Man, how stupid is that statement? HAHAHAHAHAHA

Actually, it's spot on. As a non-believer, I have several friends who are also non-believers. All of us know more about the Bible than the "Christians" we know.

I've read the Bible cover to cover three times. In fact, it was my first reading that started me down the path on non-belief.

The bible is the written word of God, yet these intellectual atheists deny the existence of God and the agnostics believe there is no evidence of God.

Nice circular argument you have there.

I'm starting to understand you now. You think that by not judging others that you won't be judged. You gotta start dealing with your guilt KTV.

Same chapter, verse 3 would be more fitting to your need to analyze others, and chastize anyone who isn't lock and step with your Dogma. :howdy:

Besides most of us like tossing a few bucks on games of chance, with a fifth of sour mash in one hand, cigar in the other, and a hooker on top!

Nope. Christian fundamentalist and muslim fundamentalists basically cut from the same cloth.

Youre kidding right? Im not recalling the Christian wacked out rightfielders chopping folks heads off lately.Or...you know, walking into a temple and blowing themselves up.Perhaps if youre talking about this in historical sense you may have a point but I dont think you are.

Mindframes intolerant of folks who dont follow ones adopted creed is a sad fact of life. While the Christian right even at its most extreme may be belligerent it pales in comparison to what occurs at the far end of the Muslim spectrum.

Fundamentlist Christians IMO are cut from the cloth of a run of the mill Muslim.

Well I'll be Gol damn, that is impressive!! Must have taken you days to do that. Must have been frustrating for you reading for the third time though and thus you threw your arms up in disgust and claimed we all stemmed from a bowl of jello.
Maybe the fourth read will be the charm.:smoking:

Either youre chosen or youre not

2 Thess. 2:13, "But we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth.

Ah...moral equivelancy. Get a clue. Christians aren't advocating the killing of infidels who don't believe in what Christians believe in.

Not moral equivalency. They are cut from the same cloth in terms of how they view those who don't subscribe to their view. However, they are simply situated in different circumstances so they necessarily take different tactics. But like I said, I believe they are basically cut from the same cloth with parallel ideologies just different methods of response due to different situations they find themselves in. Both are scary in their own way. One is outright and directly scary;l the other is more stealthy scary.

No, but they used to. You'll have to forgive the Muslims, they're a little behind.

We have to all find our own answers. Rigidity of thought is what bothers me about organized religion.

10 - You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours.

9 - You feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt.

8 - You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God.

7 - Your face turns purple when you hear of the "atrocities" attributed to Allah, but you don't even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in "Exodus" and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in "Joshua" including women, children, and trees!

6 - You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky.

5 - You are willing to spend your life looking for little loopholes in the scientifically established age of Earth (few billion years), but you find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded by Bronze Age tribesmen sitting in their tents and guessing that Earth is a few generations old.

4 - You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs -- though excluding those in all rival sects - will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering. And yet consider your religion the most "tolerant" and "loving."

3 - While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to convince you otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in "tongues" may be all the evidence you need to "prove" Christianity.

2 - You define 0.01% as a "high success rate" when it comes to answered prayers. You consider that to be evidence that prayer works. And you think that the remaining 99.99% FAILURE was simply the will of God.

1 - You actually know a lot less than many atheists and agnostics do about the Bible, Christianity, and church history - but still call yourself a Christian.

sadly, there is a lot of truth to the last reason you list. while i acknowledge that a lot a bad things have been done in the name of religion, including christianity, i feel you left a few things off your list:

- you genuinely care about the plight of poor people in the usa and around the world. this is evidenced by giving to charities that support aids orphans and other people in desperate need all over the globe.

- you try to model Christ in your daily life. you dont always succeed but, the fact that you make an effort makes you a better neighbor and has a generally positive impact on those around you.

- you are far less likely to engage in the activities which are contributing to the moral decay of this country such as drug use, viewing of pornography, spousal/child abuse, unchecked promescuity, etc.

- you understand that even though many people make fun of you, call you un-enlightened or un-educated because of your faith in Christ...that you are called to turn the other cheek and to hold no record of wrongs. you understand that everyone matters to God, regardless of their beliefs. you try to have honest, thoughtful, respectful conversations with non-believers and when they disagree you keep your head. even when they insult and attempt to degrade...you dont repay evil for evil. you are called to a higher standard because you bear the name of Christ.

there are people within christianity who are opposed to gambling. some also oppose drinking alcohol. i do not see it that way. abuse of either would cleary be wrong but, since gambling and drinking alcohol are not prohibited in scripture, i chose to engage and to use my judgement. so far, it has not been a problem for me. if i thought that either activity were effecting my faith or my relationships, i would quit.

what'd you think of the rest of my post, ktv?

Another nice post from Blue. Most Christians think like you, from my experience. Unfortunately for the rest of us, they aren't the majority among those with political motives.
