how often do you take a withdrawal from poker stars ?

any weird looks from the bank tellers ?

do you claim " professional poker player " on your tax return ?

are you worried about being audited ?

as of now, I won't be taking a withdrawal unless I get over 25k in stars since I can't move money as easily now and I have friends who may need money at times too so I can move it to them if I have a lot. used to I would remove after a big score.

nah, I do my banking at a small local bank.

The funniest thing with that happened the other day, I withdrew 25k cash and went into my mortgage officer's office to talk to him about my mortgage, the teller comes in and says "Matt, I forgot to take that out of an account, which account would you like it to come out of of?"

She didnt even look up that I had 25k before she gave it to me lol.

Yep Professional Poker Player

No, not worried about audits, all my finances are in order, be a huge waste of govt time if they come after me, cuz the paperwork they are going to have to go through and all my files is going to be one huge bitch.

no limit hold em theory and practice is supposed to be good. I didn't like it that much though but think a beginning player would get a ton of it

for limit, for sure Small Stakes Hol em by Ed Miller... very good book

I busted quickly today in the $340 :(

over 90% online in terms of hours played for sure. I would prefer to play against live competition online LOL. Live players are for the most part terrible compared to their online counterparts.

For example an online 20/40 game is going to 10x more difficult than a live 20/40 game which will play like a 2/4 online game.

Live tourneys are so weak, like laughable weak in many cases. In the last tourney I played where I got 2nd, when the field was down to 18, I would say maybe 1 other player knew proper tourney strategy for how big the blinds were.

What is proper tourney Strategy when the blinds are big?

just saw this. if you have 10 bb or less, you should be moving all in or folding. You should never call or just make a standard raise. with stacks between 10-13 bb sometimes you should just go all in as well, but thats table dependent and player dependent. If the blinds are big compared to everyone's stacks, you should be looking to steal the blinds as much as possible. Moving in when you have postion on the buton and small blind when folded to you.

Hello Matt or anyone out there:

I've being playing poker for almost two years, at first, I only play NL, but in the last year or so, I only play Limit hold'em.

The problems that I'm always having is that at first, I would always win a lot of money, and I would win and win for 15 straight days, however, there will be one point in time that I will lose all my bankroll soon or later, I just have a feeling that it's coming soon or later, and this has happen to me many many times before, it's just like the following cycle:

WIN WIN WIN WIN LOSE WIN WIN LOSE..WIN WIN WIN...

And then LOSE and boom the next day, I would lose them all.

Part of the reason is that I can't handle the fact that I'm losing for the day, so I would go chase, and move on to higher limit hoping to make it back in the same day, well, and you know what happen, the combination of bad plays, bad lucks, unfocus, tilt has costing me to go busto.

Please help me out, I wonder how I can become a consistent winner, I want to build my bankroll and move up to the next level as my BR grow, I do not want to wasting all my times, and then in a day or two, and go busto, and lose all my winnings and deposits.

I also wanted to add that I still have about $1500 to play Limit hold'em with, what limit do you guys suggest to play? How can I beat the rake in the long run in order to win? and How can I avoid losing my bankroll in a day or two?

for $1500, probably 2-4 limit at the most, 1-2 to be safe. Just play within your limits and you won't lose your bankroll in a day. If you lose, move down, until you start winning.

I don't play cash no limit that much so I would be pretty outclassed on high stakes poker. Highest cash game I've played is 100-200 limit, up over 20k lifetime in that game, havent really played it much, but when I have usually been up against a weak lineup at the Bellagio.

I finished 905th or so last year at the main event, which is the only time I've played. There were over 8900 players and they paid 880 players. I came into day 3 150th of 1150, so it sucked pretty hard to bubble the biggest tourney of the year after 28 hours playing.

Were you mentally tired after playing 3 days of intense poker at the WSOP ? I know after playing 8-9 hrs myself Im tired.

You looking to win a satellite to this years event ? or not bother and just buy in ?

eh wasn't too bad, cuz it was spaced out becuse of all the players, I played day 1a, so then had to wait like 4 days to play day 2, then after that day I had an off day til day 3. I'll be playing sats like the 200s on Full Tilt and teh 33r on Stars, not really trying to sat in per se, just going to be playing those tourneys, cuz I can make money in them. If I don't win a seat, I'll buy in, probably sell 50% of myself or so. Going out next month to Bellagio for Five Star Classic and staying a couple of weeks and will be doing the same thing there, I want to play more live events and trying to do so within my bankroll.

Does that happen alot, players selling 50% of themselves in these tournaments I see on TV ?

I heard some mention about it on one episode of High Stakes Poker, where Eli asked Jennifer if she was playing with here money or not.

most people swap percentages with other players, for example I swap 10% with another player online in every tourney we play. He buys 5% of me in live events and I buy 5% of him in live events, if we are in the same live event, then of course we revert back to the 10% swap. Some people are fully backed, ie they get buyins paid for and they get 30-60% of the profits depending on the deal. What I'll be doing is giving myself up at face value or just strait swapping if I can find enough people to trade pieces with out there, that way it reduces variance a tad bit.

There must be some players that get backed 100% and they keep 30-40 percent of any winnings. I can't imagine these sameplayers I see playing High Stakes, or $5000-$10,000 buy-in tournys every other week paying there full way all the time. You miss out on the money a few to many times and you could go broke fast.

Especially now that so many on-line players have come out and started having success in live games.

Have you ever played with Paul Wasicka or Brian Townsend ??? What do you think of them as players. They sure could hold there own on last weeks episode. They don't have the same "Big Mouth" or "Flash" as the Farhas or Matusows .. but these young guys can play with the big boys.
