you hit the nail on the head -- ironically, mentally the eagles are in nearly the same position the vikes were in going into last weeks game.

Randy Moss

tonite, randy's response to the $10,000 fine:

"hell, 10 grand ain't nothing to me...sh*t, next time i might just shake my dick...."

not quite the remorseful response taglibue was looking for....

and he's the vikings leader....

Hansen, I follow the squad from a local perspective as well though now reside in Wisconsin, lived in Mpls for many years. Curious which writer(s) you know. I heard this same "satisfied" scuttlebutt on a mb for Vikes fans but the writer was a Philly beat guy. Tice on his radio show tonight didn't sound like they were satisfied. I think this is the hardest of the 4 games to cap this weekend, though Jets/Pit is a close second. Too many intangibles/unknowns.

As for the writers' perspective, its' 50/50 whether those guys know what they are talking about or are just seeing what they want. We'll find out Sunday, I guess.

soucheray, reusse, and jensen -- also sansevere kind of thru mutual friends. you need to understand these guys are telling me these things from conversations that they are having w/ players, coaches in an "off the record" perspective. these are not things you are going to be reading in the local rags -- however, i've seen a few hint at this rather subliminally.

i agree that this game has some unknowns making it a bit difficult to cap, but at the same time there are some very tangible realities.

Hansen, see my post in the other thread for my capping perspective on this game.

You call in to Souch/Pat on Saturdays? I used to get tons of laughs out of their old Monday night show back in the day, but they're kind of a sports afterthought since KFAN came along. Sansevere was better when he was a beat writer, as a columnist he's lumped in with the rest of the gang in the twin cities, always going negative on everything. IMO they all do it as an unconscious overreaction to grandpa Sid, I guess it's only natural. PPD writers don't have it as bad as Strib guys obviously; I do think Souhan is a breath of fresh air and Seifert is the best Vikes beat guy since PPD/Bill W. left town.

Keep up the good posts,

The Eagles made it look easy...I'll be interesting to see what the opening line is when the falcons roll into town.

Hey hansen bros...

I haven't ran any numbers on the upcoming Championship games yet but I can tell you that Philly only laying -4.5 or 5 to the Michael Vick led falcons looks to be a cheap price from the outset.

I remember vividly making and collecting on my largest playoff wager in 2002 by going against the falcons when they visited Philly as -7.5 dogs after pulling the upset at Green Bay the week before.....Final score was Philly 20-6.

Public perception is high on falcons at the moment after Vick and company rolled over the 8-8 regular season lambs, the difference in the upcoming NFC Championship game will be that Vick will be forced to throw the ball which of course is the kids major weakness, the Eagle defensive secondary will probably pick his pocket multiple times.

I am sure I'll be able to find a prop on Vick interceptions and off the top of my head will guess the line will be +/- 2 INT's....I'll take the OVER.

take care

you may be right about vick and the int's, but the eagles def was vulnerable to culpepper running today -- and if he a successful, w/vick running you haven't seen anything yet!!!

one more thing, this is not the falcon team you bet on before -- this atlanta team has a defense, a GOOD defense!!!

Great info indeed. This was a great thread. The Eagles made it look easy. They left 10-17 points out there and still covered!!! Sweet!!!

hansen bros....

I was bored so I went ahead and did a quick handicap of the upcoming NFC Chamionship game, Vick and the falcons looked good running the ball against the lambs 29th ranked rush defense, however, playing against Philly's top 10 defense will be a totally different story.

I would look for the Eagles to put 8 in the box and force Vick and company to beat them thru the air with a falcon passing offense that is ranked 30th in the NFL.

You are right of course that the Eagles looked a little vulnerable against Culpepper's running, however, the Eagles had to respect Culpeppers arm and the vikings #2 ranked passing attack...there's nothing to respect with atlanta's passing game or their QB other then Vicks scrambling abiltiy.

The falcons road record this season was a very mediocre 4-4 straight up and ATS and the Michael Vick led falcons are 0-3 straight up and 1-2 ATS in their last three away from that comfy home dome of theirs.

For value sake and to keep the line from crossing over a key number, I went ahead and bought the 1/2 point to get the line down to Eagles -4....Go Eagles!!...now I've just gotta wait for the props to come out and see what the O/U is on how many interceptions Vick will throw.

take care and good luck!

your appreciation makes it all worth while -- a lot of times the difference is what someone locally might know that isn't out there in the general media.

i'm a huge steeler fan and would like to see them win but when money's on the line , gotta go w/ the best bet out there.

and its early ,but i'm loving ne...
