Lets not rule out JPM stock as part of the settlment as well. I wouldnt mind having some JPM shares in my account. Their stock is probably heading to $55+ this year anyway ...

Regardless, I think we're going to see a new 52-wk high over the next week, too many positive developments happening.

Big money says they're going to take this higher, but we're bumping up against the upper end of the channel. So, we are either going to break-thru the upper side next week, or we're going to pause for a breather until the chart catches up. I think we'll break thru, but big money will dictate this for us.

Chart:

Poor Retail, they had it right from the beginning but they've been left behind in the dust and most are selling into the run. Foolish, they shouldve stuck with their guts because they were right back in September.

My guess is if settlement comes it would be between $4 - $12. UQ could be the biggest winner amongs Wamu classes, that explains why money start to flow in UQ while KQ & PQ do not move much in the last few days.
WaMu turned down $8 in 2008. If JPM got WaMu for less then that now it would be a huge win for them. The EC said they believed the commons would get $20-$30.

If the Hedge Funds realize how much this is likely to be worth pending a global settlement, I'm under the belief they will likely continue buying this up thru next Friday -- pending a few occassional shake-outs.

Just keep your eye on the OBV ... if it keeps heading higher, there's no reason to sell ... follow the big money.

I've seen other people mention the $20-30 number as well, but I've never actually been able to confirm that with an article. That seems pretty optimistic to me, but I think it would be absolutely hilarious if they were able to nail JPM's nuts to the wall with a settlement that big.

Also, when the first $8 was offered there was no EC in place, so the money would have been going to less people. It seems like with more hands in the pot, it would water down the offer even more? Then again, maybe JPM is getting to a point where they just want to settle this and be done with it. I think they know they will be just fine once this whole WAMU debacle is behind them.

The stock has run up quite a bit lately, but IF there is a settlement the current share price would probably be a fraction of what the settlement price ends up being. I'm very curious to see how next Friday's hearing plays out. WAMU should get the $4B, which I'm guessing would make the PPS go up considerably. If for whatever reason there is another delay, I wouldn't be surprised to see the price drop.

And I should add that I've been pretty skeptical about this stock. The reason for that is because I live in Seattle and am very familiar with WAMU. Although it's a pretty big bank, it's not on the same level as B of A, Wells Fargo, US Bank, etc. It was really hard for me to believe they could take down the FDIC and Chase. They still haven't done that, and I'm still fairly skeptical about them winning, but the case is going better for them than I thought it would.

One last thing as far as a potential settlement goes... I've seen a lot of people on other boards saying they think there will be a settlement before next Friday's hearing. I just don't see that happening, and here's why -- Chase is in the process of converting their employees old WAMU stock into Chase stock. Apparently this process has to be done by March 23rd. It makes no sense to me that they would fork out a settlement before the 23rd, because they would essentially be paying THEIR employees (former WAMU employees) millions of dollars for holding WAMU stock. The same WAMU that would have beaten them in court. If they wait until after the 23rd they won't owe those employees anything (at least if I am understanding that correctly).

Not too late yet, but you could potentially lose money over the short-term if the stock pulls-back and/or of their is an unfavorable ruling on Friday. Regardless, I think it's money in the bag by March 23rd.

Very speculative regardless, but this is a gambler's forum. Not to mention if you would've bought back in August when I started this thread, that you'd be up about 300% already. I still think this is heading higher and if a global settlement takes place, it's going a lot higher. You just wont have a chance to buy it if there's a settlement because it'll open at that price appx.

I purchased xx,xxx shares the monday before the February 5th hearing.. Been following very closely, and called in and listened to the March 4th hearing.. Haven't been up to date in this thread (Been lurking on Ihub a lot), but will try to get more involved here.. I'm definitely encouraged by what happenned, but think people predicting $20-$30 are out of their minds. IMO if there is a settlement, it could be something like $2-$4 per share, and then a stock swap, maybe 5:1 or 10:1 with JPM shares.. IMO I would take that in a second and be happy as hell.. Of course something like $8 to maybe even $12 or $15 IS possible, but I don't realy see it.. I'm "just a college kid" and anything over a $10/share would basically pay for college.. Weeeee! I'd be happy with even $2, as that would be a nice 10-bagger for me, but the more the better, and I think we can get plenty more than $2/share.. But anyways, I'm not really expecting a settlement by next friday. There is a chance that they come up with something just for the $4B SJ as a partial settlement, but I'm not exactly sure how that would make things go in terms of PPS or the overall trial. Regardless, this has already doubled for me, but I couldn't care less.. IMO the day-to-day PPS doesn't mean much at all.. Im in it to win it babyyyy!

GO WAMUUUUUUU!!!

I'm about to join the party guys, hope I'm not too late. I know I've missed this nice run up the last few days, but still hoping for plenty more pending this settlement.

Holy crap! I was thinking there might be a little pullback after the runups on Thursday and Friday. Looks like I was slightly off. Why is today so much different than last week? It's odd that they didn't get such a big spike until 4 or 5 days after Rosen's comments.

At any rate, I feel sorry for the guys over at Ihub. They aren't going to be able to piss and moan about the MMs keeping the stock down today.

I know exactly what you mean lol. I hope you didn't get caught with your pants down. The activity reminded me of last time when I sold ALL my PQs on a flip the day before they went from 34 to 110.

I sold 1/3 of my Wamuq's on Friday and had a flashback so I rebought it. Good thing lol.

Today I sold some of my Wamuq position and moved it to PQ because IMO they need to catch up. I think the SJ helps PQ most of all.

I drew some trendlines and I'm thinking commons pull back to .42ish but I don't know jack.

GL longs.
