I became a Braves fan when I was 5 years old. They were the only team I could watch every game because they were on WTBS.
For some reason I've always loved sports. I became a baseball fan way before football. Did not like football till I was 10 but could watch a baseball game from start to finish before I went to first grade.
I was a Dale Murphy lover.
The year after I became a Braves WGN showed up on cable so now I had 2 teams I could watch all the games on.
And back then all the Cubs home games were day games.
So I had many days when I was 5 and 6 years old where I would watch the Cubs at 2 and the Braves at 6:30.
Watched Harry Carry and Steve Stone daily .
The theme music for the Cubs broadcast back then was "Jump" from Van Halen.
Must have seen the 588-2300 empire commercial 1,000,000 times.
Ryan Sandberg, Ron Cey, Leon Durham, Keith Morland , Jody Davis, Lee Smith.
Watched that group hundreds of games.
I am 1 year short of being the biggest Cubs homer at this forum.
If WGN would have been the station that hit cable one your before WTBS and not the other way around my posting handle would not be choptalk.
Who knows my handle might be Harry Carry and the real Harry Carry would have had to come up with a different name . Lol
So yes the Cubs have always been my #2.
I have never pulled against them unless they were playing the Braves.
And I am no doubt pulling for them to go all the way this season.
