I own a husky as well... too dominant for my taste but I understand is not a trade of the breed but a thing my dog developed...

I had a husky, good dog overall. Shedding was awful and it scared the shit out of people with his eyes and how big he was but would never hurt anyone.

Easily the best dog I've owned was a St Bernard. Such a gentle loving dog, someday will get another but difficult with a 1 year old.

Currently own a miniature Australian Shepard. Good good, but probably wouldn't get another.

I have never had a dog over 40 pounds that I did not think was the best dog in the world at the time. Little dogs are just not for me. They seem to never learn anything ( housebreaking being the most important)

specifically though I love American Bulldoggs, but I am just tired of cancer taking them from me ( all 4 died too young from cancer after undergoing chemo/radiation)
I had labs growing up. Love them! I never thought I'd go for a smaller dog, but we have a cockapoo (cocker/poodle mix) that is wonderful. He can be high maintenance at times, but cute as hell, smart, lots of personality. Highly recommend.

Border Collie... Smart as hell. Just make sure you have plenty of room for it to run around.

Don't be fooled by them. They're one of the worst groups for helping rescue animals. They kill healthy animals over and over again, even when rescue groups agree to take them...

I've never heard of that before. What group has your support?

My girl friend has one. Beautiful, crazy dog. He NEVER get tired. Always ready to play play play.

He needs a lot of land to burn off his energy. Golden heart.

My favorite dog ever is one of my current ones, which is a mutt.

Also have had good luck with shelties.

Had a cocker spaniel growing up and that was also a great dog. RIP Butkus

My current 2 girls. Mutt on bottom is the smartest, nicest, coolest dog I've ever owned. She's 13 acts 6 in every respect; I'd be shocked if she doesn't see 18 or even 20.

I have a sheltie and would love to have another. Smart, loyal, obedient, full of character.

My friends have two boxers, and they are my favorite dogs in the world. Playful and energetic, but easily lay down and snuggle. They look mean, but they are the most gentle dogs. My brother has a Lab/Great Dane mix. 90 lbs and would sever the jugular vein of any intruder. Very, very protective but a complete teddy bear around the people that are in the circle of trust. It's hilarious, when he has people over to eat, he growls when they take a bite. Smart enough to know they are eating the food supply that belongs to his pack.
