I oppose it

1) minimum wage jobs are not intended to be jobs for people to support their families. They're mostly occupied by kids and maybe some needy adults. It will hurt those people most because there will be fewer jobs for them. Happens every time

2) the companies that pay minimum wages will have to increase prices, and it's the lower income families that frequent those establishments more than others do so that demographic gets bitch slapped again.

3) the increase benefits labor union workers more, although it's never ever told to us. Many, maybe most, union workers get automatic pay increases when minimum wages increase, which is really what certain politicians want to do, concealed kickbacks to union leaders who give their unequivocal support

4) will make other american companies less competitive in international markets than they already are as a result of number 3

5) it's sold to us as compassionate, which is complete bullshit, it's just politicians be politicians and being enabled to do so by their enablers who always have their backs. It's nothing about helping the poor and it's not about compassion. It's all about political favors and perception.

Well stated.

Politically motivated information coming to us is either slanted to mislead or a downright lie more than ever in history.

Or, consumers are more ignorant than ever to believe this crap that is spewed out.

Actually probably both statements are true.

I dont see how fast food workers get by in places like Chicago. I was there for 48 hours a month or so ago and spent $100 for parking. I would absolutely hate to live in that place. Huge city with cold temps. Why? No thanks. I live in a medium sized city; never pay for something like parking. Not only did I have to pay to park but it was like $20 a pop plus then you throw in some cab rides. It is just ridiculous. Oh and then you have the tolls. Good Lord.

maybe you should have spent more than 48 hours here....

there are good and bad parts to every town/city. I have been here for 16 years and I love it. I don't own a car because I don't have to. I have access to amazing concerts, sporting events, festivals, restaurants, parties, golf....

The winter sucks from December until March. other than that you gets seasons like everyone else.

No thanks Danny. The Democratic Republic of Illinois is just not for me. I live in Indy and good chance I get the same concerts, sporting events (colts), festivals all summer long and just don't have to mess with the congestion of it all and the "others" that pollute it. Tolls should be illegal.

if you have a minimum wage that doesn't rise with inflation or expenses, then it only stands to reason there would be a maximum wage cap that follows the same rules. put the shoe on the other foot. that is the only fair way to do it.

actually, I think if one opposes such regulations , then one opposes such regulations

if one supports such regulations, then one would want to increase minimum wages and cap high income wages. So I think both positions go hand in hand

I believe every has the right to pursue happiness, and I think our federal government is already way out of control

I want it all to stop

OJ Simpson's friend Kato Kaitlin(?) said in an interview that $200/hr would be a good minimum wage. Ask the people with their signs, protesting for $15, "Why only $15?". See if they grasp the concept.

I love people who have no problem spending other people's money (i.e. they support raising minimum wage).

I usually visit once a year in the early fall. Always have a blast. Not sure if I could live anywhere without a car, but staying on a mini vacation it has never been a problem. Great town....imo

Feugo, I stand corrected. All "are" business owners. Interesting fact though, 20% of all millionaires are college drop outs

I think you mean 20% do not have college degrees. And then how much of that 20% inherited wealth and did not get a degree?

And then of the 20% who didnt go to college - how many of those are extremely smart people who were going to succeed no matter what and went on to form their business rather than college

And then of all people who drop out of college - how many are millionaires? I wonder what that % is
