rawpimple, does it ever occur to you to stop repeating yourself?

it really is like talking to a wall with you.

I saw at least 3 turnovers, missed foul shot, and a complete rejection in the final quarter for the "closer". Not to mention his man was the one that went free for a layup at the end. He almost singly handidly lost that game for the Lakers if it werent for the other people in his team that actually stepped up and the Magic handing that game away.

3 Turnovers, STUFFED at the end and stuffed badly, missed foul shot and if it werent for the refs feeling sorry for him (which by the way were HORRIBLE calls) Kobe would have cost his team the game at home in the NBA finals. This isnt regular season or even the first round of the playoffs. This is the NBA finals.

Not only did he turn it over 3 times in the 4th, he got completely rejected on a last second shot, missed a foul shot (for a 90% FT shooter) in the fourth, but had a horrible defensive lapse on the last shot that should have cost the Lakers the game. Is a guy known as the "closer" to some of you supposed to play so bad he costs his team the game in the finals? Get that "closer" crap out of here.

Important note: Kobe's reputation as a "killer" at the end of games remains overblown. The site www.82games.com just posted a study of game-winning shots from the last five-plus seasons (regular seasons and playoffs since the 2003-04 season) that revealed Kobe was shooting 14-for-56 (25 percent) with one assist and five turnovers, and made 12 of 15 free throws. So let's say that was 70 possessions total, including Sunday night. ... He only had one assist in nearly six years??? That's why Orlando quadruple-teamed him in that spot. Kobe is a phenomenal streak shooter, and he has a real talent for catching fire with a lead and closing games out ... but you can stop him in one-shot situations simply because he's his own worst enemy. He wants to be a hero, he's shooting it, and that's that.

i love 82games.com, but haka is right, that data is misleading. how often does kobe have to take a game winning shot compared to other guys.

since when does 90% = 100%? guy cant miss a free throw once in a while without you jumping all over him? he saved the lakers with his clutch free throw shooting against denver, give him some credit for that.

this was ONE GAME that he may have played average AT WORST. He wasn't bad by any means. He has stepped it up big time late in games throughout the playoffs and i know you see him... but of course you wait until he has his ONE average game to jump all over him. its funny actually, you had a long wait, i'm surprised you could keep your mouth shut for that long because it's been a long time since kobe's been average.

youll take lebron over kobe any day? lebron stepped up BIG in the eastern conference finals didnt he? especially with his season on the line, he stepped it up, right? he made it a contest right till that final buzzer. no bs from lebron james, he brings it every night, never takes a day off, especially not in an elimination game. and dont even bring up that crap about lebron having no teammates. kobe had no teammates one year and he pushed the elite phoenix suns to a game seven all by himself.

yeah the refs helped him out, but lets face it - they help out every superstar. lebron got the calls, mj ALWAYS got the calls. ALWAYS. there wasn't a game that mj wasn't getting calls. we all know he pushed off the defender and that's not the only case either. superstars get calls, it's not fair but it's human nature to give the elite members the benefit of the doubt.

Wow dude, you are lost, just lost. It's ok. Why dont you wash that Kobe jersey you have been wearing for the past 8 weeks. You and Box need to take those Kobe posters down off your bedroom walls too. You are all into the LA and Hollywood HYPE.

Its not even worth arguing because you are lost.

Yeah Lebron didnt step it up in the Eastern Finals. That is why most of the experts have said he had the best stretch in the Eastern Finals they have seen anyone play, especially considering he was doing it all by himself. Dude was dropping 40 a night all by himself and not with a Gasol, Odom, and Ariza there to play defense and step it up so he can REST and maybe take some plays and even nights off like Kobe.

Kobe was brutal. Sure MJ had some games where he was off but they were very few and far between and they didnt come in the NBA FINALS.

If your name is supposedly, "the closer" you shouldnt have BRUTAL games and it wasnt average. That game he had was even bad if a JJ Reddick had it, much less a guy known as a "closer". That title is stupid, just plain stupid. He really closed that game out with all those turnovers, missed shots, rejections, and a last play defensive meltdown that should have cost him the game.

Some of you are missing the point. I am not saying he is a bad basketball player. Sure he is good but he isnt even near the top player ever, MJ and even some of the other top NBA players in history. In fact, I would take Lebron every day over Kobe. Bigger, stronger, faster, more dominant. The only thing Lebron doesnt have yet is the absolute killer instinct, but he has it. He just needs one player to help him out a little on the defensive and offensive end. Plus, Lebron is much younger and has plenty more time to continue to dominate.

In the meantime keep buying the hype and continue to ignore brutal games, like 2 nights ago, in the NBA FINALS, the biggest stage. That is when the real players come to play and not take nights off, or much less hurt their team so bad they just about cost them the game. That isnt what CLOSERS do!

I am still waiting for Box's response who has been ignoring me for 2 straight days! I am waiting for your Kobe loving-ass and your backtracking! I would love to see it. BACKTRACKING!!!! Love it!!!!

"Oh Kobe only had one really bad game"
"I never said Kobe wasnt the best ever"
"Kobe was sick and had a stuffy nose, how could you expect him to play well"
"Kobe still went out there and tried really hard and came off the court with a smile every time"
"Kobe wanted his teammates to step up to make them feel important"

Really dumb dude. Really dumb.

Did Tom Brady play so bad in the SUPER BOWL that his play should have cost his team the game??????? NEVER! In fact just the opposite, when the Super Bowl comes, Tom Brady plays his best games ever!!! He doesnt throw 3 picks in the 4th quarter, dipshit.

BUY A CLUE BECAUSE YOU ARE LOST.

Kobe works harder than any other player out there

Congratulations! The other NBA teams shouldnt even show up because Kobe tries very hard.

Well he needs to work much harder considering that horrible game he had in the NBA FINALS. This wasnt one shot or two, this was the 4th quarter, the time that real players show up and people nicknamed the "closer" show up.

Apparently some of you missed last years NBA FINALS so this wasnt one FINALS game.

"The Closer" BAWAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA It is f'in laughable.

lol this guy is a clown, real quick let me give you one of mj's games where he blew it game 1 against the lakers nba finals he missed the game winning shot, lakers went up 1-0 eventually lost the series though mj had a terrible 4th quarter in that game, so theres one nba finals game the great mike didnt get it done in lmao so get a clue fella, many others but im not going to write all day

secondly kobe is right now alot better than lbj how people can compare them is a joke, lbj needs to be able to hit a ft, develop and outside game, develop a low post game before he can be compared to kobe, he has been in the league 6-7 years now so the excuses are going to get old

why is kobe the most hated star ever it seems i dont get it, the guy has the best work ethic of nba star, practices more and harder than anyone in the league with the most talent, basically what everyone complains about kobe does, "superstars not practicing" yet kobe constantly is working on his game, lol i just dont get the hate

Any comments Kobe Lovers????????????????

Closers come to play in the 4th quarter!!!! Not the 1st and say they are tired and sit on the bench for almost half the 4th just to come in to turn the ball over when it counts. Poor baby was tired. How do you think Lebron felt dropping 40+ a night, doing it all by himself, and not resting at all???

You are a wimp Kobe!!!!

Get this Kobe clown OUT OF HERE.

Good player.....yes

Closer or even one of the best....get outta here!!!!

This is not even a debate...it is so one sided it is a joke.

Box waiting for your response.....NBA Finals this year and last year for the CLOSER any response????? Get your BS out of here along with Kobe the
"closer".

kid, youre a fucking idiot, please stop trying to talk basketball.

kobe wasn't "tired", he gets a break at the beginning of the fourth quarter of every game. phil did that with MJ too. he likes his player to be at full strength at the end of the game even if that means risking the beginning of the fourth.

keep hating kobe though, it's only human nature to be envious of those who are better and more successful than you even have the potential to be.

i dont care what the experts say. yeah, he had a great series. but where did he go in game six? i thought he was bigger, more dominant, and stronger than any other player in the league? what happened? he disapeared in game 6, he let his team get blown out of the gym. it was an ELIMINATION GAME. im not saying lebron is a bad player for that, i'm just saying that it happens. people fail. humans fail.

if youre saying that kobe needs to the perfect basketball player with no bad games ever in order to earn the nickname "the closer", then fine, he's not "the closer". but if you talk to a rational person who gives him reasonable chances, then yeah, you can call him one of the greatest closers in the history of the game.

and i dont think anybody has made excuses for him on this thread. he had two bad games down the stretch, i'll admit it, i'm a huge kobe fan but i'm not an idiot, i saw him nearly cost his team the game in game 2 and then pretty much do it in game 3. but are you really going to sit there and ignore every other time he's stepped up in big games, put his team on his back, and made clutch shots over and over and over and over? did you WATCH the denver series??

and as for youre tom brady comment...

"we're only going to score 17 points?"

^^^ people fail, people have bad games. it happens, you move on and come back next time, that's what great players like kobe, mj, brady, and lebron do.
