What are you trying to do? You didn't incur any injury, so I doubt you have any legal claim for anything... If you don't want to blackmail them, then you really have no options except maybe selling the tape to a local news outlet.
Why are you even asking a bunch of degenerate cynical gamblers? If you think you have something, go to a lawyer.

Allworld, I am about to give you some great advice - this will take you away from the broke miserable life you currently live in - call up McDonald's headquarters (not the local branch) - that's where the BIG money is - tell them you need 10 mil in cash or you'll go public with your tape - tell them to meet you at an undisclosed location with a suit case of cash and you'll exchange the tapes.

You'll have some cash for about 2 seconds before you do 5 years for extorsion - WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU MEAN - HOW MUCH IS THE TAPE WORTH?

Yea that's how I know he isn't legit. Why of all places would you brag about it here, on a forum. Why arn't you visiting some legal counsel instead of defending yourself every 10 minutes.

I am an attorney - he suffered no injury - what, he has suffered severe mental anguish - blah blah blah

I guess he could attempt to sell it to a TV station if they'd buy it.

Are you related to the lady who sued Mcdonalds because the cofee was to hot?

people joke about that claim, but she did suffer like 2nd or 3rd degree burns to her private areas so there were real damages. She was careless enough to spill the coffee on herself so I still don't understand how she got paid what she did, but that's another topic.

LADIES AND GENTS, TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE...........I WAS AT MCDONALDS ABOUT 2 HOURS AGO AND SAW A RAT JUMP INTO THE WALL OF MCDONALDS, I COULD NOT BELIEVE WHAT I SEEN...

SO, I DECIDED TO GO HOME AND GET A VIDEO CAMERA. i WENT BACK UP THERE AND FOCUSED ON THE HOLE THAT THIS RAT JUMPED IN....LOW AND BEHOLD 3 RATS TOTAL CAME OUT ON VIDEO.

THIS MCDONALDS IS BRAND NEW....SO I COULD NOT UNDERSTAND ANY EXCUSES,,,,

FIRST, WHAT SHOULD I DO WITH THIS TAPE? WHAT DO YOU THINK IT IS WORTH TO MCDONALDS? OTHERWISE, I AM SHIPPING IT RIGHT TO THE NEWSPAPERS AND TV STATIONS....OF COURSE I WOULD RATHER HAVE THE CASH, SO PLEASE GIVE ME SOME IDEAS ON WHAT AND HOW TO DO IT?

it's not worth anything. You suffered no damages that would support compensation to you. it's not like you ate rat infected food or something. If you try to sell it to McDonalds to avoid bad publicity you better watch you don't get charged with extortion. If it has any value maybe it would be to sell it to news media, but I doubt they would pay much if anything for it.

info on the hot coffee case

in case anyone is interested

//////////////////////////

There is a lot of hype about the McDonalds' scalding coffee case. No
one is in favor of frivolous cases of outlandish results; however, it is
important to understand some points that were not reported in most of
the stories about the case.
McDonalds coffee was not only hot, it was
scalding -- capable of almost instantaneous destruction of skin, flesh
and muscle. Here's the whole story.

Stella Liebeck of Albuquerque, New Mexico, was in the passenger seat of
her grandson's car when she was severely burned by McDonalds' coffee in
February 1992. Liebeck, 79 at the time, ordered coffee that was served
in a styrofoam cup at the drivethrough window of a local McDonalds.

After receiving the order, the grandson pulled his car forward and
stopped momentarily so that Liebeck could add cream and sugar to her
coffee. (Critics of civil justice, who have pounced on this case, often
charge that Liebeck was driving the car or that the vehicle was in
motion when she spilled the coffee; neither is true.) Liebeck placed
the cup between her knees and attempted to remove the plastic lid from
the cup. As she removed the lid, the entire contents of the cup spilled
into her lap.

The sweatpants Liebeck was wearing absorbed the coffee and held it next
to her skin. A vascular surgeon determined that Liebeck suffered full
thickness burns (or third-degree burns) over 6 percent of her body,
including her inner thighs, perineum, buttocks, and genital and groin
areas. She was hospitalized for eight days, during which time she
underwent skin grafting. Liebeck, who also underwent debridement
treatments, sought to settle her claim for $20,000, but McDonalds
refused.

During discovery, McDonalds produced documents showing more than 700
claims by people burned by its coffee between 1982 and 1992. Some claims
involved third-degree burns substantially similar to Liebecks. This
history documented McDonalds' knowledge about the extent and nature of
this hazard.

McDonalds also said during discovery that, based on a consultants
advice, it held its coffee at between 180 and 190 degrees fahrenheit to
maintain optimum taste. He admitted that he had not evaluated the
safety ramifications at this temperature. Other establishments sell
coffee at substantially lower temperatures, and coffee served at home is
generally 135 to 140 degrees.

Further, McDonalds' quality assurance manager testified that the company
actively enforces a requirement that coffee be held in the pot at 185
degrees, plus or minus five degrees. He also testified that a burn
hazard exists with any food substance served at 140 degrees or above,
and that McDonalds coffee, at the temperature at which it was poured
into styrofoam cups, was not fit for consumption because it would burn
the mouth and throat. The quality assurance manager admitted that burns
would occur, but testified that McDonalds had no intention of reducing
the "holding temperature" of its coffee.

Plaintiffs' expert, a scholar in thermodynamics applied to human skin
burns, testified that liquids, at 180 degrees, will cause a full
thickness burn to human skin in two to seven seconds. Other testimony
showed that as the temperature decreases toward 155 degrees, the extent
of the burn relative to that temperature decreases exponentially. Thus,
if Liebeck's spill had involved coffee at 155 degrees, the liquid would
have cooled and given her time to avoid a serious burn.

McDonalds asserted that customers
buy coffee on their way to work or
home, intending to consume it there. However, the companys own research
showed that customers intend to consume the coffee immediately while
driving.

McDonalds also argued that consumers know coffee is hot and that its
customers want it that way. The company admitted its customers were
unaware that they could suffer thirddegree burns from the coffee and
that a statement on the side of the cup was not a "warning" but a
"reminder" since the location of the writing would not warn customers of
the hazard.

The jury awarded Liebeck $200,000 in compensatory damages. This amount
was reduced to $160,000 because the jury found Liebeck 20 percent at
fault in the spill. The jury also awarded Liebeck $2.7 million in
punitive damages, which equals about two days of McDonalds' coffee
sales.

Post-verdict investigation found that the temperature of coffee at the
local Albuquerque McDonalds had dropped to 158 degrees fahrenheit.

The trial court subsequently reduced the punitive award to $480,000 --
or three times compensatory damages -- even though the judge called
McDonalds' conduct reckless, callous and willful.

No one will ever know the final ending to this case.

The parties eventually entered into a secret settlement which has never
been revealed to the public, despite the fact that this was a public
case, litigated in public and subjected to extensive media reporting.
Such secret settlements, after public trials, should not be condoned.

One, if you think you have a case against them do NOT bring the tape or a copy of it to any meeting. Two, seek legal counsel that will take the case, if warranted, on a pro-bono basis. Three, if the above does not seem to reach the price you're wanting, sell the tape to a tv station and be happy knowing you earned a few dollars. BTW, make certain to declare the earned money on next year's taxes.

Here is e x a c t l y what you do: Call Mickey D's VP PR/MR (Public Relations/Marketing). Don't expect them to pickup the phone so leave a detailed message expressing the urgency of the situation. In that message, simply tell him or her exactly what happened just like you did above. Then, express to this person your tremendous concern about eating at McD's (as it has always been your most favorite place to eat), especially in light of the recent discovery of rodents at Taco Bell. Re-mention that you have video tape of this and would expect a timely response from them on how to proceed on this matter, otherwise your conscience will guide you to the press so as to prevent any more fast food related sicknesses in light of recent events.

You will get a lot more of out McD's corporate office moneywise as it's in there best to save face and prevent any "scare" than you would any media source intending to "expose" them.

Thank you Salsa!!!!

allworld, relax. No one has threatened you here. Why must you threaten someone and tell them not to come to the bash? That was totally uncalled for. Seymore isn't the only one who thinks your plan is extorsion.

Wow .....he gives you some free legal advice and you threaten him for all to see, smart move Forrest.

Lets summarize this first you come on to a GAMBLING sight seeking advice on how to blackmail/extort cash from a company for a tape that you got while staking out rats at a McDonalds and then when questioned on it start to use profanity and insults , then you finally get some advice and you utter threats at the person giving it , for all to see.

What would be the logical think to do is throw the tape away , see a shrink for you obvious mental problems and when better get a JOB and earn your way in the world instead of trying to get a free ride.

And throw the video camera away as well it seems harmful in your possession.

Cue the profanity and threats now
