SDST couldn't possibly be as good as they showed against ND can they? I mean there are only 11 starters back on this team, who is picked to finish last in their conference.. Only 3 starters are back on offense. I think one advantage that SDST had coming into that game was they had a game under their belts and ND didn't. As much as I hate ND, something tells me they'll come out next week playing a little sharper. I don't really feel that way about SDST. That was probably as good as they were going to get for awhile. This was another reason I liked Arizona over Toledo. It was Toledo's first game and Zona's second. I think this can be a big deal for some teams. Look at how much San Jose improved from their first to their second game.

Fairwarning. I was watching the SDSU/ND game off and on and for a time I was really rooting for the Aztecs. They seem to come up with one quality performance every year out on the road vs an opponent they won't beat and that's when they play their best game.

For a good portion of the game when SD was in it, they appeared to be in control. Charlie W was caught on camera a few times with that sh*t eatin' worried look you've seen before and I thought he might just be done for. Had he lost the game, all of CFB would start wondering again if ND made a huge mistake for ever hiring him. I still think that might prove to be true. Their performance last week just plain sucked. If that's the way they are going to play, they won't get by either Mich team this season.

Actually when I checked my betting ticket the line was at -1. I guess that makes 3 games that changed within 30 seconds as I was making my wagers. It's a PK now so apparently I jumped a little too soon, but it's still basically a SU winner bet.

I'm no B-10 or ND expert but I know what I saw in that SD St. game. SD is not a good team. This much I can tell you. And like I said, I've seen that look on CW's face before. I think we will be seeing it again, perhaps more often than people think at this point in the season.

RR's going to come through sooner or later. This seems like as good a time as any. ND's defense is terrible and I doubt they will be able to deal with RR's spread too well, even at this early stage of his program. Other than that, I'd bring this up in a B-10 thread or maybe there's a ND homie around here that's pretty well read and caught up on the Irish, hopefully someone who doesn't think with his heart.

For all the ND hype I've been hearing about, how much more improved they will be this season, blah blah blah, I've seen absolutely nothing thus far to indicate it will happen. They looked just as bad as ever in their struggle in their own house trying to beat SD St. who is a doormat in the MWC.

Yes this is a ND fade.

I'm not betting ND with my heart here. Just saying Michigan is horrible and ND has the motivation. They are still a year away, but as this season goes along they should improve. Everyone in this area (I'm 30 minutes away from South Bend) is really down on ND and will all be betting on Michigan. Michigan threw for 100 yards and scored 6 points the last three quarters vs Miami. Utah gave them basically all their points too. If ND can take care of the ball, they should win this by 10+. Claussen is farther along than the two Michigan has at qb.

I will be all over MSU vs ND the week after.

I'm pretty sure Indiana is in the Central time zone and Oregon is Pacific. That would be 2 hours diff. Someone in Indiana or out that way correct me if I'm wrong.

Fairwarning, like I said I'm no expert on ND or the B-10. Maybe there is more about UM that I don't know that would mean something. Doesn't ND have a problem with Michigan over the years or could that be Mich. St? From a historical perspective, I think one of those 2 teams ND has had a real problem with. Might be MSU. ???

I'm not going to make this pick an official selection in the end. I'd rather stick to what I know -- WC and Pac-10. The only reason why I mentioned it here is because last Saturday I saw a terrible ND team get beat by one that I know is worse -- worse than UM by far and also a doormat from a non-BCS conference.

We're on eastern time here fellas. 3:30 kickoff in West Lafayette would be 12:30 west coast time.

conan,

I'm just not getting that people are betting this Oregon game like they already know the final score...I just got done watching the Purdue tape and they looked pretty good to me, especially their WR corps that I didn't have very high expectations for...I'm on Purdue this week, guess I'm in the minority...GL to you...

Pags,

I don't think you believe in Chip Kelly the way I do. If Oregon covers, I will have ONE guy to thank for it (mostly.) In a large part, he is why I think they get the cover. My opinion is that Oregon's offense is overwhelmingly good. I also think Oregon's D is a top 10 squad, especially their secondary.

Thanks for the heads up Pags, I wish you the best of luck and a great season for the Wolfpack.

Man, UCLA really gutted it out (especially their defense) to beat Tennessee. It's not solely because it was Crompton's first game. They shut down their running game pretty well too.... things I noticed. But the point is that it took a lot of guts for the defense to keep them in it and I think they were put to task because they knew their offense was hurting.

If any of that carries over to this game with an extra week to prepare and revenge also keeping the fire burning, they could pull off another upset. They sure have the coaches to make it happen. The extra week should also help them from looking backwards at W1. Some time for it to wear off.

With all the points, UCLA is starting to look like a good bet. Worth checking the blogs to see how their practices are going. How about Walker's D? How is Kahlil Bell feeling? Is Craft learning the offense better and is he synching up with his WR's? What's the latest about their OL?

Haven't seen Purdue play, but when they lose it is because they cannot match up on the lines.

ND and Michigan usually trade victories. The ND-MSU series is dominated by the road team. The game is played at MSU this year, but the line play is a huge advantage to MSU. I can only look their way.

Every major college in Indiana is in the Eastern Time Zone. There are six counties right around the Illinois State Line that voted to stay in the Central Time Zone. Also there is six at the botton tip of the state that are Central. West Lafayette used to be Central, meaning there is a three hour difference for Oregon.

Pags, I think there will be times when the Duck offense will have to keep their opponent's offense off the field... they should score most of the time but if not, their defense may need to do some of the talking. Painter is a challenge for sure. But I don't think Purdue lines up vs the Ducks too well. Not many teams will. I hope Chris finishes up his career and makes himself a lot of money on Sundays. Drew Brees thinks so. He will probably do that despite never getting a defining win in his entire college career.

BOL

PS... UCLA beat TN but it was also a "perfect storm" that beat the vols. Craft on the road does not appeal to me. I was really just floating the idea. Hope you win that one.

What surprised me is how long it took for the line to move. WSU looks like they are headed for the bottom 5 in all CFB. I think they will end up with 2 wins this season, but then I think they won't.

Conan, I apologize if you have already talked about this but I have not read the entire thread... How is RB Johnson doing? Is he going to play and be close to or 100% ?
