The word "NIGGA"

Well I know there is a difference between "Nigga" and the other way of saying it. But we are talking about "NIGGA" if you don't know the difference get out of this thread...

The word "nigga" is so commonly used now by just about every nationally. I'd say just about everyone I know under the age of 30 uses the word somewhat frequently.

But I still know some people who won't say the word in front of blacks, fearing they would get offended somehow or angered by it,which is understandable of course but we live in a different world now the majority of blacks won't be offended by someone saying "NIGGA" anymore right? Or am I wrong?

All the blacks I know call me "Nigga" all the time.

I'd like to know how many people on here admit using the word in their daily conversations.

Nah not at all sir. If I haven't been offended in the time in the 3 plus years I've been on this site then nothing will. I just think the topic has been a little played out personally thats why I put the picture in there (beating of the dead horse, get it?)

But to answer your question, its basically a word IMO no one should use. Yeah I know blacks use it but damn, you have what basically is over 400,000 words in the English language and people still have to cleave to one word??

I'm black. I don't use it and yet a small minority of my friends/associates use it but thats all on them.

I have to disagree with the thesis of blacks being offended of the use of the word. In fact if you would like to come here to the DC Metro area and ride the green line or better yet to South East you can be free to use your 1st Amendment rights all you like and see what happens to you. LOL!

Now in the small chance that I do come to the annual bash, I do ask that you refrain from using that word to address me, thank you and in return I will return the same respect to you.

Guess it's different in the east coast. My white friend Josh says the word "nigga" all the time around blacks, around anyone really it's like the most used word in his vocabulary, and not once did a black person ever say or do anything to him..

the word is used very frequently to lessen the sting of it

my black friends say they call each other nigga because the more you make the word sacred and think it is a disgusting word and hold it in high regard, the more the word means.

by saying it all the time, and commonly referring to each other as nigga, it lessens the sting of the word.

like if i say fuck you might be offended. but if i say fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck, you become immune to it

still, i dont use the word, because im white. black people went through a lot of shit from white peoples ancestors, and they should be able to do whatever the fuck they want to with the word...

The word itself is very powerful in different ways, one of them is it can instantly ruin the career of a publicly known person. Should any politicians, celibrities, sports announcers, writers, or anyone else in the public eye use the word publically that is it for them. Imagine if say Mike Ditka said to Michael Irvin on the air of a NFL pre game show "my nigga, what up", how long do you thing he would be employed at any network after making the statement. Hell it could probably get me fired if I used the word maliciously and I am only a forum moderator.


I agree with the majority, just don't use the word along with several other uncool racial insults one hears from time to time.

Whenever I get to the basketball court - I always say, "what's nigga's" - the blacks and cubans laugh because they know I am making fun of the way they talk - this has to be the most common word among riff raff - I would never say "what's up niggas" in front of people I did not know - I am convinced that "nigga" is the most common used word for minorities - they like to say, "where you at nigga", "get big nigga", "big up nigga" - I'm 35 and can barely understand what these kids are talking about.
