The only thing I don't like about Furyk is that this is going to be a LONG course for him. He's only ranked 173 in driving distance.

Sergio is another I'm leary of due to his putting. Nothing like baked poa annua to make an already bad putter worse. Sergio is ranked 108 in putting.

I played Anthony Kim a couple of times... ranked 10th in putting and 7th in driving distance. He's young but I think the value at +6600 is worth a play. He showed some balls in his win.

Beemer's a good friend of mine.... just hoping he makes the cut this time. As far as other players to win go, not really. This tournament is just so brutal I think it's hard to look beyond the obvious. Phil and Tiger aren't the faves for no reason.

Don't recognize the nickname, is he pro or am? Guess he has his tee-time already?
Opens still require precision, so I guess I'll look at those players. Fairways and greens, and of course good putters.

That is cool. I read his book. It was a real good read.

Was he as wild as the book depicted him? I was really bummed when I heard his long-time caddy got killed.

Retief Goosen to miss the cut +220.

The way Goosen is playing this year, I don't see him playing more than two days.

Oakas,

He was a little out of control for awhile. A case of too much a little too soon. He's married now with two kids and has calmed down a lot. What you see on tv is what you get with him.... great guy and funny as hell.

Bullets,

I like that play on Goosen.

Thanks Max, enjoy the Open.

I had a chance to go this year but decided to go to the Tour Championship this fall instead. I have two guys I know in the Open this year. Ian Leggat and Charlie Beljan.

Bullets,

You'll probably have a better time than we will.... less people and traffic. But I've never been to an Open so I thought this would be a good one to attend. Fortunately Rich qualified so that will make it a little more bearable. Unfortunately, he's behind the glamour pairing so that will make it a zoo. He's pissed about drawing one of the slower players on tour but he said it's going to be slow anyway.

He and Beljan were the two who qualified in Texas to make the Open. I think they played together.

Oh, Rich Beam, I like him a lot, he seems like a class guy. One of the personalities I usually pull for. Good luck to him.

Torrey Pines is a great course and a beautiful area. If I was a bigger golf fan I'd definitely head out there this week.
A few years ago, got the chance to go out there and see the place and even bought my dad a U.S. Open 2008 shirt from there (this was 2006, I think). I'm sure he was the envy of his little golf group in Virginia wearing that, I know he was excited wearing it.
