Ducks, just FYI I had Oklahoma +11 on a teaser to the under just because everyone thought so highly of Florida and the over. Couple that to my Florida -3 pick and it was all money yesterday for me. Maybe I'll just let all that money sit in my account 'til next season. I'm staked up pretty nicely for '09 and I've already withdrawn my 27.5 units that I won this year. Hope you did well too.

Nice hits.

I did ok this yr but when it is all said and done it was my lowest total yr in 3 years...

I went 39-33, +9 units

By the way Ducks, I was up in Seattle for that last round of blizzards and white outs over the weekend and Monday. I thought of calling you up but I need some contact info. So email me at conan_rx@yahoo.com. I still use that same email addy for forum business since I was the mod here years ago.

The Edgewater Hotel was a class act. But the food prices are awful outside of happy hour. :) I'm sure I will be back in Seattle within the next couple or 3 months. Oh and by the way, that town is CRAZY about their sports in some circles. Their sports talk radio is about as good as it gets. 950 AM.

I think Sark will be their answer but he won't have the players to pull it off for about 3 years. Sarkisian may not be my favorite AC but I think he learned a lot from PC at USC and he'll do pretty well as a HC... eventually.

L5Y, USC is 4-0 vs SEC, outscoring them 167-48!!!

I can say this Conan. Lane Kiffin may not have shown it in the W/L column for 1 1/2 years as a head coach but I will say this. He won the respect and admiration of that lockroom even when they went through a 6 game slide. Anyother lockroom wouldve collapsed and started imploding on itself. Not Kiffin's. As Kiffin assembled this team and planted his philosophy, I could see Pete Carroll's handwriting all over it. And again even during his firing, 90% of those players sided with Kiffin over Al Davis. Many believe he could've been the answer.

With that said, I believe Sark is gonna do great things at Washington. He's gonna bring a winning attitude back to the Huskies. And if he's part of Carroll's and Norm Chow's lineage, he's gonna stress competition, competition, competition. At the start of every off season, 3 year starters as well as walk on's will be equals on the practice field. He'll drive the team to go 110% everyday at practice. That level of energy and excitment feeds on itself. And he's a great teacher which is something not really said about Sark. But again its a testiment of the "Leave No Doubt" and "Win Forever" attitude they have at USC.

Its funny, when the Raiders embraced a new slogan called "All In" which mean't buying into the system, jump in and swim attitude, I chuckled because I knew for years thats the sign the Trojans slapped in the lockroom everyday they hit the field.

Lol..lemme grab a file outta my Trojan archives for my RX bretheren. Here's a small example of Sark mic'd up at Trojan scrimmage. It's a taste of what he'll bring to the Huskies.

Here's my final bowl wrapup.

Oregon +3* (W)
OR/OSU Over 77* (L)
Oregon St./Pitt. Under 52.5* (W)
La Tech-1.5/N.Ill 1/2 Unit (W)
Nevada-1.5/MD*
(L)
BYU+3/AZ*
(L)
HI+2.5/ND*
(L)
Cal-6.5/Miami**
(W)
Pitt.+3/Or St.*
(Push)
Cal-2 and Pitt.+9**
(W)(teaser)
USC-10/PSU*
(W)
USC/PSU U45*
(L)ALA-10.5/UT* (L)

So that makes it 6-6-1 for the bowls (+1.5 units) Better than a stick in the eye. I admit that I totally underestimated Utah just because of the way they escaped a few close games such as when they played Oregon State. I count myself lucky for getting the push in the Sun Bowl (OR St./Pitt) The Beavers could have one it by 2 TD's easily but were denied on the goal line twice. The Hawaii loss was my worst pick but I still can't play on Notre Dame and it will be a while before I do.

My 2008 season was very successful with a 51-30 final tally (63% / +27.5 units.) Adding just a little more to that total was nothing to holler about but the bowls for me were very entertaining right up to the NC game. OVerall I had a very good season and I attribute it to reading my ass off in all the blogs and newspapers and I was just as busy reading up on the teams I don't particularly give a shit about as well as the ones that I do. So my advice to anyone that wants to do as well is READ READ READ!! Read it all and then look for more.

I think next year will be similar to this one in the Pac-10. Both Washington teams will be at the bottom even though Udub's starting to look more like USC every day (in the coaching dept.)

Speaking of USC, they made PSU look like boys playing men. It's no use explaining it to homies that will NEVER learn. But the fact is that this was only Mark Sanchez's first year at QB and he will return with almost his entire offense still in tact. I doubt that he will go to the NFL after just one year where he hardly made a dent in his true potential and ability.

As far as the rest of the conferrence goes for '09, I expect to see moe of the same from Oregon with Chip Kelly as their new HC. 2 of Bellotti's assistants have been told they will not be with the team when Kelly takes over at HC so I think Bellotti will be leaving sooner than later. Cal will be better off in '09 without Longshore and Kevin Riley taking over at QB. Both Cal and Oregon should be there perhaps challenging USC for the conference title depending on how well Carroll's new coaching staff woks out. Personally I think the changes could help USC but we'll see. And as far as the Beavers go, they'll be there... somehow... they always are, They may be good for 8 wins per year at least until kingdom come or until Mike Riley moves on which may never happen.

Pretty much nothing happened this past year that I didn't expect except perhaps ASU falling on their faces but even that was predictable considering that they lost 7 big producers to the NFL after their successful '07 season. Zona may be the one team that will have a hard time next year exceeding this year's output. In the post Tuitama era, can Danny Sullivan cut it in his first year as their starter? That's a very big question but they do return both Grigsby and Gronkowski... also that little scat back Antolin that reminds me of Quizz, so they won't be hurting too bad. UCLA should be better but I am thinking that maybe Neuheisel won't be their answer. Losing Walker to NM St. will be huge. Tjere was some talk about Nick Holt bolting from the Trojans to UCLA across town but that won't hapen because Sarkisian already lured him to coach the Huskies defense.

So to wrap it all up, I think once again it's up to anyone that wants to do well next season to start following the teams today! Thre will be plenty of wholesale changes in the conference and there's no better way to keep up with the changes than to do a lot of reading... including my threads as well as UoD's.

Have a good year everyone.
It's been a pleasure doing this.

PS... 3 Heisman hopefuls from the Pac-10 in '09 will be (in order of most likely to win)
1. Mark Sanchez
2. Jahvid Best
3. Jeremiah Masoli (dark horse depends on how well Oregon does in '09)

Great season this year. I look forward to more of the same next year.

I think your analysis of next year is spot on. Particularly with Arizona. They had a dream schedule this year and were set up for success. They won't have that schedule next year and won't have Tui.

By way of clarification, Danny Sullivan is ASU's backup, not Arizona. And by the way, I would be shocked if Sullivan plays more than mop up duty next year. Rudy was hurt and hated by the team and the coaches. Yet, Sullivan didn't play a lick. What does that say about the guy?

I can't wait for Spring ball to start.

Thanks for all you do here.

Yeah thanks for fixing the Sullivan goof. At least I got the state right.

There's going to be a lot to keep up with over the winter. Spring practice through July is also a pretty busy time tracking down everything that went on in the spring and boning up on the new recruits that haven't reported. By itself that can be almost a life and death matter regarding a team's fortunes the following fall. I have to say that I am very impressed with both Oregon school's recruits coming on board next year. I'll be checking up on the rest soon.

Anyone that thinks that college football is done with needs to get a reality check. Next season has already started, but the games themselves won't happen for 8 months. I think the deadest time of the year is late July and into 1/2 of August before fall camps begin. The news all over the conference is some head turning stuff. I think a lot of what's happened just in the past week will drastically affect scores and sides next season.
