(515) DENVER NUGGETS VS (516) SAN ANTONIO SPURS

Take: UNDER THE TOTAL

Reason: Your Bonus Play for Wednesday, November 18, 2015, comes in the NBA as Denver heads to San Antonio. Denver shoots better at home and is in the middle of the pack in points allowed and field goal shooting defense. The under is 8-2-1 in the Nuggets last 11 games playing on no days rest. They face a terrific San Antonio defense that is fourth in the NBA in field goal shooting defense. San Antonio is 4-1 under the total at home and 4-1-1 under playing on one day of rest. And when these teams meet the under is 20-7 in the last 27 meetings in San Antonio. Denver/San Antonio Over the total.

Nuggets vs Spurs

Bonus Play San Antonio Spurs

First let me say I like Nuggets coach Michael Malone. Unlike his predecessor, Brian Shaw, he's a real coach. I didn't think Malone got a fair shake in Sacramento. I also like Denver's rookie point guard Emmanuel Mudiay - he's on both of my Rotisserie teams - along with Danilo Gallinari, who is showing just how good he can be now that he's healthy.
However .... This is a kill spot for San Antonio.
I see the Spurs, finally fully healthy, burying Denver at home. The Nuggets are playing for the fourth time in six days and without rest. This is their third consecutive road contest. They are coming off a 115-98 road win against the Pelicans. That win isn't quite as impressive as it may look, though, given that New Orleans is a reeling 1-10 and Anthony Davis was lost in the first quarter.
The Spurs have won five in a row, winning those games by an average of 14.4 points. They are at 100 percent with Kawhi Leonard and Manu Ginobili back playing. San Antonio has covered in 12 of its last 16 home games going back to last season.
This is their last game of a three-game homestand. They won't play again until Friday so a full effort should be forthcoming.
Denver doesn't shoot well enough to be to hang with the Spurs, who give up the fewest points in the NBA per game at 90.6. Only two of the Spurs' last nine foes have scored more than 94 points.
The Nuggets also aren't strong enough defensively to keep the Spurs in check. San Antonio is the second-best shooting team in the league.

Western Michigan vs Northern Illinois

5* Bonus Play on Western Michigan +3

A few weeks ago we would have backed Northern Illinois in this matchup, but the loss of Huskies Drew Hare takes away Northern Illinois' passing threat, and we'll grab the points with Western Michigan as a direct result of that injury. Western Michigan put up nearly 500 yards of offense in their loss against Bowling Green last week, but couldn't contain the Falcon's passing attack.

That won't be a problem this time around, and they are better equipped defensively to slow down a run-heavy Huskies offense. Western Michigan will have success running the ball here, but it's the matchup of their passing game against the Northern Illinois secondary that really has us liking their chances of not only covering the spread, but winning this game outright. Western Michigan is 11-3 ATS as a road underdog, and a perfect 6-0 against the spread on the road vs. conference foes over the last two seasons. 5* Bonus Play on Western Michigan.

Pacers vs 76ers

Bonus Play Indiana Pacers

I'm recommending a play on the Pacers minus the points on Wednesday night. The 76ers are still searching for their first win of the season, entering tonight's tilt 0-11 SU. They have covered each of their last two SU losses, and in fact, led the Mavericks in the fourth quarter last time out. While Philly's young squad is working hard, it looked to me like the Mavs lost focus after building a 19-point lead in the second quarter. The nucleus is in place with Nerlens Noel, Jahlil Okafor, and T.J. McConnell, but they're in learning mode and that means making costly mistakes more often than playing winning basketball. While Philly played a decent brand of defense in the second half last time out, they turned the ball over 27 times at the other end. Nik Stauskas is ice cold, Indiana has dominated Philly of late, winning seven of eight, and the Sixers don't have the goods, to defend Paul George, who's been tearing it up on the offensive end. Indiana is on a 7-0 ATS run against Eastern Conference opponents and 4-0 ATS on the road. Meanwhile, the 76ers have covered just two of their last 11 at home. I'm recommending a play on the Pacers on Wednesday. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer.

Blazers vs Rockets

8* NBA Free Pick Portland Trail Blazers

The Houston Rockets have been a sorry sight of late coming off four consecutive losses. The Portland Trail Blazers have admittedly been even worse with six straight defeats, but I like their chances of covering the spread at Toyota Center tonight. Houston is only 3-8 ATS for the season and the underdog is 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings with Portland. The Rockets have the third worst rebounds allowed in the league at 47.5 and I think they'll struggle with the Trail Blazers big guys tonight.

Canucks vs Jets

5* Free Pick Winnipeg Jets

Two struggling teams will clash when the Nucks will visit the Jets at MTS Centre Wednesday night. Winnipeg has just one point over its last six games but it has played only one home-game so far this month. Netminder Michael Hutchinson has won both of his starts at home this season and made 25 saves in the narrow 3-2 loss at St. Louis Monday. "I thought we played pretty well," Hutchinson told the team's official website. "We had some great energy and jump all night." Vancouver has struggled of late as well going 1-4-2 over its last seven games. Both Ryan Miller and Jacob Markstrom have failed to impress between the pipes and I think whoever of them that will tend the net here will be in for a rough game tonight.
