SEATTLE @ TAMPA BAY | 08/04 | 1:10 PM EDT
UNDER 8
ANALYSIS: Scarily, I agree with Justin Perri here. These quick turnaround games always help the starting pitchers because they obviously didn't play the night before. The Rays, who are 0-6 vs. Seattle this year, have scored just two runs in each of the first two games this series and are resting big bopper Nelson Cruz today. Southpaw pitcher Josh Fleming has a 2.23 home ERA, and the Mariners hit lefties worse. Seattle's Logan Gilbert has a 3.14 road ERA and 1.69 overall during the day -- although you can't tell its daytime in the eyesore that is Tropicana Field.
BOSTON @ DETROIT | 08/04 | 7:10 PM EDT
DETROIT +1.5
ANALYSIS: Boston has scored just 13 runs during a five-game losing streak. The Tigers, meanwhile, are a juggernaut at home these days. I also believe they have the starting pitching edge with former No. 1 overall pick Casey Mize, who has allowed two earned or fewer in five of his past six, against Sox inconsistent lefty Eduardo Rodriguez. Detroit is 5-1 in its past six at home vs. a lefty. We'll take the runline safety net, though, at -120.
CHI. CUBS @ COLORADO | 08/04 | 8:40 PM EDT
COLORADO -157
ANALYSIS: I said in backing the Rockies on Tuesday that I'll be fading the Cubs PLENTY the rest of the season, and there's no reason why not to do so again here. While Tuesday's pitching matchup looked somewhat even, this doesn't. Colorado's Jon Gray has gone 3-0 with a 2.61 ERA since being reinstated from the injured list on June 25 and is 5-2 with a 3.14 ERA at home this year. Chicago's Alec Mills is 0-3 with a 5.93 ERA on the road.
