Explain to me why Oregon and Mississippi St. right now are both 15/2 to win it all.

I'm not an SEC fan boy or PAC hater, but isn't this question rather obvious? The odds don't just reflect the perceived strength of a team. Mississippi State would still have to play at Alabama, at Mississippi, Georgia in Atlanta and two playoff games to be crowned champion.

Oregon's road is no cakewalk home to Stanford, at Utah and a neutral site game with whoever wins the South, plus two playoff games. However, I would suspect most would consider the former a more difficult path to reach the title.

And oh by the way, on a neutral field, Oregon would be favored against Mississippi or Mississippi St.

Maybe so, but you saw what the SEC teams did to them in the national title game, on more than one occasion, lol.

In all honesty, I enjoy watching PAC football. It's very different from the game played down here, so it's always good to see something different. Watching Oregon, AZ State, Wazzou, Cal, UCLA, etc. can be entertaining.

My opinion is that the PAC is the second best conference out there. Are they the SEC? No. But they are a deep conference. There are no really easy outs in that conference. Most teams can score enough to beat you on a given night.

Here's where I think the difference is. Physicality. The SEC just beats you up week in and week out. Even when you play a bottom half of the conference team(Arkansas, Kentucky, TN, FL this year), you get beat up physically by in some cases big OL(Arkansas) and in others by physical defenses(FL). Ole Miss is in the middle of a 5 game stretch that includes Bama, TAMU, TN, LSU, and Auburn). The physical toll a stretch like that takes on you is just brutal.

Again, I enjoy watching Oregon play. Mariota is a freak athlete, and just a hell of a QB. But I think if Oregon were in the SEC, the physicality of an 8 game SEC schedule would be tough on them. Not that they couldn't get through it, but there smallish OL would find blocking SEC defensive lines difficult.

Very well put, and I do enjoy watching Pac 12 games.....they usually are very entertaining.

Oregon-Auburn came down to the final play....pretty even game that could have gone either way.. Probably played them tougher then any other SEC team did that year so what's you're point ?

In large part because Oregon is perceived to have an easier remaining schedule. How do you explain 5 of the 8 teams with odds less than 10 to 1 are SEC?

Since this is a sports betting site, simply use it to your advantage if you think the PAC12 teams are undervalued. Fade the SEC teams if you feel they are overvalued.

The whole conference vs conference thing is fueled in large part by the media IMO. Every conference has some good teams but it is hard to argue against the strength of the SEC the last 10 years or so. It won't last forever though.

They are all good teams. There is no great team in the SEC...or college football for that matter. Are there more good teams in the SEC? Sure. You have to have them all similar in odds. 4 of them are from the same division. You can't overvalue the 1 team that gets out of the west.

I agree it's media inspired rhetoric. The public buys in without much thought though. It's impossible to really evaluate head to head unless they play heads-up. You can't say, "if Oregon played in the SEC" and keep the parameters of that team. It's as illogical as digging up the state and moving it to the gulf. The SEC cream has been much thicker the last 8 years. But it doesn't necessary mean the whey holding up things at the bottom is any better.

I don't see the difference in this result and Bama by 1 pt at Arkansas.... Just sayin....

You think Colorado is comparable to Arkansas?? That's crazy! Arkansas would be a 20+ pt fave against Colorado.

You guys are just wasting energy as this discussion is pointless. What does it have to do with who is going to cover the spread?

Because bama is better than UCLA and Arkansas is better than Colorado. Bama would be a 35+ favorite against Colorado. You're out of your mind. The PAC-12 is simply not that good this year.

You need to stop spinning and go away... Best team in the country beats a team that hasn't won a conference game in over 2 years by 1pt and all you have is hate. beat it

What am I spinning? Just telling the truth. Comparing bama/ark and UCLA/col spreads as reason why they're similar. That's nuts. Colorado is a very bad football team.

I don't know why you are leaving out their good teams. The teams you listed could all beat the best PAC-12 teams this year. That's how bad the PAC-12 is this year.
