SAN DIEGO -- Cox Arena has been reopened in San Diego.
Police had evacuated Cox Arena in San Diego after the discovery of a suspicious canister, forcing the delay of Thursday's first NCAA Tournament game there, Marquette-Alabama of the Oakland Regional, scheduled to start at 2:40 p.m. ET.
Two bomb-sniffing dogs detected the package inside a condiment container near a vendor cart outside the arena. A bomb robot was sent to the scene, FBI spokeswoman Jan Caldwell said.
Team buses are being held at their hotels, pending the arena being reopened. An NCAA official said games would not start until at least 90 minutes after that.
