NFL refs are ridiculous. NFL rules are ridiculous. Could barely watch the Ravens game yesterday... must have been 25 flags with maybe 20 enforced. Painful to watch regardless of final outcome.

they're not supposed to blow the whistle in those spots anymore, the ref blew it, he didn't do his job. The mistake was not what he saw or didn't see, the mistake was simply blowing the whistle.

I've seen plays where both knees hit, the butt hits, the helmet hits, the ball carrier rolls over and then the ball comes out. The refs let them play on. After completion of the play, they announce the ruling on the field is the runner was down. then if they got it wrong it could reversed be and the TD is allowed.

He can't follow simple instructions

I also saw two mysterious offensive PI's called on players no where near the play, AND PI didn't happen anyways. Yet on scores of pick plays you see every week, it's never called. I don't get it, I really don't.

Yep. It's become a joke. Impossible to handicap these games because of it. You can have the right side and one call takes the money from you. The game is forever ruined and if I couldn't bet it....I wouldn't ever watch it.

Maybe they should up the pay for refs and only hire from MIT or something.

Not only the ref blowing the whistle but the Stafford fumble was a bad call too.

Last week had the most flags in the history of the game. Forget what broadcast was showing the stats, but I'm sure the league won't be happy they did. Enjoy.

There are more injuries than ever too because all the players are genetic mutants now.

So you have the combination of all the flags and all the injuries and all the commercials, can be tough to just sit down and watch a single Primetime game by itself.

Take those 3 factors and then add society's attention span getting shorter and shorter and pretty soon these leagues are going to be begging congress to make sports betting legal.

I read an article before about supplements being a big cause as well. Our muscles weren't mean to be this strong or large and our tendons, ligaments, bones, etc arent equipped to carry those giant muscles. An example they used was putting a race car engine on golf cart. The frame wasnt meant for it and sooner than later it will break down. I will see if I can find it. It was a good article. I am not an anatomy expert but I thought it was interesting.

Yeah I've read a little bit on the subject of the increase in injuries among athletes. It is up at the amateur levels as well.

NBA is starting to do a lot of research on it. They want to have players wear medical devices under the uniforms during games so they can monitor and analyze every aspect of their bodies.

Here is an article on it

As far as football. Everyone is just bigger, stronger and faster than ever. These guys train their bodies 12 months a year to inflict maximum punishment over a 5-6 second burst, yet the skeletal frame isn't getting any bigger on a modern human.

Laron Landry on the Colts got busted for PEDs and if you google image him, he looks like some type of mutant HGH experiment. Like a different species. And this guy is a average run supporting safety.

First: The genetics of contemporary football players are not that much different from the genetics of previous generations of football players

Second: Any of the "supplements" that would have enough of an effect to cause something like this are banned by the NFL. The real issue is how much can we trust the leagues drug testing policy?
