The Baltimore Orioles rolled into Seattle winners of 7 of their last 8 when they lost the opener of this 3-game set as the Mariners Luis Castillo was just too good.
On Saturday both pitchers, the O's Cole Irvin and Mariners George Kirby were fantastic. Irvin 5 shutout innings and Kirby 9 but the O's won in extra's 1-0.
Today another great pitching match with Kyle Bradish going against Bryce Miller.
Let's start with Bradish.
In his 20 starts this year he has given up 3 earned runs or less in 17 of them. That is how good this kid has been this year.
However, you dig a little deeper and you will find that over his last 9 starts he has given up 2 earned runs or less in 8 of those 9.
That is how consistent he has been this entire year.
The Mariners counter with Bryce Miller.
Miller was called up midseason and had early success but it seems now good teams are catching up with this young man.
Look at 2 of his last 3 starts.
At Minnesota, the Twins destroyed him for 6 runs on 8 hits in 5 2/3 innings. Back home on August 1st the Red Sox destroyed him for 6 runs on 7 hits in 5 2/3 innings.
Yes, he went into LA and beat the Angels in his last start allowing a run on 5 hits in 5 innings but we will never confuse LA with Baltimore from an offensive side.
This is the 3rd righty the O's will have seen and of the 3, you can see Miller is the most hittable and I believe the O's get their offense on track.
