Ding ding ding, I got you rattled. No worries, shud OSU cover ATS or win the game I will be the 1st one to create a post to say, I was wrong and the right play was OSU. Will you do the same for Oregon backers if they cover the spread? We shall see!
Who said I was on Ohio State? All I did was give an alternative opinion to your argument for Oregon.

With Bama out, I really don't care who wins this game and will not bet it. That being said, I would have to give and edge to coaching to Urban Meyer. This guy has been amazing during his 13 years as a head coach.

17-6 Bowling Green
22-2 Utah
65-15 Florida
37-3 Ohio State

141-26 (84%) with two national titles. The worse season he has ever had is 8-5 during his last year with the Gators. He's also
8-2 in Bowl games.

As I said, I don't know whose going to win and don't really care, but I give the coaching advantage to Ohio State.

You obviously haven't been handicapping very long. That is a simpleton's approach if your capping games based on turnover margin.. Look back at the bowl season and look at how many teams with a + TO margin number lost their games. I've got news for you, there are a lot. Now go back and look at how many teams covered as dogs who out rushed their opponents. There were a lot. This bowl season those dogs were 12-2 ATS with most of them winning outright. You would have made a much better argument with me if you had said Oregon will out rush Ohio State. Chances are if Oregon does, they will win and probably cover the game. The better rushing teams control the tempo of the game, and keep the high octane offenses at bay. That is the name of the game in college football. It's why you don't see any Texas Tech type of teams in the National Championship game. They can't run the ball. Florida State was also a bad rushing team. They averaged only 129 yards per game. Ohio State averages 261 ypg. They'll be a entirely different type of opponent for Oregon.

GS I agree. Anyone that thinks this is a cinch for Oregon needs to step back and take another look. This match up is close enough that turnovers could make the difference but those are unpredictable. I was impressed with Ohio St and they will be up and not in awe. If Oregon goes into this game over confident they will pay a price. Ohio St is hungry. I look forward to the game and I am taking the point (+7) and may the best team win.

Season stats are what they are but how a team finishes the season is much more relevant now. I give the HC nod to the Urban legend and that could be a factor.

Russ, I believe coaching plays a huge role in a game like this one.

No one will convince me that Ohio State has better players than Alabama.

The difference in the Sugar Bowl game was Meyer and his staff out coached Saben and his staff.

Wasn't even close!

I've always liked Urban Meyer coached teams. They always seem to do the little things well and seldom beat themselves.

How good are the OSU corners or DB's in general? Will they be able to go man on the ducks speed, so a spy can be on Mariota at all times?

I'm no expert but I'm not putting my $$$ on a 3rd string 2 game QB (because 2games does not tell me anything about how reliable he is)

vs

one of the best to play the game and who is leading the season in QB rating and is a Senior and current Heisman winner. The kid is a stud.

As far as OSU Versus Bama... Meyer did two key things to beat Bama and for what it's worth they deserved the win. Great job OSU.

1. Cardel had to decide very quickly within 2-3 sec where he wanted to pass the ball, if there was nothing just run with it. UM limited the amount of decisions he needed to make because he is too new to the role. In fact UB said after the game when asked how he thought Cardel played, he responded with "he did what we asked him to do"

2. They double covered Amari Cooper and forced Bama to beat them using another reciever. When they were behind and chasing they got nothing from their other recievers.

Oregon is a different beast and it's going to take a lot more effort to beat them then a familiar SEC rival UM faced when he was in the SEC.

Oregon or nothing.

I would rather lose knowing I had my cash on the best horse in the race.

This is probably the best argument that I've heard for Oregon so far. I still wonder how UO is going to stop the Ohio St. power run game. Something the Ducks have traditionally had problems with in the past against teams like Stanford, LSU and in their bowl games.

Answer is..... probably they WON'T stop that running game. Let's be honest..... Ducks DO NOT play any D. They don't even pretend to. Just want to get the ball back quicker and outscore you. They WON'T play any D...... Ohio State will score pretty big..... and all that means nothing because Ducks may score 70 themselves. Look at some of OSU's efforts this year on D. A JOKE!

OSU will score big..... but may still lose by 10 or more. That's the way it is. All the talking heads on TV are trying to tell us OSU will win. We will see!

He made me a die hard Gators fan.........miss that guy over there. He's a class act and is a smart man who knows what he's doing. Pretty cool thing to see him and Saban shake hands after the game.....2 guys that are just awesome coaching CFB kids. Hard to go against Urban Meyer and the squad...I still love the OVER......both teams can score the rock......this will be a very fast paced game.

Just an opinion from many old football guys..........most Bama guys.

Nick Saban is the "best" CEO in college football.

Urban Meyer is the "best" coach in college football.

Because Ohio State's spring semester doesn't start until Monday, the Buckeyes are not required to adhere to the NCAA's 20-hour rule, limiting countable athletic activities to four hours a day and 20 hours a week. Oregon's academic term began this week, so the Ducks cannot exceed 20 hours, according to NCAA rules.

Quite a disadvantage. Link
