Preview: Reds at Brewers
GAME: Cincinnati Reds (10-10) at Milwaukee Brewers (10-11)
DATE/TIME: Tuesday, April 25 - 7:40 PM EST
WHERE: Miller Park, Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Three weeks into the season and the Cincinnati Reds already have had more than their fill of Eric Thames - with 14 meetings against the Milwaukee Brewers still to go. Losers of five of their last six, the Reds will look to curb the power of the red-hot Thames when they continue their three-game series in Milwaukee on Tuesday night.

Thames clubbed a pair of home runs to lead the Brewers to an 11-7 victory in the series opener, matching the team record with 10 blasts in April with five games left in the month. Seven of Thames' homers have come against Cincinnati, which has lost four of five meetings between the clubs. Scott Feldman, the Opening Day starter for the Reds, has permitted three runs over 18 innings in his last three outings and will try to keep Thames in the park. Feldman will be opposed by right-hander Zach Davies, an 11-game winner in 2016 who is off to a rocky start for the second straight year.

TV: 7:40 p.m. ET, FSN Ohio (Cincinnati), FSN Wisconsin (Milwaukee)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Reds RH Scott Feldman (1-1, 2.38 ERA) vs. Brewers RH Zach Davies (1-2, 8.24)

Feldman pitched primarily in relief last year but has acquitted himself well in the rotation since a season debut in which he lasted 4 2/3 innings against Philadelphia. The 34-year-old had to settle for a no-decision last time out despite tossing seven innings of one-run ball in an eventual extra-inning loss to Baltimore. Feldman has made five starts versus the Brewers, going 2-2 with a 3.46 ERA.

Davies lost his first three starts a year ago and is following that same path by surrendering 18 earned runs over 19 2/3 innings through his first four turns. He earned his first victory last time out despite giving up four runs and eight hits in a season-high 5 1/3 innings. He was 1-1 with a 3.97 ERA in four starts versus the Reds in 2016 while Joey Votto and Adam Duvall are both 5-for-14 with a homer against him.

OVERTIME

1. Reds RF Scott Schebler is 4-for-9 with two homers and six RBIs in his last two games.

2. Brewers 3B Hernan Perez had a three-run homer and run-scoring double Monday to double his RBI total for the season.

3. Milwaukee C Manny Pina is riding a career-high 10-game hitting streak.

Preview: Twins at Rangers
GAME: Minnesota Twins (9-10) at Texas Rangers (9-11)
DATE/TIME: Tuesday, April 25 - 8:05 PM EST
WHERE: Globe Life Park in Arlington, Arlington, Texas

Ervin Santana has been perhaps the most unhittable pitcher in the majors and looks to continue his sizzling stretch when the Minnesota Twins visit the Texas Rangers on Tuesday night for the second of a three-game series. Minnesota snapped the Rangers' four-game winning streak with a 3-2 victory in the series opener, improving to 5-1 in its last six in Arlington.

Santana has surrendered two runs and a scant nine hits over 28 innings through his first four starts, a pronounced turnaround from his 7-11 campaign of 2016. The Twins had dropped six of seven before rallying for the win on Monday night, courtesy of Brian Dozier's three-run double that matched his RBI total from his first 17 games. Texas features an all-or-nothing offense, leading the American League with 28 homers but sitting next-to-last with a .211 team batting average. Right-hander Andrew Cashner, coming off a stellar start for the Rangers, will make his third career AL start against the Twins.

TV: 8:05 p.m. ET, FSN North (Minnesota), FSN Southwest (Texas)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Twins RH Ervin Santana (3-0, 0.64 ERA) vs. Rangers RH Andrew Cashner (0-1, 2.38)

Santana permitted one run on four hits - his highest hit total allowed in his four starts - last time out versus Cleveland, continuing his string of stellar early-season performances. He went the distance in his previous turn, tossing a one-hit shutout against the White Sox after blanking Chicago over six innings six days earlier. He is 13-11 with a 5.57 ERA in 31 career starts against Texas.

Cashner remains in search of his first victory in the AL and could use some run support from the Rangers, who have scored once in his first two starts. The 30-year-old Texan is coming off a strong outing in a 1-0 victory over Kansas City, permitting three hits and four walks over six scoreless innings. Cashner struggled in his season debut at Seattle with four runs (three earned) allowed.

WALK-OFFS

1. Twins RHP Brandon Kintzler has converted all five save chances and has yet to allow a run.

2. Rangers CF Carlos Gomez is 8-for-21 during a five-game hitting streak.

3. Twins 1B Joe Mauer has hit safely in eight of his last nine games.

Preview: Royals at White Sox
GAME: Kansas City Royals (7-12) at Chicago White Sox (9-9)
DATE/TIME: Tuesday, April 25 - 8:10 PM EST
WHERE: Guaranteed Rate Field, Chicago, Illinois

Danny Duffy is pitching like an ace in the early stages of the season and looks to produce his fifth consecutive stellar outing when the Kansas City Royals visit the Chicago White Sox for the middle contest of their three-game series on Tuesday. Duffy has allowed only four runs in four starts and has been one of the American League's top starters since moving into the rotation in the middle of May 2016.

Duffy - who ranks fifth in the AL with a 1.32 ERA - began last season in the bullpen, but the results have backed up Kansas City's decision to permanently keep him in the rotation. He is 14-3 with a 3.24 ERA since the Royals made the decision - including a 10-game winning streak last season - and now is stepping up further to fill the void created by the tragic offseason death of Yordano Ventura. Duffy will be looking to end Kansas City's five-game losing streak as well as stifle a Chicago attack that registered 15 hits and went 7-for-12 with runners in scoring position while steamrolling the Royals 12-1 in Monday's series opener. Matt Davidson went 3-for-4 with a homer and four RBIs while Tim Anderson (three runs scored) and Leury Garcia (two runs) also had three hits apiece.

TV: 8:10 p.m. ET, FSN Kansas City, CSN Chicago

PITCHING MATCHUP: Royals LH Danny Duffy (2-0, 1.32 ERA) vs. White Sox RH Dylan Covey (0-1, 7.84)

Duffy has pitched at least six innings and allowed two runs or fewer in each of his four starts, tying the third-longest such streak to open a season in franchise history. The 28-year-old settled for a no-decision in his last turn despite scattering four hits over 7 1/3 innings against Texas. Duffy is 6-2 with a 3.20 ERA in 16 career appearances (14 starts) against the White Sox but has experienced issues with Jose Abreu (10-for-31, one homer).

Covey is making his third major-league start, with the first one going well before he was shellacked in the second. After holding Minnesota to one run and five hits in 5 1/3 innings in his debut, the 25-year-old gave up eight runs and 10 hits over five frames in a loss to the New York Yankees on Wednesday. Covey served up three homers to the Yankees and opposing batters have a collective .357 average against him.

WALK-OFFS

1. The White Sox were just 5-14 against the Royals last season, making their series-opening romp even more eye-opening.

2. Kansas City managed just two hits in the opener and has scored only six runs during its five-game skid.

3. Chicago RHP Zach Putnam (elbow) was unavailable for the opener and is expected to be sidelined Tuesday as well.

Preview: Blue Jays at Cardinals
GAME: Toronto Blue Jays (5-14) at St. Louis Cardinals (9-10)
DATE/TIME: Tuesday, April 25 - 8:15 PM EST
WHERE: Busch Stadium, St. Louis, Missouri

The St. Louis Cardinals hope to pick up right where they left off at Busch Stadium when they kick off their 10-game homestand with the opener of a three-game interleague series against the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday. St. Louis recorded a trio of 2-1 home victories over Pittsburgh last week before visiting Milwaukee for a four-game set.

The Cardinals dropped the opener against the Brewers but bounced back with three straight wins, including a 6-4 triumph on Sunday in which Mike Leake worked six solid innings while helping his own cause with a two-run single. Toronto failed in its attempt to record its first winning streak of the season Monday as it dropped a 2-1 decision to the Los Angeles Angels. Russell Martin went 2-for-3 with a home run as the Blue Jays were unable to hold a 1-0 advantage. Martin hopes to continue to swing a hot bat after going 5-for-11 during Toronto's split of the four-game series in Los Angeles.

TV: 8:15 p.m. ET, Sportsnet One (Toronto), FSN Midwest (St. Louis)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Blue Jays RH Marco Estrada (0-1, 2.63 ERA) vs. Cardinals RH Michael Wacha (2-1, 2.41)

Estrada has scattered seven hits and recorded 15 strikeouts over 13 scoreless innings in his last two starts but came away empty-handed. The 33-year-old Mexican has given up more than two runs in just one of his four outings but remains in search of his first win of the season. Estrada has yet to record a victory against St. Louis, going 0-5 with a 5.10 ERA in 17 career appearances (eight starts).

Wacha is coming off a victory over Pittsburgh on Wednesday in which he allowed one run and four hits over 6 2/3 innings. The 25-year-old native of Iowa has permitted fewer than four earned runs and three walks in each of his three turns this year. Wacha will be facing Toronto for the first time in his career.

WALK-OFFS

1. Blue Jays manager John Gibbons has been ejected from each of the team's last two games.

2. Cardinals C Yadier Molina has fared well against Estrada in his career, going 13-for-24 with five RBIs.

3. Toronto has not visited St. Louis since 2011 and hasn't lost there since 2003.

Preview: Nationals at Rockies
GAME: Washington Nationals (13-6) at Colorado Rockies (14-6)
DATE/TIME: Tuesday, April 25 - 8:40 PM EST
WHERE: Coors Field, Denver, Colorado

The Colorado Rockies delivered the opening salvo in a four-game series between the National League's top two teams and look to defeat the visiting Washington Nationals again on Tuesday. Colorado racked up 14 hits while posting an 8-4 victory on Monday that improved its record to 14-6, matching the 2011 club for the second-best start in franchise history.

Washington star Bryce Harper was limited to pinch-hitting duty in the opener after the team arrived in Denver at approximately 4:30 a.m. MT, prompting manager Dusty Baker not to start the right fielder. Harper was named NL Player of the Week after batting .550 with three homers and seven RBIs, and his night out of the lineup occurred as the Nationals had their seven-game winning streak halted. Washington is 6-1 on its 10-game road trip while the Rockies have outscored opponents 34-12 over the first four contests of their seven-game homestand. Charlie Blackmon and Mark Reynolds each hit a two-run shot in the opener to move into a three-way tie for the club home run lead (six) with Nolan Arenado.

TV: 8:40 p.m. ET, MASN2 (Washington), ROOT (Colorado)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Nationals RH Joe Ross (1-0, 3.86 ERA) vs. Rockies RH German Marquez (2016: 1-1, 5.23)

Ross was recalled prior to Wednesday's outing against Atlanta, and he recorded the win by allowing three runs and six hits over seven innings. The 23-year-old went 7-5 with a 3.43 ERA in 19 major-league starts last season and served up just nine homers. Ross, who never has faced the Rockies, is 6-6 with a 3.74 ERA in 19 career road appearances (18 starts).

Marquez will be recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque to fill the rotation spot of Jon Gray, who remains sidelined with a foot injury. The 22-year-old Marquez made the Rockies' season-opening roster but was optioned to the minors before he making an appearance. Marquez, who will be on a 90-pitch limit against the Nationals, went 1-1 with a 5.23 ERA in six appearances (three starts) after being recalled in September.

WALK-OFFS

1. Rockies SS Trevor Story went 2-for-4 on Monday to extend his hitting streak to six games - a stretch that has raised his average 74 points to .188.

2. Washington 1B Ryan Zimmerman homered on Monday and has gone deep four times over his last six games.

3. Colorado 1B Ian Desmond (fractured hand) took batting practice Monday for the first time since the March 12 injury and will continue to do so daily until the club feels he's ready for a rehab stint.

Preview: Padres at Diamondbacks
GAME: San Diego Padres (8-13) at Arizona Diamondbacks (13-8)
DATE/TIME: Tuesday, April 25 - 9:40 PM EST
WHERE: Chase Field, Phoenix, Arizona

The Arizona Diamondbacks are cleaning up at Chase Field and look to improve their National League-best home record to 10-2 when they entertain the San Diego Padres on Tuesday. Arizona held on for a 7-6 victory in the opener of the three-game set on Monday to match the mark for the best 11-game home start in franchise history set in 1999 and tied in 2008.

Chris Owings belted his first career grand slam and David Peralta continued his superb hitting by going 3-for-4 with a homer in Monday's triumph. The red-hot Peralta is 17-for-31 over his last seven games, recording six multi-hit performances during a stretch in which he has increased his average to .329. The Padres have dropped their last three games but are receiving surprising power from Austin Hedges, who went deep in the opener for his sixth blast in his last nine contests. San Diego's Wil Myers belted a three-run homer after hitting only one blast in his previous 12 games.

TV: 9:40 p.m. ET, FSN San Diego, FSN Arizona

PITCHING MATCHUP: Padres LH Clayton Richard (2-2, 3.04 ERA) vs. Diamondbacks LH Patrick Corbin (1-3, 3.27)

Richard beat the Diamondbacks in his last turn, when he gave up one run and nine hits over 6 2/3 innings on Thursday. The 33-year-old recorded a season-high eight strikeouts after fanning just 10 over 20 innings in his first three outings. Richard is 9-3 with a 3.77 ERA in 14 career starts against Arizona but has experienced issues retiring Yasmany Tomas (5-for-10, one homer).

Corbin lost to Richard in his last outing as he gave up three runs and five hits over six innings while striking out a season-high eight. The 27-year-old has lost all three of his starts against National League West teams this season - San Francisco and Los Angeles being the others - and his only win of 2017 occurred when he tossed six scoreless innings against Cleveland. Corbin is 3-5 with a 3.64 ERA in 12 career appearances (seven starts) against San Diego and has struggled against Myers (4-for-8, one homer, two walks).

WALK-OFFS

1. The Diamondbacks have won seven of their last nine home games versus the Padres.

2. Arizona RHP Shelby Miller (elbow) will receive a second opinion on Tuesday in Los Angeles after Monday's MRI exam revealed inflammation and prompted concerns over the possibility of a serious injury.

3. San Diego OF Travis Jankowski (foot) was placed on the 10-day disabled list Monday and will be sidelined indefinitely, according to manager Andy Green, while OF Jabari Blash was recalled from Triple-A El Paso and went 0-for-3.

Preview: Athletics at Angels
GAME: Oakland Athletics (10-9) at Los Angeles Angels (9-12)
DATE/TIME: Tuesday, April 25 - 10:07 PM EST
WHERE: Angel Stadium of Anaheim, Anaheim, California

The Oakland Athletics attempt to shake off an embarrassing loss as they continue their stretch of 15 consecutive divisional contests Tuesday, when they visit the Los Angeles Angels for the opener of a three-game series. Oakland began its string against American League West rivals with three losses before reeling off five straight wins, but its streak was halted Sunday with an 11-1 setback against Seattle.

The Athletics managed only five hits in the defeat but hope to regain the services of Rajai Davis, who posted back-to-back two-hit performances before missing three games with a hamstring injury. Los Angeles earned a split of its four-game set against Toronto by capturing a 2-1 decision on Monday. Mike Trout carries an eight-game hitting streak into Tuesday's series opener after recording his second triple of the year in the triumph over the Blue Jays. The Athletics and Angels are meeting for the second time this month after splitting a season-opening four-game set in Oakland.

TV: 10:07 p.m. ET, NBC Sports California (Oakland), FSN West (Los Angeles)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Athletics RH Jesse Hahn (1-1, 3.00 ERA) vs. Angels RH J.C. Ramirez (2-2, 6.46)

Hahn will be making his third start since replacing Raul Alcantara in the rotation. The 27-year-old native of Connecticut posted a victory over Texas in his last outing, allowing one run and two hits over six innings on Wednesday. Hahn is 1-0 with a 4.86 ERA in three career starts against Los Angeles but has issued eight walks - his highest amount versus any team.

Ramirez has lost both of his starts while filling in for the injured Garrett Richards, surrendering eight runs and 10 hits over 10 1/3 innings. The 28-year-old Nicaraguan made three relief appearances - two against Oakland - before joining the rotation and went 2-0 while allowing three runs over five frames. Ramirez will be making his first career start versus the Athletics after going 2-1 with one save and a 4.76 ERA in nine relief outings against them.

WALK-OFFS

1. The Angels attempted to strengthen their beleaguered bullpen by sending a player to be named or cash to Atlanta for RHP David Hernandez, who made his debut on Monday and retired the only batter he faced while also picking off a baserunner.

2. Oakland acquired OF Ryan LaMarre from Los Angeles for a player to be named or cash and assigned him to Triple-A Nashville.

3. Los Angeles activated Vicente Campos (elbow) from the disabled list and optioned him, along with fellow RHP Daniel Wright, to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Preview: Dodgers at Giants
GAME: Los Angeles Dodgers (9-11) at San Francisco Giants (7-13)
DATE/TIME: Tuesday, April 25 - 10:15 PM EST
WHERE: AT&T Park, San Francisco, California

The Christian Arroyo era has begun for the San Francisco Giants, who are hoping their top hitting prospect can help jump-start their anemic offense. Arroyo forced his way into the lineup with an impressive start in the minors and made his major-league debut Monday at third base for the Giants, who continue their three-game series against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday.

The 21-year-old infielder, who went 0-for-4 in Monday’s 3-1 victory, was hitting .466 with three home runs for Triple-A Sacramento and could provide a spark for a Giants team that entered Monday with a National League-worst 6-13 record. After watching Jarrett Parker and Chris Marrero struggle offensively for the last three weeks, manager Bruce Bochy shook up the lineup Monday by moving Eduardo Nunez from third base to left field and inserting Hunter Pence into the leadoff spot. The Giants also had a new look in center field, where veteran Drew Stubbs made his season debut after utilityman Aaron Hill landed on the disabled list with a right forearm strain. Los Angeles was held to four hits in Monday’s loss as Enrique Hernandez filled in for Joc Pederson, who was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a right groin strain.

TV: 10:15 p.m. ET, SportsNet LA (Los Angeles), NBC Sports Bay Area (San Francisco)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Dodgers LH Clayton Kershaw (3-1, 2.54 ERA) vs. Giants LH Ty Blach (0-0, 4.76)

Kershaw won his second straight decision on Wednesday, allowing two runs with a season-high 10 strikeouts in seven innings against Colorado. The three-time Cy Young Award winner has struck out 32 batters while issuing only two walks over 28 1/3 frames in his first four outings. Brandon Belt has been limited to three hits in 51 at-bats against Kershaw, who is 18-8 with a 1.61 ERA in 36 career games (35 starts) versus San Francisco.

Blach is making his first start of the season in place of ace Madison Bumgarner, who injured his pitching shoulder in a dirt bike accident on Thursday and is expected to miss the next 6-8 weeks. The 26-year-old Blach has allowed three runs over 5 2/3 innings in seven relief appearances this season after making an impressive debut n September. Blach earned his only career win against the Los Angeles Dodgers last season, working eight scoreless frames in a 3-0 victory on Oct. 1.

WALK-OFFS

1. Dodgers LHP Julio Urias is expected to be recalled to start Thursday’s series finale.

2. The Giants have won 17 of their last 21 games against the Dodgers at AT&T Park, including six in a row.

3. The Dodgers recalled OF Brett Eibner from Triple-A Oklahoma City to fill Pederson’s roster spot.
