This is our Secretary of State.

Secretary of State John Kerry said in Vienna on Friday that air conditioners and refrigerators are as big of a threat to life as the threat of terrorism posed by groups like the Islamic State.

I’m so proud of him. Aren’t you?

Instead of blowing up the power lines where Islamic State rules to make sure A/C and refrigerators can't run there. Dumb POS.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Obama administration will soon expand efforts to help Central American families and children legally immigrate to the United States amid another surge of migrants caught crossing the border illegally.

White House Deputy Homeland Security Adviser Amy Pope said Tuesday that the administration will expand in-country refugee processing for families coming from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala and launch an effort to temporarily relocate some families facing the greatest threats to Costa Rica.

Outstanding!

PHILADELPHIA — A new Clinton administration would pursue a bill to legalize illegal immigrants in “the first 100 days” of her tenure, vice presidential candidate Tim Kaine told Spanish-language network Telemundo in an interview Monday, presenting a deep contrast with Republicans.

Good luck with that.

Guessers hero?

PHILADELPHIA – The Democrats continue to have an Israel problem.

On the sidelines of the Democratic National Convention here, Georgia Democratic Rep. Hank Johnson reportedly compared Israeli settlers – meaning Jews living in the West Bank or eastern Jerusalem – to termites.

Classy guy!

Pavian Economics? Or the new GOP platform?

(CNN)Donald Trump said Tuesday that he would support raising the federal minimum wage to $10 an hour, a departure from his previous assertion that wages are "too high."

The Republican presidential nominee was pressed to provide a specific number by Fox News host Bill O'Reilly, who said "there has to be a federal minimum wage."
Trump initially dismissed that.
"There doesn't have to be," Trump said. "I would leave it and raise it somewhat. You need to help people. I know it's not very Republican to say."
"Ten bucks?" O'Reilly asked.
"I would say 10. I would say 10," Trump agreed. "But with the understanding that somebody like me is going to bring back jobs. I don't want people to be in that $10 category for very long. But the thing is, Bill, let the states make the deal."

Granny’s got a gun.

Police say robbery suspects in Jefferson County, Missouri jumped out a window and fled the scene after a 77-year-old woman pulled a shotgun on them.

According to KMOV, the 77-year-old woman heard a noise and went to investigate, but she did not go empty handed. Rather, she a carried a shotgun which she shouldered and pointed at the two suspects when she discovered them in a bedroom. The suspects scampered to reach the same window they used for an entrance then jumped out of the house.

Police responding to the incident said the two suspects “are lucky to be alive.”

Here’s a good one.

IRS Commissioner John Koskinen referred congressional charges of corrupt Clinton Foundation “pay-to-play” activities to his tax agency’s exempt operations office for investigation.

Yeah, I think he sees all the unrest at the DNC with the Bernie/Hillary fracturing and figures throw the BernieBros a bone. Now would be the time to do that.

His list of supreme court nominees and choosing Pence as his VP are encouraging signs.

Remember this?

‘Anybody who says we are not absolutely better off today than we were just seven years ago, they’re not leveling with you. They’re not telling the truth,” Obama said last week. “By almost every economic measure, we are significantly better off.”

Well almost.

The U.S. homeownership rate fell to the lowest in more than 50 years as rising prices put buying out of reach for many renters.

The share of Americans who own their homes was 62.9 percent in the second quarter, the lowest since 1965, according to a Census Bureau report Thursday. It was the second straight quarterly decrease, down from 63.5 percent in the previous three months.

Tough for the federal government to do too much about housing supply problems. It is mostly a state and local issue related to NIMBYism and zoning.

All the subsidies to buy a home, lending regulations and artificially low interest rates definitely help exacerbate the problems though.
