There are no trap lines. The more "educated" a person/gambler thinks they are, the more they start top blieve in trap lines.
A true 'trap' line would be described as one that no matter what happens in a game, the line was a trap.
Like this Superbowl line. If NE wins by 6, then everyone that bet NE will think it was a trap because they didn't cover. And everyone betting the Eagels will be the "UI told you so bunch" "too many points" the usual stuff.
Same difference if NE wins by 30, people that Bet the Eagles will be the ones who think it was a trap, offering that TD with a good team like that was "too many points" (same definition, totally different meaning) and they got sucked in because it looked so good.
Trap lines by my defintition would be the lines that do exactly what the books used to want...splitting the action down the middle. Or at least enticing people to be 'scared' by the number and lay off. Thus they serve a couple things they either split the action or keep people off the game altogether.
As long as enough of those so called trap lines got eh way that a majority think the trap was supposed to swing these discussions will go on forever, and the books will continue to bury people. The sooner people think for themselves and forget about the line, or let the line influence their bet,the sooner people might start winning a little bit.
