides to militants for $12, relatives say) you can see that there are massive populations that live no differently than 200 or 300 years ago.

There is no rational reason to believe that "increased knowledge reduces irrational fear" (what about when increased knowledge increases rational fears?), but it is a warm & fuzzy talking point.

The US Federal Government has become so big, so unable to function, that it does nothing but serve itself. The idea that the government will somehow be "good" because, I guess to due this magical evolution you are comically referring to, is silly. I mean, in 2015 despite all this increased knowledge and "evolution" the government still does things like this and this every day.

It is funny, you can't seem to grasp that your own idiotic points are refuted by the real world as it exists today. (Do you understand that the government is less accountable in 2015 than it was in 1915? Can you take a moment to understand that fact does not bode well for the assertion that in 25 years the government will be tamed and unable to exploit people? Apparently not).

Finally, asserting that humans will be "evolved" in 25 years is so fucking dumb I can't believe someone would type it. But I do feel it worthy of pointing out that 80 years ago the average high school student could learn Latin and do long division. The millennial generation has an attention span of 14 seconds. But you go on humping this chicken.

More on Sgt Squirrel's bullshit:

However you choose to title it, God/Infinite Intelligence/Source Energy assures that each fresh expression of human comes hard-wired at a higher level of both intelligence and physical prowess than those who preceded them.

18 shot this weekend in Baltimore

I'd like to point out that Baltimore spends more money per pupil than any school district in America, save New York City's.

Can someone as dumb as Sgt understand that Baltimore and Detroit were better places to live in 1960 than they are today? Can he realize what that means for his dumb assertions than humans are evolving all this ignorance is going away?

so you're saying race relations are worse than I think, you may be right

but they were terrible in the 60's, so you can't go that far back

This article is a good read I think related to the topic but I wanted to excerpt this part per post #18:

Jerstin Crosby, a former graduate student at the University of North Carolina who now works as a computer artist, said the only direct encounter with the military he can remember was when he taught a Middle Eastern art course to airmen at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro, N.C.

He respected the airmen's knowledge of Iraq — some seemed to know it better than he did, for all his education — but was also sometimes baffled by them. Why, he wondered, did everyone on base stop their cars at 5 p.m. and stand at attention? Only later did he learn it was a daily show of respect as the nation's flag was lowered.
"I thought it was some kind of prank they were playing on me," he said.

:hammerit

So just because you went to graduate school (focus of study, not clear) you have all this "education" and active duty airmen "seem" to know more about Iraq than you do. I mean, my goodness, could that guy be any more ignorant? He can't even understand that his "education" on the topic is superficial and very, very limited.

One other part:

Southern states consistently provide the biggest proportion of recruits...The highest-rate contributors were Georgia, Florida, Idaho, Virginia and South Carolina. The District of Columbia was last.

Of course 2 weeks ago the fat Alaskan (Hi, I know you are reading) and vittard (Hi, I know you are reading) were squealing at how great America would be if conservatives didn't exist. Yeah, have fun with a 33,000 member active duty military and a 500% reduction in oil, natural gas, coal, and farming output.

Again, just idiots.

WILLIE99 writes with a tad bit of tongue in cheek, while honestly lamenting the clear future of the USA being increasingly less influenced by what white men over age 55 think is Best For All.

I type this as a 55 year old white man myself.

25 years from now...that's the year 2040

First, second and third generation immigrant families will likely be upwards of 35% Latino from somewhere south of the current US border. So naturally there will be increased benefit in both public and private businesses supporting a bilingual message.

That noted, by the year 2020, much less the year 2040, most people in the USA will have access to highly interactive apps on their phones and other cyber devices that allow for instant translation from most any langauge to another.

By the year 2040, most of what we currently communicate bia print will instead be communicated via another medium that includes some sort of touch screen interaction. A person will be able to simply touch anything written in English and have it instantly transcribed to the language of their choice.

Returning to population, we will see that "white" people in the USA will be a definitive minority, likely well under 50%. So political attention to "non-white" (Hispanics, Asians, Africans, South Americans etc) will logically expand.

The longstanding US-driven "War On Drugs" will be a distant memory, so the opportunities for goverment to arrest and imprison its citizenry will be reduced. Less people with criminal records will increase opportunities in both the educational and business world

More Americans than today will own their own business of one or more kinds. We have clearly reached a point in the year 2015 where the majority of "employee" jobs in America peak out at barely median household income. Smarter people will create in-house businesses selling and serving community needs that increase their financial options

Finally, make no mistake. The human beings of 2040 will be more highly evolved than the people of today, just as today's people are more highly evolved than those who preceded them.

However you choose to title it, God/Infinite Intelligence/Source Energy assures that each fresh expression of human comes hard-wired at a higher level of both intelligence and physical prowess than those who preceded them.

This is exciting news for anyone interested in living a longer than average (currently about 80 years) lifetime.

Bottom line, the future has never been brighter. Those who think otherwise will with sad irony experience exactly what they predict - a sad, below average future. Those of us who understand it will rock along, singing a song. Spending our days looking for ways to love one another and just plain feel good more often than not

how so? intellectually? physically?...hmm, well certainly dramatic changes in quality of food available for the masses will be needed; the genetically engineered, food additives have had significant collateral damage. Nearly 1/3rd of our planet is overweight and/or obese.

or perhaps science will be able to come up with a drug that taps one's full brain's potential? it would be a huge game changer. Apart from that don't understand your claim

as for America's future, she sure has challenges ahead of her. Globalization , free trade came with a price. And it appears the TPP shall go through, no rest for the weary; wage/environmental arbitrage with third world countries, its fair, no?................:)

I say this all in all seriousness, the near future of America sucks, the long term future of America sucks, all human beings are devolving and becoming increasingly stupid, how dare you even suggest that any part of our future will be better than it is today, when today obviously sucks and all you have to do is read one of these hundreds of weblinks I can paste which clearly show how the world today sucks and how the future of the world sucks even more.

But be clear it's not my fault. It's the fault of those other guys and if you had just listened to me many years ago, you would never have allowed those other guys to make everything suck. So therefore you are one of the ones responsible for America's future sucking.

I had absolutely nothing to do with it. If I were in charge, the world would not suck, it would rock.

I am persuaded you believe everything you wrote in that post. Thanks for sharing your peppy outlook. Make sure and share it with as many people as possible, especially young people.

Pretty amusing that the defining line for the intelligence of today's yutes is their inability to write in Latin and to do long division

Why a teenager in the year 2015 (or 2040) would need to know Latin is a mystery when he could - if called on - learn it in 12-18 months max thanks to foreign language software programs.

And why anyone of any age needs to know the mechanics of long division is another head-scratcher. I am pretty sure no one of any age spends much time doing arithmetic by hand in the year 2015

May as well criticize today's yutes for their non-use of cursive handwriting

in 1990. . . in 2015. . .

in 1990. . . In 2015. . .

In 1990. . . Since 2008. . .

in 1990. . . In 2015. . .

In 1990. . . In 2015. . .

So what you're saying is that so long as the letter next to the presidents name is the one you like things are great. And when the letter next to the presidents name is the one you dislike, things are horrible.

If you believe the party the president belongs to represents the entirety of whether things are good and bad, than it is hard to argue against such logic. For those of us who believe our own choices -- not the presidents choices -- determine whether things are good and bad, the logic doesn't hold up.

Just think, asshole, you are so stupid that you can't respond to what I said. You actually have to make up something and insert it under my name.

At age 55, no less. Let that sink in.

Except nobody claimed any "dividing line" idiot.

It was what is called an example. Do you know what that word means?

It is fucking hysterical you would just breezily assert that "software" would make someone learn a language. As if "software" is all that is needed.

How do people as stupid as you get through the day?

"Finally, make no mistake. The human beings of 2040 will be more highly evolved than the people of today, just as today's people are more highly evolved than those who preceded them."

It is so funny that the author of that drivel can't imagine that someone in 1985 could write the exact same thing.

Look at how "evolved" humans are in comparison to that time.

I didn't write that post, assclown.

But it is nice to note that you are so embarrassingly dumb that the entirety of your contributions on the topic consist of silly slogans and making stuff up.
