Of course Oregon's surge in recent years can be directly attributed to bringing Chip Kelly out west.Conan, where did it go?? Was it ALL Chip?
However someone screwed the pooch when Scott Frost was passed by in favor of Mark Helfrich
when Kelly moved on to the NFL. I'm also a little confused about the promotion/demotion of Don
Pellum as their DC last year. What I don't understand about it is how the f**k did one of the west
coast's best recruiters end up with such a shitty cast of defensive linemen... an embarrassment of
talentless losers. It's going to take a while to unravel the mess that Oregon finds itself in.
Probably the biggest of all gaffs committed by Oregon's brain-trust was passing on Chris Peterson
for Mark Helfrich. Peterson had previously coached for the Ducks and regularly whupped them when
he was Boise's HC. It was blunder of historical proportions and will more than likely take years to
get over. There aren't very many coaches in the game that can take on Chris Peterson and come
out on top.
F*ing Washington scored big. Maybe Mike MacIntyre has it in him but the chance that he will
jump ship and switch from Colorado to Eugene is likely extremely expensive (contractually.)
Chris Peterson is known for teams that are damn near without flaw. But so is MacIntyre.
I think there is a very good chance that what we are looking at nowadays is the origin of a new
Pac-12 hierarchy.
