I get it now. Grantt wants the US government to take care of lazy people who chose not to work. Makes total sense.

Me on the other hand, expect people to take responsibility for their actions and take care of themselves.

First of all, Grantt doesn't even live in the US so why does he care? Answer: He is probably one of those lazy SOB's that doesn't have a job and relies on other people's tax money to take care of him.

You assholes would not have to struggle in your country if you had oil like we do.If you did have oil like we do then you could shower in it and you know the rest of the story.

Hmmm! Did Einstein discover the theory of relativity, or hypothesize it? A conundrum to debate over through the ages.

Yes I do know what you mean. Are you a friend of Bill W? Natrually you do not have to answer that. I started drinking in the service, we had two separate groups in our unit the druggies and the boozers, I was a boozer. It finally caught up to me in the late 80's but I was lucky and got the help I needed and have been sober since.
A day at a time.

Simple J.O.B.S

soon they will all be gone. Currently IT jobs and engineering jobs are leaving the USA at an alarming rate. CEO'S and upper mgmt are raping America by hiring offshore workers. America gets no Payroll taxes and no Tariff tax on information leaving and comming back to the USA. Eventually there will be no consumers because no one will have any money. We have Lobbiest groups selling this H1b visa crap. Many displaced workers are out of work because of the flood of Visa workers. We will be really screwed in the next 5 years unless congress steps in helps the mass exit of Jobs.

Hopefully, we seem to be in a downward spiral. Time to end NAFTA & any of these other special insert group favors.

Unless these corporate theives fess up. We are in trouble.

I write and call my congress person all the time. I walk the halls here at work and tell them about the situation. We just hired 100 Indians today. Scary stuff.

My office has a bunch of Bush Wackers and I pointed out the following to them from a recent Press conference. He doesn't even understand the issue !!!!!

Question: Thank you, Mr. President. Staying with that theme, although there are some signs of improvement in the economy, there are sectors in the work force who feel like they're being left behind. They're concerned about jobs going overseas, that technology is taking over jobs. And these people are finding difficulty finding work. And although you're recommitted yourself to your tax cut policy, do you have any ideas or any plans within the administration of what you might do for these people who feel like there are fundamental changes happening in the work force and in the economy?

THE PRESIDENT: Sure. Listen, I fully understand what you're saying. In other words, as technology races through the economy, a lot of times worker skills don't keep up with technological change. And that's a significant issue that we've got to address in the country. I think my idea of reemployment accounts makes a lot of sense. In essence, it says that you get $3,000 from the federal government to help you with training, day care, transportation, perhaps moving to another city. And if, within a period of time, you're able to find a job, you keep the balance as a reemployment bonus. I know the community colleges provide a very important role in worker training, worker retraining. I look forward to working with our community colleges through the Department of Education, coordinate closely with states, particularly in those states in which technology is changing the nature of the job force. I've always found the community college -- and this is from my days as the governor of Texas -- found the community college to be a very appropriate place for job training programs because they're more adaptable, their curriculums are easier to change, they're accessible. Community colleges are all over the place. And -- but you're right. I mean, I think we need to make sure that people get the training necessary to keep up with the nature of the jobs, as jobs change.

Codeworks - In your above post President Bush answered the question about people being concerned about losing jobs to technology, didn't he?

Regarding jobs going over seas, did he even address that? I don't think you can criticize someone and say they have no clue about something just because they don't talk about it.

KMAN -

He avoided answering the full question because his attention span is very short. He had no clue. Most high ranking officials would at least spew out some B.S. and answer the question in full. It's not that difficult. Bush is going down in 2004.

Codeworks - So you would rather have Bush say some BS instead of not answering at all????

You know that he can't do that! The Libs would be all over him.

They all spew B.S once in awhile. He could of at the least mentioned that he has people looking into the offshore issue, blah, blah, blah, and so on. He did not even do that. It’s apparent he did fully comprehend the question.
The transcript does not lie.

CodeWorks - I personally can not crucify the guy just because he forgot to answer a question. I know Libs do, but no matter who the guy is I just don't think that is right.

I argue for the truth not to win. If you really believe it acceptable to not answer or address the question in full, well then that is your prerogative.

Igetp2s,

"No, social security and medicare to wealthy elderly people are the largest wasteful spending, followed closely by welfare to people who refuse to work."

So just because they're wealthy they're not entitled to the social security pension that they paid into their whole lives, yeah that would fly well with your conserv buddies.
You do realize that the idea that people want to be on welfare as a general rule is a repub myth don't you? I'm sure there is the odd bum but that doesn't make it a norm. How many truely poor people have you known? I've never met one person on government assitance (and I've know more than a few) that thought it was some great deal or better than having a job. As a matter of fact the vast mayority I've know were very embarrassed of it.

We're talking a billion dollars a week. The current war and occupation of Iraq is the most wasteful spending we've seen from our government in years.

CodeWorks - I never said that dodging a question was acceptable. If he forgot to answer the question, that's different.

Hard to tell from words whether the question was dodged or forgotten.
