Many good thoughts here so far.

I tend to agree that any site promoteing offshore gambling would be in some sort of violation.

I think that its just a matter of time before something drastic happens to it, as we know it anyway.
I Never did depend soley on the offshore industry anyway, as many of the "ole timers" around here surely were playing long bfore that happened.

It very well could come back to the telephone and agents just like it used to be.

Anyone who thinks that it will get squashed in the Senate could be in for rude awakening.

Arent both Therx & eog headquartered in Canada?

Would US citizens/residents working for websites deemed to be actively promoting illegal activities possibly be in any trouble?

:puppy: are you serious? Yeah that would fly in court.

Wouldnt the Rx's profits increase? If you can still access a sportsbook by clicking on its banner at another site then it should. The RX is just advertising so wouldnt they charge more for it or could they not hang the banners either?

If Rx is in another country, I figure they can have the banners and everything else, but people in the usa won't be able to access the banner sites. Again, worst case scenario.

No matter what - people are still going to bet on sports and gamble in general. These forums only talk about the subject of gambling and IMO will become more popular if US punters are forced to find more devious ways to get down.. What better place to look for info than a forum like The Rx...Our advertisers deal with Rx. corporate offices in Canada so there is no problem (from US law) with them continuing to advertise here..

Personally I am not at all concerned about the future of these forums and if there is heat on people like myself for working here I can simply move offshore myself (nothing new for me)..

People would cause enough crap that it could be overturned if they ever did anything. I am sure they thought the same thing during prohibition. :drink:

The only way therx makes thier money is when we click these banners, deposit our money and lose our money.

If these banners don;t work for U.S. based IPS then rx doesn't make any money!

But yes we are putting the cart in front of the horse at this point.

One thing that no one mentions is these offshores are making 16 BILLION anually.

WTF who's losing all this money,no one here from what I read.

Kids are in college and betting online before they even have a career

They come out of college with our lifelong habit and they must pay any student loans they may owe and blah blah blah

16 billion and our politicians are to stubborn to let Nevada just set up and lets be done with it!

Where do you get that figure? I've seen estimates that offshore gambling is a $10 billion industry but can't see how that equates to offshores making $16 billion.

I got that figure from reading the articles posted on this site.

10 billion 16 billion every 12 months but who's counting?

What will happen to the Rx and EOG and places such as these two when the internet gambling STOPS???

What percentage of gamblers and posters are not USA residents?

I think the Rx and sportsbooks would continue to thrive if the USA
was relocated to another universe.

I am Canadian.

People do seem to forget that it isn't only americans that gamble online...

I don't think people will really care if this bill passes. They'll keep gambling and probally consider it their own personal 'up yours' to the government. Prohibition doesn't work.

The problem is that many US bettors could be turned away from the site = less revenue for books = less revenue for the Rx. If they really go through with banning through ISP the Rx would take a huge hit as this is exactly the type of site that would be targeted first (see Washington state). Hardly anybody other than the core posters would go through the trouble of dealing with proxys. Yea the Rx would still be around but no doubt it would take a hit. Honestly SHOCKED that the Rx hasn't made any type of stand or rally

I think its a reasonable question to ask, dont you?

Or are you posting what you wish to happen rather than what is likely to happen or actually happening?

I dont want these sites to be bothered, but why wouldnt they be if ISP are told to block online gambling sites?

If you think this law or proposed law will not at all effect offshore gambling, you are wishing upon stars rather than viewing reality.

PKJ is spot on with his post.

I will go on record saying that nothing national will happen within the next 2 years, and probably not the next 8, if ever.

Don't believe the hype
