I am the Florida Destroyers.

Are we going to bring all of these rule suggestions to a vote once we get the 12?

Hi all. I am in for the league. Looking forward to it.

i will play regardless of settings but hate kickers and defense. I would prefer those eliminated. I am cool with 0.5ppr and an additional flex. Are we talking a $100 waiver budget in the real (contribute that money to the pot) and the virtual (budget could be exhausted on 1 100 virtual waiver claim)?

Great. Just waiting on nbacapper and 1 more spot.

I don’t like kicker/defense - some do - keeping
.5 ppr
can vote on extra flex

as for $100 “real money” budget - I don’t care. I will spend it all anyways to win. So just increases pot. If others want to have it as an extra we can vote. I don’t have a string opinion. Just more payouts to coordinate after the fact

So you're saying kickers and defense isn't changing without a vote?

I don't even like the free agent $ pool to begin with. It's nothing about strategy like some argue, it's all about who's going to spend more money than they should to get somebody. Maybe real cash might change that a tad, or at least make there be some real consequences for blowing your load.

Take away kickers and defenses, the game becomes totally unrecognizable to me. It's like 3 on 3 half court basketball instead of 5 on 5 full court. It's like arena football vs the NFL. I'm a traditionalist, but I don't want to stand in your way for having fun and I won't mind stepping aside. Trust me, no problems whatsoever. I'm a tad too busy for everything anyhow, won't mind if I chill more.

Cy - saying we tried to change last year. Few people were adamantly against.
can put to a vote - but then what? If it has to be unanimous it won’t pass
if we do like an 80% majority someone might drop out if not in their favor.
that worth it to then find new people ?

Keeping it as is is fine too. Rather have you stay in the league. But for discussion purposes why do you like Kickers and Defenses?

You mention no strategy in waiver claims but I see 0 strategy in K and virtually 0 in Defense (as Def TD is 99.9% random) hence they are picked in the last 2 rounds i.e. no one cares as ranking 1-10 really tight (with a usual outlier that is random).

Defenses and kickers can and do carry teams to victories. Just like any position, and fantasy will always be about timing and matchups

Since defenses and kickers have been around since the inception, I'm going to argue they are an integral part of the game

Furthermore, eliminating them brings about other questions. Do you reduce roster sizes? Otherwise players to pickup diminishes significantly.

I've been a commissioner of one fantasy football league since advent of computerized fantasy leagues. We've not changed one rule in over 20 years, we still don't even have a flex. 8 of the 12 teams are still original teams. Two original members passed, two I replaced. We just don't have any turnover. Everybody knows they have to pick two keepers by the week before opening day and the draft is Tuesday, two days before opening day, at 8:15 PM EST. That's how I do things. Old school, easy peasy

This league is seemingly changing every year, and I absolutely hate the free agent process but tolerate it. Like I've said, I have no desire to hold you guys back, I really don't. Replace me and you guys can go full bore contemporary league, I won't be offended

We have really only had the one change last year I think willie.

also curious - why do you hate faab? You like old school waiver order ? - no biggie. Just curious.
I don’t disagree. I am in year 18 in one league - we always look at changing to auction or superflex etc. - but usually just like to keep status quo for the sake of it

Plan is:
kicker and defense stays
.5 ppr - I don’t mind bc gives some players value

if anyone else has strong feelings about a rule - post it.

Once we get nba and a replacement we can get rolling.

The old fashion waiver process is orderly. The waiver process starts in the opposite order of the draft, benefiting people with the worst draft picks. Then if you make a waiver pickup, you drop to the bottom. There's a strategy has to when you want to utilize a high waiver pick, you may not want to waste it.

FAAB, that's what you called it, is about who's willing to bust their budget to acquire a free agent. It's not about market value of the player, it's just about who's the craziest and overspends the most. I think it just let's everyone retain hope they can land the best free agents until they're busted. I see zero strategy in the process.

At least real money would make there be some consequence for overpaying, but then you need to chase money after the season is over

Ya. Makes sense. I get strategy in saving waiver priority if you get it.
I just know a lot think there is more strategy in faab. Spend it all on that one guy and then don’t get priority for anyone rest of year and get outbid or save your $ for later. Either way. Just different.

Anyone know someone for last spot? ???
