HOUSTON, Texas — #PrayforHouston was trending on Twitter on Saturday after Houston police officers had to shoot an armed black man who pointed a gun at them. Alva Braziel died at the scene in Houston around 12:30 Saturday morning after officers fired what was reported as numerous shots at the man.
Fox 26 in Houston reported that police officers repeatedly asked Braziel to put down his weapon, but Braziel raised the gun to the sky, then he pointed his weapon at the officers. He was standing in the middle of the road in Sunnyside, a predominately black neighborhood in Houston.

“I want to start moving on constructive actions that are actually going to make a difference,” he said during his evening press conference in Poland when he was asked about the Dallas attack.
Obama began touting the panel’s recommendations in March 2015. The report, titled “President’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing Report,” was published in May 2015.

JANESVILLE, WI– A poll of likely Republican voters shows House Speaker Paul Ryan well below 50 percent in his race to maintain his seat in Wisconsin’s first Congressional district.
The poll was conducted by P.M.I., with 424 respondents randomly called from a file of 11,000 likely GOP primary voters. It shows that with one month remaining before Wisconsin’s August 9th vote, Ryan is polling at 43 percent.
Ryan’s challenger, Wisconsin businessman Paul Nehlen, is polling at 32 percent.
The Nehlen campaign notes that Ryan’s 43 percent “represents a drop of more than 30 points since the Nehlen campaign began polling likely Republican primary voters earlier in the year.”

Hillary Clinton is pledging to follow through on progressive health care policies in a new campaign document.
The document mostly rehashes Clinton's previous proposals, including extending Medicare as an option to Americans 55 years and older, allowing undocumented immigrants to purchase coverage from Obamacare exchanges, and efforts to fight high out-of-pocket health care costs.
Wow! That must have taken about 10 minutes to come up with.
Lets see, Medicare is about broke so lets reduce the age to 55 and make sure it goes broke. Lets allow undocumented immigrants to purchase coverage from Obamacare exchanges, yeah, like they’re going to buy something they can get for free. And then there are the ambiguous efforts to fight high out-of-pocket health care costs.

Rep. Corrine Brown (D-FL) has been indicted by a federal grand jury on a series of charges in connection with a fraudulent charity, reports reveal.
The 69-year-old Democrat was indicted on charges of conspiracy, wire fraud, filing false tax returns, and other charges, according to the AP.
Brown is currently looking to be re-elected to maintain her thirteen-year career as congresswoman for Florida’s 5th — and previously 3rd — congressional district.
The indictment comes after a federal grand jury was called to review the One Door for Education Foundation Inc., which claimed to take donations to send underprivileged students to college but instead allegedly funneled the cash into the pockets of Rep. Brown and her associates.
