well to tell you the truth that young mans father & grandfather did not have the same opportunities yours did...His father may not have even had the right to vote & his grandfather definately did not. So affirmitave action is the way of leveling the playing field... not only today... but over the past 100 years or so. Additionally if you do the research you find that most University applicants are WHITE, not simply becauz they have better grades but they come from a wealthy generation where they do not have to work for anything, tuition, housing, all paid for by their parents trust funds. Black children do not have any of this as the 'civil rights' of their forefathers were so badly violated...
Walk around the Campus of Harvard... Tell me how many black men you see my friend. Then tell me if they let in one in once in a while with a C average for PR reasons that WHITE america should be up in arms?
It is not perfect... not many things of this nature are.
Beleive me, your son has a much better chance in today's society than a black person's son. Yes even today. & Yes, even if he needs to get A+ & the black kid only needs a C. Your son still has a far greater chance at success...
