FYI: Those "overpriced dogs" I referred to in my July 3 comment, well one of the big ones "barked" yesterday. The Padres vs. S.F. (Lincecum) were a outrageous price. Hope you took notice. As brilliant as the linesmakers are, remember, they are human like you. And they make glaring errors every now and then.. They made a big one yesterday. Final Score - San Diego 5 S.F. 3

Don't see the mistake CW... if you're talking about Over Pit 7.5 + $105 5*, that was a win.. score was 13-2.

I've got a question about rule #7. If i start an NFL pre season thread can i close that thread at the end of preseason and then start a new one for reg season , or do i use just 1 thread foe ALL NFL ? thanks

...btw , it doesnt matter to me , i just wanted to know what to title it. I didnt want to title it "pre season" thread if i have to continue to use it for the reg season.

thanks Ty

yup, as it says the season runs from start of pre-season to end of post-season. If you want, title the thread as pre-season and I can change it once the regular season starts. Record will include all plays from now to super bowl. GL.

JOH- Will there be a College Football and/or NFL Regular Season (using the exact same format as baseball that you grade and monitor with records/standings posted) section for threads, permitting members to post picks only, whereby records are kept with standings? I saw the contest sponsored by a sportsbook here, Betonline I think, if you have a account number with them. I am more interested in a College and/or NFL Regular Season Football thread availability, that you (JOH) will grade and monitor exactly like you do in MLB. Thank you, and if I missed it, or did not see the info or answer to my question, I'm sorry. Remember, its my first year here, and I'm simply not familiar with the football do's and don't's re: football. I simply enjoy the MLB set up, and hope the same will be allowed in College and Pro football. I am not interested in any contest sponsered by any sportsbook. I think they are nice, but not "my cup of tea." Please advise, as the college season is near as well as NFL Regular season.

Thank you, Fat Harry

JOH- Even though you perhaps missed my question on 8-12-2011 at 8:42 a.m., re: football, in case you do ever read it, don't bother answering. I just saw, when I checked the MLB Capper standings, you are indeed keeping the NFL Pre Season Records, and I assume Regular Season as well as College Football. While I do not handicap exhibition football, I will now be posting my regular season selections in both NFL and NCAA Football. Thank you for keeping the records and I look forward to posting both my NFL Regular Season and College Football selections in the appropriate threads. Again, thank you for all you do, for making The RX.com the #1 site in the industry.

Sorry Harry... I did miss your original post yesterday. As you surmised, the answer is yes I will track both NFL and College Football. Just start separate threads for each sport and I will handle the rest.

JOH- Pleaae advise, as I assume and hope its your call. If I thought for one second, that the thread I started, entitled NFL PRESEASON SELECTIONS, were going to be "lumped" in with regular season games in the NFL Standings, I'd have never made a single selection, in NFL Preseason. I made those few selections as a favor to several posters who asked me to. Anyone who follows the NFL knows its virtually impossible to beat Preseason, as opposed to Regular Season. So, please advise, as your decision will go a long way in my decision as to my participating in the NFL REGULAR SEASON STANDINGS.
Thank you. Fat Harry

JOH- Please disregard answering my question below re: "lumping Pre Season NFL with Regular Season (Post NFL) in the standings weekly. Well, my bad for not asking you sooner and being misinformed, and just not making Preseason NFL Selections. There is no decision for me now, I WILL NOT be participating in the NFL Regular Season Selections Posting w/standings. Well, at least I have the College Football Selections w/Standings to look forward to. As always, thanks for all you do, to "keep this ship floating."

Was just about to respond Harry. The same question was asked in this thread a week and a half ago (post 267) and answered in the next post. I can also refer you to #7 in the Rules thread. It's your decision to continue or not. Whether you want to view these standings as a contest is your option. Unfortunately, there is no reward for winning other than the virtual $$ contribution. Always welcome no matter what.

Coldweather- My apologies for not thanking you sooner, for your post herein, dated, July 12, 2011. Not only was I a tad unsure what one could or could not comment on within this particular section of the Tracker Forum, and while I'm limited to what areas I can comment in, since I saw your July 12 post, I figured I could at least respond, but due to a recent corneal transplant, in May of 2011, my vision tends to sometimes be "off." Until all suitures are removed, my vision tends to "change", until the donar's cornea takes its final position. Making no excuses, however, it is what it is. I'm sure the vision will improve as the remaining suitures are removed. So again, thank you for the kind reply re: my MLB "work."

On a unrelated topic, you may or may not remember when I first engaged discussing the L.S.U./ Oregon game. I said, "I can't wait to wager on L.S.U. and would lay up to 9 1/2 points, and see just exactly what kind of price/odds I could get. That was before Jefferson got suspended, which of course, in the end, I knew was a true "blessing" not only to me, as the line went up on Oregon, but also created a great position for me, when "throwing my 9 1/2 points bait in the water", hoping to catch a big fish. Well, I caught lots of fish, and the dividends were unreal. I tried to share my knowledge and reasoning about my feelings regarding this game and the very strong position I took, with many posters here at The RX.com. I hope my efforts did not fall on deaf ears. I know many good cappers here disagreed immensely, and I respected that. However, for those who had no opinion, and those who were caught in the middle, I only hope they considered my remarks and my laying up to 9 1/2 to get a very nice price, not just some dream, but a well thought out move, backed up by info, both inside and statistical, as well as 35 years of handicapping experience, and followed me. Afterall, isn't that what its all about? Helping others?

In closing, my only concern was Jefferson's inability to "manage" a football game, in lieu of resorting to reasonable options when a play goes bad, such as looking for secondary receivers as opposed to just running because of his God given skill and ability. In the alternative, I felt more comfortable with the less talented Lee at QB, as he unlike Jefferson, will listen to his coaches and make every effort to "run the offense" instead of showing his individual skills. No QB is worth 4 1/2 ponts, particularly when I made "my line", as I do on every game, at L.S.U. - 2 1/2. Good luck to you and the entire RX family of posters this season. What a great way to start the season! The great thing about this forum (The RX.com) is that every word I said regarding this game can be found in the threads. And it was posted when it was news, not history! Again, thank you and GL to all!
