I like your picks this week, Conan.

The Huskies might play tough for a half, but they will fold in the 2nd half. They always do. I think they've covered one 2nd half all season(BYU game). This team is so ready to quit on Tyrone.

I was going to go to the game tomorrow, but after seeing the Oklahoma game up close, I just can't do it. I've been to 50+ Husky games over 20+ years, including two Rose Bowls, and that is the first time I've ever left a game at half time. Absolutely brutal to watch.

Willingham is not the answer.

Well he sure is a stand up guy. But I'm thinking it's a personality issue of some kind. For example take Norm Chow. He's a brilliant tactician and can develop talent better than most every OC but he's got the personality of a cardboard box. He's not HC material. TW seems to have his limitations and I think they caught up to him... eventually. No he's not the guy.

But one interesting thing is that whoever gets his job will have a schedule made for bowling in 2009. They can afford almost anyone they want but if I was a guy like Chris Peterson, I'd stay put. I don't know anyone as good as him looking for a job. Maybe Lane Kiffin -- FWIW?

(I also wonder if Mike Price will ever want to move back home?)

Kudos to all the over players on the USC game.

I saw an adjusted total in this game O 67 +250. Did anyone else see it? Just curious because the final TD was a gift. USC was playing exclusively 3 and 4 deep towards the end. PC winced when the last TD was scored but there are a few who cashed real nice on account of it.

I don't know about that. Home to LSU and at Notre Dame will be tough to even keep close. They need to stop scheduling Top 25 non-conf. opponents and play more teams like Idaho.

Nice start for you today. That was a big win for Slick Rick and the Bruins.

Thanks for that.

I was right about the Bruins. They really were ready to take one. (A bit of learned W8 savvy.) I figured them to be on the right side of a close game, for a change.

UCLA has a couple of DT's as good as any in the Pac-10 and sure 'nuff, Stanford's rushing game suffered for it. Stanford's passing defense is bad and it gave Kevin Craft enough daylight to get the job done when he had time.

Footnote: I wish I had added NM/SDSU like I was thinking of doing. Anyone seen what happened to the Aztecs today? It don't get any uglier than that.

Nice day so far! Bet you were sweating that osu play a bit. UW had way too many chances to cover.

I got down early with 14 but a push would have been like kissing my sister. The goal line stand at the 1 yard line was heroic. The ensuing interception was predictable.

I gotta shut up because every time I sit here and type, Zona scores. These guys are going to score 80+ tonight.

Nice call on the over UoD.

PS... Coach. Bernard Hopkins is my new hero. He's the new torchbearer for us "experienced" types.

OK I'll call it a day. There's a few minutes left in the game but I concede that Zona is my master.
However, this was the best W8 I've had in CFB in several years.
I must have learned some things along the way. (Paid for it too.)

Week 8 recap:
4-1 (80%) +4 units

Season to date recap:
29-13 (69%) +23 units

Nervous about this Antolin kid next week, reminds me of Jizz.

'SC will probably open around 18 or so. FWIW, Pete's undefeated in the state of AZ (reverse jinx).

HK, I believe that USC will be challenged by Zona this week. I'm looking for some points to bet the Cats if it so happens. I'll jump on 18 if I see it. I have a lot of faith in USC's defense because it's as badass as they come, but Zona has teeth of their own and won't be shut down easily.

I also think there will be some pretty good numbers put up by Sanchez but I don't expect a Heisman kind of performance from him. I gotta give the crowd some credit for the way the Cats beat Cal this past week. Momentum shifts made a big difference in the game flow and I largely credit the crowd with that. That plus Jahvid Best not playing the full game. Vereen puts up respectable numbers but Best provides a spark when he's in there that gives Cal extra momentum. Without it, momentum can be lost to the crowd pretty easily there.

Overall, a 10-17 point win is about what I expect from USC this coming week. It could even be tighter than that. Remember that Carroll has been playing his bench 2 and 3 deep because of a few injuries and other personnel issues. Who's going to be their workhorse RB this week? Anyone at all? Seems like Stafon Johnson is their go to guy week in and week out but for some reason, they need more than Johnson being the workhorse, perhaps too much predictability otherwise.

But whats happening with their skill position players? Will there ever be any continuity? Does it matter? Any other team but USC would be in deep shit with all the rotation that's been recently needed. That goes for both sides of the line.

Now I'm not 100% sold on this theory but close to it. My lingering doubts have to do with USC blowing out the Wildcat inexperienced DL and secondary. So it's up to Sanchez whether or not USC gets the cover. I tend to think he will be a bit rattled at times by the crowd @ UA. But like I said, it's up to Sanchez to exploit UA's weakness.
