football revenue was 3.3M last year, expenses were nearly 17M ... even with "saving" this 14M loss the athletic dept is expecting a 25M loss. easier to blame covid than the failings of the AD, school, and lack of success of their programs. and they know the media will run with "uconn cancels football due to virus" and overlook the financials behind this

I don't think they could keep their schedule together, it's as simple as that IMO

After the BIG 10 and Maine cancelled on them, they were down to 8 games

Two of their remaining games are against ACC opponents who are probably going to cancel, leaving them with six games

UMASS
ODU
Liberty
Army
San Jose
Middle TN

assuming none of those 6 cancel

They lost 2 Big 10 games
2 ACC games
and Maine

Then why not say that directly?

PR?
Insurance?
Recruiting?
Season ticket holders?

They're doing a juggling act, I'm sure

I guess.

I've worked in this arena for years Willie and transparency matters. If UCONN can't keep the schedule together, there's no harm in just saying that directly. Everyone would understand.

Due they get some insurance reimbursement if it's pandemic related but none because they decided to pull the plug? IDK

I'm certain they don't want to tell recruits they can't schedule teams to play them

I'm certain they don't want to tell recruits they can't schedule teams to play them

1) They want a BRUTAL road schedule so they can get paid. They want a weak home schedule so they dont have to pay out so much
2) I wonder when the season ticket holders will be asked "instead of refunding your season ticket $$, PLEASE use these monies as a DONATION to the school"?

Not one positive COVID test. Is this real life?

Has X-Files infiltrated the football program at UCONN? I mean, I realize UCONN's team has been canceled for years now but this is official.

UCONN was 2-10 last year and has no conference this year and no one would attend their games or watch them on TV.

They tell you they're shutting down because of the Coronavirus, but really they're shutting down because they're pathetic, inept, and complete losers and now just have an excuse to run and hide.

You see the same kind of people preaching shut downs in real life.

Here's the funniest thing about this whole mess.

18-22 year olds... it's almost guaranteed that these players will have a GREATER chance to get the Coronavirus by not having a season than having one. They'll be going to multiple parties a week with no supervision rather than quarantined and playing football with staff looking out for them.

Enfuego makes his decisions to do what is best for Enfuego. UConn makes a decision that is best for UConn. So what's the problem?

Uconn yes.

Do you really think hanging out on a forum on all getting laughed at is best for Enflameo?

Maybe I don’t know. But you would think he could do something better with this time. I’m starting to think maybe he is handicapped/disabled

If UCONN was 11-1 last year and had a conference lined up for 2020-2021, they wouldn't be canceling their season.

The idea UCONN should be applauded for quitting because they're shitty and then blaming it on Covid19 is embarrassing. But par for the course for you. Keep praising George Floyd as a martyr you stupid bastard.

But the socialists at therxforum told us it is worth spending this $14 million on public education, because "it's for the kids".

Sports are non essential. Why take the risk? How many players & coaches are at higher risk of health problems from an infection? Obese? Old? Diabetes? Smokers? etc

The RX Doom and Gloomers will applaud this action despite less than 0.001% of anyone under the age of 65 dying from COVID.

I don't applaud or condemn the decision.

Death isn't the only concern. Neither are healthy players the only ones to think about. There are also parents, grandparents etc.

You have a better chance of dying from a shark attack than you do dying of COVID.

Since i never go swimming, i have essentially a 0% chance of dying of a shark attack. And as an over 60 year old - many - thousands, if not billions of times, greater chance of dying of C-19.

As a matter of fact, I saw Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Goebert play in an NBA game recently after they recovered from COVID.

Whoopie. Those who've recovered from C-19 are probably at less risk from it than those who've never had it.

Yet, this thing is deadly?

Over 155K dead in a mere 6 months with lockdowns and/or extreme ways of safety in effect just in that teensie little part of earth called USA.

Here comes the drooling retard that forgets that these people who are now no longer playing football for UCONN and coaching football for UCONN still live in the same country, and some will have free time to take actions that actually make it more likely that they contract this virus than if they had had a season.

But he's a drooling retard for a reason folks.

And if you're 55 or less and get this, you are so unlikely to die that it is not worth taking outrageous precautions. The math supports this.
