It was a good night for repubs but you gotta look at the number of seats that dems had to defend as opposed to repubs. This is a cycle...and you saw the same thing happen the other way in 2006. In a typical election during an 8 year term, the seat gain is typically 6 seats. Repubs right now have 7...it is way more the situation than who they president is. If obama ran tomorrow, he would still defeat any current repub candidate.
I agree with the cyclical stuff, But Obama's war mongering policy compounded it. It just deflated what was the base, that might come out a bit more in a midterm. Obama would probably defeat any Republican, but that's more because of the quality of candidates over there than any positive for Obama. But the dynamics of that race would be far different than tonight. Luckily, Obama ain't running again. From my selfish viewpoint, I hope this shakes up The Democratic Party enough to repudiate Hillary, and look elsewhere. I know that's unrealistic, but I can hope. :think2:.
