It's called 'social engineering', driven by do-gooder types who want to 'protect us from ourselves', as well as 'benefit society'. I suppose the only thing in 30 years they'll allow me to do is die.

In my opinion they arent trying to benefit society, they are preventing economic costs to it. If that is the case it is definitely not a "do-gooder" mentality, it is purely for self interest.
