Spygate 2007: it's not what people think it was, but what difference does it make

The Patriots were disciplined for videotaping their September 9, 2007 regular-season game against the New York Jets from the wrong location. The Patriots filmed from an unapproved sideline location instead of from an approved indoor location, much like the Jets got away with (unpunished) a year earlier in Foxborough.
According to the 2007 NFL Game Operations Manual, legal game videotaping locations "must be enclosed on all sides with a roof overhead."

Just pointing out that the site is an opinion, that quite possibly shows biased based on when it was made AND where its originating from.

Just an OPINION website, while everyone has a right to an opinion.... this one is quite possibly biased.

it's fair to argue that the grading is subjective, could be done differently by different people

then again, that's the argument the Pats are using with framegate

I would suggest at least it gives us some raw numbers, maybe help some people to keep things in perspective

as for the date, there's usually a reaction to some action, that's what makes the world go around (and Patriot fans are tired of unbalanced and misleading hate mongering, so we're giving it back)

Your retort is a classic ad hominem. Why don't you debate the actual contents of the site, and not the date it was created, or where the site is located?

So you would have no problems with, say, a website that pops up tomorrow, out of Pittsburgh, with the Patriots at the top, and the Steelers in the middle as average?

Like I said, the website is more than likely biased, and they are giving scores on what they feel each instance deserves. Just an "OPINION" website. But, imo, it would have more credibility if was from anywhere else but the north east part of the United States... much less Massachusetts.

So the offenses and punishments from the league contained in that website are opinions and not facts?
I can see how you could challenge the "cheat score" the website comes up with, but how so on all the documented fines/suspensions?

Just saying that its all opinions and scores are based on opinions. Nothing factual about the "scores they assign" and who "They believe" are bigger/smaller cheaters than the Patriots. That website isn't based on an actual "Points system", just opinions, by what probably are, Patriots fans.

Just opinions.... nothing more.

All I'm asking your to do is to point to just one instance on the site where you think they rating a cheating incident unfairly compared to the other teams, until you do that
your response holds very little, if any weight. At least the site is backing up their opinion with substance, and a lot of it.

And I think you're missing the point a little. Zit and Willie are just pointing out that most NFL teams break the rules. But on this forum only the Patriots do.

Obviously this whole thing is getting more absurd by the hour.. However:

it is comical that virtually nobody in the national media has ever mentioned cap gate with the broncos and elway. Like not screwing with the salary cap to keep elway and terrel davis and a few other pro bowl players on a Super Bowl winning roster somehow isn't a big deal!? C'mon! And look what they were fined and docked!

Patriots tape a guy who's in plain sight for everyone from a banned location and everything's tainted.. Denver wins 2 Super Bowls with an illegal roster and most nfl fans don't even know it happened. Fun how this works.

How many Pats/ Brady threads are there going to be? You guys act like a 4 game suspension is the end of the world. Worst case you go 2-2.

If you keep it up, I will start a thread about Peyton and Luck.

And the thread will close the first week of January, just like they do. Lol

Im a fan of football, and yes I have my favorite team (Vikings), but all teams cheat in some way, shape or form to gain some sort of an advantage.

While there will be no "Patriot Hate" from my end, its just that they are in the spotlight at the moment. And the natural reaction from fans and such, is to deflect when they feel their team (or themselves) are threatened.

Just the way human nature is....

all teams try to gain an advantage but lets not simply discount the fact the Pats are basically the only team people equate with cheating. Outside of Massachusetts anyways. All the threads in the world showing other teams getting fined etc won't change a thing.

In case you haven't noticed....this is what zit always does. Tries to back up his stupid positions with equally stupid opinion pieces and then tries to pass them off as fact. Just another day with that clown doing the same shit. Amazing that he never gets embarrassed by it.

sorry, hate when that happens

but the haters deserve this and 20 more such threads on page 1

if it wasn't for my respect for other board members and the mod squad, I'd go doc mercer on them :)

I mean, some of the stuff is so bad, there are a couple of guys I'll never think the same of them again. They've proven they just don't have "it"

although most aren't in that category, and I can appreciate the good nature ribbing administered by many. But pure unadulterated ignorant hate is rather boring

It seems y'all need to keep chanting the "everyone hates us" mantra. "They hate us cause they ain't us". "The world is full of haters".

If you need to keep playing the "us against the world" card to rally the troops or whatever, that's pretty lame. I mean the real fact of the matter is the Pats are a top 3 or certainly 5 team as far as fan base by volume. So why do y'all insist on saying over and over and over and over and over and over again that everyone hates you? Maybe it's cause you won't STFU about how much everyone hates you.

We get it. You won the Super Bowl. Again. Congrats. I'm glad, I made a lot of money off that game.

We also get that you disagree with the Brady suspension. How bout just letting it play out?

The "haters" that I see are typically hating on the fan base. Probably because of lame ass sayings like "they hate us cause they ain't us". Or maybe it's a complete inability to reason.

Vikings got 8 points for 7 infractions of PEDGATE .... yet Patriots only get 4 points for 4 infractions?

That sucks
