Really disappointed in Benfica and that's all I have to say.

They just were not finishing and were terrible on set plays.

Celtic played rough and i'm surprised the Celtic keeper wasn't charged with a penalty for not even going for the ball.

Not the way I saw it at all. If Benfica blow them out of the water in Portugal then I have only one conclusion about tonight's match and I will keep that to myself.

Noticed that Man U looked impotent on the score board. LOL. They have one eye on Sunday.

Moving on!!!

Taking Young Boys to beat Liverpool tomorrow and the over 2.5 for those that want to fade. LOL

Spartak Moscow vs. Celtic
12:00pm ET

This is the early kick-off match that is being played in Russia.

Celtic’s first match at home was a farce. I watched it and I couldn’t believe my eyes. This was an arranged draw between the clubs. Look Celtic had ZERO SHOTS ON GOAL all match and Benfica had TWO SHOTS ON GOAL. So the mighty Celtic’s home record still stands. It’s a fortress, yadda, yadda, yadda and the match was fixed. LOL what else is new.

Spartak Moscow’s match versus Barca could have been historic as they found themselves leading after 59’. Let’s be clear hear Spartak were out played and possession was Barca’s 72% of the time. Spartak’s only 2 shots on goal went in. They will be without Romulo today and their main keeper Andrew Dikan. However, Spartak have no less than 4 Brazilians and 2 Argentines and many European internationals including former Celtic Aiden McGeady who plays for Sprtak now and has 2 goals and 3 assists to date.

The match in Barcelona although they lost gave Spartak a huge boost of confidence as they have won their last three matches since (3-1, 1-2, 1-3).

It seems the ZERO SHOT ON GOAL DRAW versus Benfica boosted Celtic’s confidence too as they have won their last three since as well (2-0, 4-1, 0-2). In those three matches Celtic managed 11, No Info, 12 shots on goal in the three matches respectively.

How do you go from ZERO SHOTS ON GOAL to an average of 11.5 shots on goal? That’s because you don’t belong in the Champions League and the match was fixed for the draw. Benfica will win their home match as that is the pay back for the fix.

Celtic will not be able to arrange a fix in Russia. The Russian mob is too strong and Spartak will not comply. I doubt they would have gotten to the referee as well. They will be on their own and since Benfica and Barcelona are the two teams expected to advance in this group it will be up to the Head-to-Head matches between Celtic and Spartak that will determine 3rd place.

In conclusion, Celtic may feel mighty in attack in the SPL but they are toothless internationally. Spartak Moscow is too much offense for them. I looked a dozen times at this match and for the life of me I can’t see how Celtic will handle the Spartak offense and they certainly do not pose any legitimate threat of attack.

Spartak Moscow -1 (+110) 3.5 Units

this french referee might need a semi automatic on his way out of the stadium tonight...not sure what he is even watching sometimes.....if he didn't have the voice in his ear he might have been gunned down by lennon and his ira supporters already

Academy Award Nomination

I am sending this performance to the Academy. WTF was this Referee on?

He played the advantage and was going to book the Celtic player for diving. At least that's the way it appeard to me.

Lennon puts on a good front, chastising IRA chants, etc. but he relys on the Green Brigade to help him with matters behind behind closed doors.

LOL. Hard Knocks. We live to punt another day!

Manchester City vs. Borussia Dortmund

Man City knows they need a positive result as do all the teams in the Group of Death especially after the heart breaker in Madrid. There may be some merit in giving away the half ball handicap and taking City today as they need to stay in the race. Dortmund has not played well on the road but they are a better team than last year and it takes a few matches to get your rhythm.

Since City has conceded in every match they played and should experience some problems with a quick transition team like BvB. City has to take this game to Dortmund and can’t sit back. Dortmund cannot play any other way but the way they do; fast attack minded football.

Could be a 2-2, 3-1 match it City goes down early which is what I expect to happen.

Manchester City vs. Borussia Dortmund Over 3 (+130) 2 Units

Porto vs. PSG

PSG have high hopes for their club after some key signings such as Silva and Ibrahimovic. They covered the handicap in the last five matches with one push and that indicates that they are playing better every week.

Porto is leading in Portugal and is a tough home team. In their last 14 league matches they only conceded four goals and won all but one match which was a draw.

Too much testosterone on both teams with respect to offense for me to ignore the over in this match today. I expect some fire power today in what might end up in a draw.

Porto vs. PSG Over 2.5 (+105) 2 Units

Shalke vs. Montpellier

Again I’m not impressed with the French sides in the CL other than PSG.

Montpellier has very little creativity on the attacking side of the field. When I watched the match against Arsenal (in France) I saw nothing that excited me in backing this club.

Schalke plays great attack minded football. I can’t help but remind myself of the match against Dusseldorf and the back and forth action. I expect Schalke to play aggressive at home and try to net an early goal to but the visitors on their heels and then score another. It can be two wins for Shalke and they would love to have max points in the first two group matches.

We will see a difference in level and class in this match and Schalke should win easily.

Shalke 04 -1 (-130) 3.9 units

Quite remarkable how the two overs I capped to go over have yet to score. LOL.

The keepers in Machester are standing on their heads.

The PSG match strikers can't hit the net. LOL

Has to be one of the worst days I have felt in a long long time.

Not meant to be, with Shalke missing an easy 1 on 1 with the keeper and give up a goal at he death for the even.

Hart standing on his head. If he played like that for England they may have been in the WC finals.

PSG/Porto well it was like watching eight graders at a school dance. They want to make a move but no one does and stands against the wall all evening.

Very very sorry for those that followed. I will make it up in the EPL this weekend. No Europa for me.

Moving on!

Well I sat back and watched the many fixed matches yesterday and said to myself….”What a great day to NOT wager.”

Ajax vs Manchester City
2:45pm ET

I see a mismatch in quality in this fixture today.

Ajax are not the Ajax of last season. They are weaker and the talent is certainly less than adequate to be very competitive in the CL.

When I look at their match versus B. Dortmund I wondered how they didn’t lose 4-0 and then they played Real Madrid and the wheels fell off losing 1-4 at home with little or no defense.

Not going any further on this one. If the fix is in then so be it; but no way can Ajax walk away with a point in this one today.

Manchester City -0.5(-120) 3.6 Units

Borussia Dortmund vs. Real Madrid
2:45pm ET

Both clubs have the capability to score and they have proved it in previous matches. There is an advantage to RM in quality but BD can stand up to anyone as their style in the Bundesliga is all about goals.

I really see this going the way of a Barcelona-Real Madrid match where both teams press and score goals.

Look…..BD don’t know what defense is and RM can be expected to net a couple so why not the over in what should be a 2-2 draw?

Borussia Dortmund vs. Real Madrid Over 3(-105) 3 Units

Doing a treble:
1 Unit (+513)

City -0.5
BD/Rm Over 3
Zenit -1 (This match is at 12:00pm ET)

LOL. I was thinking the same thing.

I'm sooooo lucky. I bought the 1/2 goal on 5dimes bringing the total down to 2.5 (-145) and put a solid amount down on the OVER! I was very unhappy in the first 40'.........then saw some goal scoring and calmed down =)

Do these teams not try as hard in these shitty Champions League games??
exactly the opposite... teams rest players on weekend games in preparation for Champions League. City are a public team. I'm half Dutch and a long time Ajax supporter. This result doesn't surprise me in the slightest. It has nothing to do with City not trying, if you're watching this game at all you would see that isn't close to the case.

Ajax have plenty of chemistry, they are great on the ball and can score in bunches. Couldn't be happier with this scoreline (with all do respect of course Aruk). But hopefully now Ajax will begin to get the respect they deserve.

Manchester City's team tonight costed more than €220 million. The Ajax eleven: €4 million... you can't buy teamwork. This is "total football" at its finest.
