Another nice post from Blue. Most Christians think like you, from my experience. Unfortunately for the rest of us, they aren't the majority among those with political motives.

the big problem is guys like benny hinn, pat robertson, jimmy swaggart. they get all the press and make us all look bad.

No, but they used to. You'll have to forgive the Muslims, they're a little behind.

I've heard of "white guilt" but I don't think "Christian guilt" is in vogue yet.

Relgion surely controls the masses.

If money is the root to all evil why are churches always begging for it ? :lolBIG:

I'm an athiest, and found the list semi amusing.

However, too me it really is a caricature of Christians and not representive of the Christians I know.

To compare Christians to Muslims is a joke, change a few of the key words and post this on a Muslim board and I'd think the author would be hunted down like a dog.

without a doubt, the most often misquoted scripture of all-time.

money is not the root of all evil. the love of money is the root of all evil.

why do churches need money? well, the reputable ones need it for things like a mortgage pmt on the church building, the electric bill, the gas bill, to support missionaries in foreign countries, to support local outreach events like habitat for humanity and food shelters...they need it to have events for youth to keep them off the streets.

unreputable organizations clearly have misused funds in the past...and i'm sure it will happen again.

Youre kidding right? Im not recalling the Christian wacked out rightfielders chopping folks heads off lately.Or...you know, walking into a temple and blowing themselves up.Perhaps if youre talking about this in historical sense you may have a point but I dont think you are.

Mindframes intolerant of folks who dont follow ones adopted creed is a sad fact of life. While the Christian right even at its most extreme may be belligerent it pales in comparison to what occurs at the far end of the Muslim spectrum.

Fundamentlist Christians IMO are cut from the cloth of a run of the mill Muslim.

i beleive d2bets is quoting from the aclu handbook...chapter 3, i think.

Actually, it's spot on. As a non-believer, I have several friends who are also non-believers. All of us know more about the Bible than the "Christians" we know.

I've read the Bible cover to cover three times. In fact, it was my first reading that started me down the path on non-belief.

you've read the Bible THREE WHOLE TIMES and claim to know it??????
anybody else see the problem with this statement???????
:icon_conf so, if I read the Illiad twice, am I an expert in Greek literature?

Three times is more than the Majority of Christians...actually 1 time is more than the Majority of Christians.

if i thought that either activity were effecting my faith or my relationships, i would quit.

what'd you think of the rest of my post, ktv?

So you don't let drinking or gambling ever affect your relationships? Never hid a call from a book or tout from the wife?

Many times the topic of Christianity brings you back into the forum here - which I like. You often bring up helping others, helping folks overseas etc. I'm by no means an expert, but the fact that this is a recurring theme from you leads me to believe that (take into account I'm not a Christian so this is just a judgement call) you are as close to a true Christian as exists in here. You admit your faults/sins, but you also heed the teachings of Jesus with concern for those less fortunate than you.

This threads are funny because they turn into a "wah wah, everyone is persecuting Christians" whine. Maybe if Christians try harder they can get a president elected or one or two Christians on the Supreme Court. :toast:

I do apologise. Got stuck at youtube.com tonight and found a couple of gems. Last one, I promise.

In the spirit of neutered liberals persecuting Christians, I give you this:

Which was precisely my point. And that is consistent with my experience. All my non-believing friends know more about the Bible than many of the Christians I know. Being in Oklahoma, I'm surrounded by Thumpers. I can count on one hand the number of Christians that I have met that actually "walk the walk" in my entire life.

And you lose credibility by having faith in a cult that defies all mathematical sensibilities.
