[ Remember how nice Muslims that treat women with such respect, savagely beat and raped Lara Logan in public, in Cairo in 2011 ]

The savage and animal raping of Lara Logan that the media continues to ignore

"At least six men raped her vaginally, and a number of men raped her anally..."
As reported by UPI on Nov. 26, 2013, CBS has disciplined reporter Lara Logan for her recent "60 Minutes" segment of the 2012 terrorist assault on the US Consulate in Benghazi, Libya. Many Americans have forgotten that Logan was the same reporter for CBS who was horrifically gang raped and viciously degraded/tortured while covering the Arab Spring celebrations in Cairo's Tahrir Square in 2011.
Not only the American media, but the Western press by and large has given short shrift to the mentality that drives the Islamist, pro-sharia law mind in the Muslim World.
Penned by Dawn Perlmutter, author of the UCLA published scholarly article "The Semiotics of Honor Killing & Ritual Murder" notes that in the minds of Islamists males, "symbolically, shame dwells not only in the eyes but also the genitals."
"According to the Islamist code honor is signified by stereotypical male characteristics such as courage, bravery, heroism, power, virility, and strength; dishonor is signified by stereotypical female characteristics such as weakness, vulnerability, helplessness, and submissiveness.
Honor is what defines Islamists as men and psychologically is experienced as dignity and pride; conversely dishonor is indicated by female traits of weakness experienced as humiliation and shame. Islamists are in a constant struggle with fear of disgrace and maintaining manhood..."
Further evidenced of the ingrained Sharia-mentality in Egypt, even in the wake of the media-ordained Arab Spring and the alleged "moderates" of the Muslim Brotherhood who took control of the North African nation.

As Perlmutter notes the barbaric attack on the South African born Logan as she covered the breaking news in Tahrir Square in February of 2011:
"On February 11, 2011, when Egyptians were celebrating the resignation of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, the blonde haired blue eyed TV journalist Lara Logan who was reporting for CBS News was not wearing a headscarf.
Being uncovered it was obvious that she was not an Egyptian Muslim woman, hence she was an open target. Logan was beaten and gang raped by a crowd of three hundred men who were screaming "Jew! Jew!" and "American bitch!" although she is neither Jewish nor American.
While Western media seemed to be squeamish about reporting the facts, particularly since they did not fit in with their peaceful narrative of the secular pro-democracy demonstrators.YouTube and some Arab websites reported that at least six men raped her vaginally, and a number of men raped her anally.
She was also masturbated and urinated on.There were reports that her left breast was bitten and that the entire left nipple was bitten off.One account claims that somewhere from six to fifty men might have sexually assaulted or beat the reporter."

[h=1]ISIS destroys ‘Jonah’s tomb’ in Mosul[/h]
344392b2-81b7-496a-99ea-aca3d8554b25_16x9_600x338.JPG

The radical Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) group has destroyed shrines belonging to two prophets, highly revered by both Christians and Muslims, in the northern city of Mosul, al-Sumaria News reported Thursday.
“ISIS militants have destroyed the Prophet Younis (Jonah) shrine east of Mosul city after they seized control of the mosque completely,” a security source, who kept his identity anonymous, told the Iraq-based al-Sumaria News.
“The militants closed all of the mosque doors and prevented worshipers from entering to pray,” the source said.
A witness who did not wish to give his name said that ISIS militants “first stopped people from praying in it, they fixed explosive charges around and inside it and then blew it up in front of a large gathering of people,” according to Agence France-Presse.
An endowment official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, and Mosul residents told AFP it took the Sunni extremists an hour to rig the shrine with explosives.
The endowment official said the Islamic State jihadist group that overran large swathes of northern and western Iraq last month have now destroyed or damaged 30 shrines, as well as 15 husseiniyas and mosques in and around Mosul.
“But the worst destruction was of Nabi Yunus, which has been turned to dust,” he said, according to AFP.
In the Quran and the Bible, Prophet Jonah is famous for being swallowed by a fish. Dating back to the 8th century BC, Jonah is believed to be buried in Mosul and his tomb also a mosque is considered to be one of the few historic mosques found on the eastern side of the city.
Meanwhile, a local Mosul official, Zuhair al-Chalabi, told al-Sumaria News on Thursday that Prophet Daniel’s tomb was also destroyed. While Daniel is considered to be a prophet by Muslims, he is not mentioned in the Quran.
[h=4]Tomb destruction[/h]“ISIS implanted explosives around Prophet Daniel’s tomb in Mosul and blasted it, leading to its destruction,” he told Al-Sumaria News.
”Mosul is living in an extremely hard and horrible situation,” Chalabi warned.
Another source told al-Sumaria News that ISIS militants destroyed another shrine belonging to Imam Abu al-Ila in Mosul after implanting explosives in the circumference of the place. The source also said that a mosque in Mosul’s al-Faisaliya district was bombed in addition to a Shiite mosque, or Hussainiya called Fatima al-Zahra was also destroyed.
“Unidentified militants bombed Abu al-Ila tomb located in central Bab al-Jadeed area south of Mousl,” Iraq Press Agency quoted witnesses as saying Thursday, leaving “residential homes around the tomb severely damaged.”
On Wednesday, a security source told al-Sumaria News that ISIS has demolished tomb of another revered Imam Yahya Abu al-Qassem.
Early July, ISIS made headlines when its militants demolished ancient shrines and mosques in and around Mosul.
At least four shrines of Sunni Arab or Sufi figures have been demolished, while six Hussainiyas have also been destroyed.

[h=1]You’re playing for England, Moeen Ali, not your religion[/h][h=2]Before he went out to bat, Moeen Ali claimed he was representing his Muslim faith[/h]

England cricketer Moeen Ali said he wore his beard as a label Photo: GETTY

National identity is not always easy to define. The artist Wassily Kandinsky, for instance, was born in Russia, lived in Germany, and died in France. At various times he was a citizen of each of those countries, though posterity will judge him to be a German painter. Igor Stravinsky, also born in Russia, lived in France and America, and was buried at his request in Venice.

Or how about a man who is still with us? Daniel Barenboim was born in Buenos Aires to parents who were Russian Jews. Taken to Israel as a young boy, the pianist‑conductor has spent his adult years living in London, Paris and Berlin. An Israeli by choice, who has been granted honorary Palestinian citizenship, he will support Argentina at the World Cup. “I have multiple identities,” he told me some years ago in Chicago (another of his homes), “but my football loyalty will never change.”

Some things, he was saying, are in the blood. When it comes to sport, they have to be in the blood, otherwise what are you playing the game for, and for whom? That question arose at 1.55pm on Thursday whenMoeen Ali, born in Birmingham 27 years ago to a Pakistani family, walked out to bat for England on a sunlit day at Lord’s.

It was a proud moment for Ali, a batsman who plays his county cricket for Worcestershire. As is customary at Lord’s, which boasts the most fair-minded audience in the whole of sport, he was accompanied to the crease by applause, and clapped again when he was out for 48 well-made runs. The fact that he is a Muslim was neither here nor there.

For Ali, however, it clearly matters a great deal. Before the Test he spoke of “representing the Muslim faith”, and of wearing his beard as “a label” and also as a “uniform” in the way that schoolchildren wore theirs. Oh dear. We are drifting into dangerous waters. It is better for all concerned to push the vessel back gently towards shore.

First, a beard can never be a uniform. Schoolchildren wear uniforms because it is a way of showing that, whether they are rich or poor, black or white, left or right, or inside-out, they all enjoy equality in the classroom. A man who belongs to a team and draws attention to his beard as a symbol of his faith is opting to stand out.

Next, membership of a national team can only ever represent one thing, and that is the country in whose name you take the field. It is restrictive, because you have to belong to that country, but as the England cricket team has in recent years been represented by players born in Ireland, South Africa, Zimbabwe, India, Pakistan, and all parts of the Caribbean where English is spoken, it is not that restrictive.

It never was. One of the greatest England batsmen of the so-called Golden Age, Ranji, was an Indian prince. Since then, the team has been captained by people born in Scotland, Wales, India, Italy, Peru and South Africa. One of the finest post-war captains, Nasser Hussain, was born a Muslim in Madras, as it was then called. And nobody was more aware than he of the responsibilities that came with being the captain of England.

For Hussain saw himself primarily as an Englishman who happened to be a Muslim. On account of this, he was subjected to occasional abuse from people who felt he had gone native. It took a good deal of courage to ride that storm but he showed the mockers they had picked the wrong man. Not many sportsmen are important figures in the world beyond their discipline. Hussain was.

The England team that is playing at Lord’s features, besides Ali, an Australian in Sam Robson, a Zimbabwean in Gary Ballance and a Bajan in Chris Jordan, with Ben Stokes, who was born in New Zealand, ready to return later this summer. Besides Muslims, Hindus and Sikhs have found acceptance within the England dressing‑room as well as players from other backgrounds. You can’t say that of either rugby or football.
If you want to know how people can rub along together, then take a look at English cricket. It’s not perfect. Many cricket-lovers have argued that too many “foreign” players come here as a matter of expedience, and the careers of Kevin Pietersen and Jonathan Trott, both South African-born, suggest they have a case. On the whole, though, English cricket is stronger for the players who have come here, from Ranji to Basil D’Oliveira, the Cape Coloured, who was denied a career in apartheid South Africa, to young Jordan. It shows what a tolerant country we are.

But there is one thing all players must acknowledge: if you are chosen to represent your country, that is who you represent. You may be a Hindu, a Sikh, a Muslim, a Buddhist, a Jain or (chance’d be a fine thing) a Christian but that is not why you have been chosen. If Moeen Ali does not understand this matter, then perhaps Peter Moores, the England coach, can have a quiet word in his shell-like. And if Moores does not understand, he should not be the coach.
Long before he became Bishop of Liverpool, David Sheppard played 22 Tests for England as a batsman, one of the finest of his day. Not once did he invoke the name of the Lord before he took guard. He relied on his gifts to define him as a cricketer, and to represent him as a man. So should Master Ali.

[h=1]Top England cricketer Moeen Ali faces probe after wearing 'Free Palestine' and 'Save Gaza' wristbands 'that may breach dress code' as he bats against India[/h]
  • All-rounder Ali wore black and white wristbands while batting earlier today
  • The 27-year-old helped raise money for victims of Gaza in Birmingham
Cricketer Moeen Ali is being investigated for improper conduct after wearing ‘Save Gaza’ and 'Free Palestine' wristbands as he batted for England in a Test Match against India.
The 27-year-old all-rounder from Birmingham wore the wrist bands while at the crease today - allegedly against International Cricket Council (ICC) rules.
The ICC last night confirmed they were investigating the incident.

[h=1]The pre-nuptial agreement that can end a happy marriage[/h]
_76582720_top-image.jpg

In the Arab world, when a man gets married he makes a payment to his bride's family. However in parts of Yemen when a brother and sister from one family marry a brother and sister from another, dowries are often not paid - but this can have tragic consequences.
A young man approaches a friend to ask for his sister's hand in marriage - in exchange for his own sister's hand. This is "swap" marriage or "shegar" as it is known in Arabic, an ancient marriage custom still practised in Yemen.
The way it works is: "I'll marry your sister, if you marry mine."
But the other side of the bargain is: "If you divorce my sister, I'll divorce yours."
Swap marriage came about as a way to help poorer families avoid paying dowries, and that is still a big attraction to some families in Yemen today. A dowry can come to about $3,500 - even though most people earn less than $2 a day.

When there is no money to pay for the dowry and other wedding expenses, that's when "people marry shegar" says Mohamed Hamoud, a village elder in Sawan, not far from the capital Sanaa.
But the survival of swap marriage also owes something to the fact that Yemen is a deeply proud and conservative country whose strict adherence to ancient traditions and values have kept the fabric of society unchanged.
"Our traditions are too important to us," Hamoud says.
He acknowledges, though, that the practice is in decline, for one simple reason: "It causes too much misery."

That's because couples forced first to love can sometimes then be forced to divorce.
Nadia, a young woman in her late 20s, married a man whose sister married her brother. It was a happy marriage and she had three children - before her brother's marriage broke down, and she and her husband were torn apart.
"Swap marriage is the worst kind of marriage, it's better to spend all your life alone than to marry this way," she cries.
Her children were taken away from her, including her youngest, who was then seven months old.
"I begged them to return my daughter to me, I told them, 'It's not right, she needs me to breastfeed her.' I asked them, 'What have I done wrong?'"
She had done nothing wrong. For her in-laws it was simply a tit-for-tat response. What happened to their daughter had to happen to her.
_76581053_child-sawan.jpg

Nadia considered resorting to the law to get her children back, as the law does side with mothers in these cases, but she decided against it. In practice, tribal and social customs tend to overrule the law of the state.
She did not see her daughter again for three years. "When I saw her for the first time after all those years I thought to myself, 'She won't recognise me.' I imagined her saying: 'You are not my mother how could you be my mother when I haven't seen you since I was a few months old?'" she says.
Many religious scholars oppose swap marriage and have declared it un-Islamic on the grounds that the dowry is an essential part of the Muslim marriage contract.
"The dowry payment is meant to provide women with some financial security as they leave their home," Yemeni sheikh Mohamed Mamoun explains.

But in some cases swap marriages occur even when families do pay a dowry. In fact, whenever two families exchange daughters, the couples' fates will most likely be sealed together.
Brother and sister Waleed and Nora married their cousins in shegar, but both families paid dowry and agreed not to make the two marriages dependent on each other.
The swap in this instance was meant to ease the mounting pressure on parents to find suitors for their daughters. In a country where more than a quarter of females are married off before the age of 15, a girl's family starts to worry if their daughter is not asked for by her mid-teens. It was also a case of following the examples set by previous generations, as Waleed and Nora's parents had happily married their own cousins in shegar.
Neither sibling wanted this marriage and yet they did little to try and stop it.
"We're not the type of children who could say 'No' to their father," says Waleed.
They decided to surrender to what they saw as their destiny and give the marriages a chance. But it wasn't long before Waleed's relationship started to face problems.
After nine months, and against his family's wishes, he decided to divorce his wife.
_76581054_woman-door.jpg

Waleed's in-laws, overcome with grief and anger, then decided to return his sister to her parents in retribution, ignoring the original agreement that the marriages would not depend on one another. And also ignoring the fact that Nora had turned out to be happy with her husband.
"Of course I felt guilty about my sister, she had to live away from her husband," Waleed says. But he insists he couldn't bear his unhappy marriage any more.
The dilemma of whether to choose your own happiness over your sibling's is just one of many complications couples face when entering this kind of marriage.
Fortunately, through the intervention of family and friends, Nora was reunited with her husband, but not all those who "swap marry" are as lucky.
Nadia is a case in point, and her pain and heartache will be familiar to many Yemeni men and women.

'Women should not laugh in public,' says Turkey's Deputy Prime Minister in morality speech

Bulent-Arinc.jpg

Bülent Arınç condemned 'moral regression' and consumerism

Women should not laugh in public in Turkey, the Deputy Prime Minister has said in a speech on “moral corruption” in the country.

Bülent Arınç used a meeting for Eid al-Fitr on Monday to condemn perceived moral regression, consumerism and even excessive mobile phone use.
He called for chastity in both men and women and blamed television and the media for turning teenagers into “sex addicts”, the Hürriyet Daily News reported.
“[The man] will not be a womaniser. He will be bound to his wife. He will love his children. [The woman] will know what is haram and not haram. She will not laugh in public. She will not be inviting in her attitudes and will protect her chasteness,” Mr Arınç saidaccording to the paper.
He called for Turkish people to rediscover the Koran and stop moral regression.
“Where are our girls, who slightly blush, lower their heads and turn their eyes away when we look at their face, becoming the symbol of chastity?” he said.
Among his other complaints was people having too many cars and using too much petrol, and women talking about “unnecessary” topics on the phone instead of meeting face-to-face.
28-Erdogan-Reuters.jpg
The Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has spoken out against abortionEkmeleddin İhsanoğlu, who is running against the Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in August’s presidential elections, took to Twitter to argue against Mr Arınç‘s statement.
Turkey needed women to laugh, he said, and the country needs to hear laughter more than anything.
Mr Arınç is a member of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP).
Its social values have led to it being described as Islamist but members have rejected the label, saying it is a conservative democratic group.
Turkey has historically been more progressive with women’s rights than neighbouring countries but recent changes and continuing problems with wage gaps, child brides, honour killings and domestic violence have prompted concerns by activists that the country is slipping backwards.
Although abortion is legal up to 10 weeks, the Prime Minister has spoken out against terminations and floated plans to restrict the law.
Turkey also came under international criticism for attempts to block Twitter and YouTube earlier this year.
There have been waves of anti-government protests in Taksim Square in Istanbul and a teenage boy died earlier this year after being hit in the head with a tear gas canister fired by riot police.

[h=1]Libyan Islamists overrun Benghazi special forces base as chaos deepens[/h]
098a13201c1f6214bf010a545ff486484080455163-1406657329-53d7e331-620x348.jpg

Militant fighters overran a Libyan special forces base in the eastern city of Benghazi today after a battle involving rockets and warplanes that killed at least 30 people.
A special forces officer said they had to abandon their main camp in the southeast of Benghazi after coming under sustained attack from a coalition of Islamist fighters and former rebel militias in the city.
"We have withdrawn from the army base after heavy shelling," Saiqa Special Forces officer Fadel Al-Hassi told Reuters.
A separate special forces spokesman confirmed the militants had taken over the camp after the troops pulled out. Part of the area is Camp 36 in the Bu Attni district and the special forces school.
Intense fighting in Benghazi, Libya's second city, and battles between rival militias in the capital Tripoli have pushed the nation deeper into chaos after two weeks of the fiercest violence since the civil war which ousted Muammar Gaddafi in 2011.
Benghazi has been at the centre of fighting between special forces and ex-rebel fighters of the Benghazi Shura Council who have joined up with the Ansar al Sharia, a militant Islamist group, residents said.
Ansar al Sharia, classified as a terrorist organisation by Washington, has been blamed by authorities for attacking the U.S. consulate in Benghazi in 2012 when the U.S. ambassador was killed.
Special forces and some regular air force units had recently joined forces with a renegade former army general, Khalifa Haftar, who had launched a self-declared campaign to clear the city of Islamist militants.

Muslims outraged, demand apology for Scottish terrier dogs appearing in the Scottish Commonwealth Games opening ceremony - See more at: http://pamelageller.com/2014/07/mus...s-opening-ceremony.html/#sthash.Y8KlUxvk.dpuf

Muslims demand that we submit to their repugnant laws and like it.
Millions of Muslims come to Western countries with a ready-made model of society and government, and establish parallel societies based on Islamic law — parallel sharia police, parallel sharia governments with parallel sharia laws.
The Scots have been very accommodating to Islamic demands. Mirroring the dhimmitude of British authorities, the Scots have feared that the break-up of Muslim sex trafficking gangs of infidel girls would “increase community tensions.” So don’t be surprised if they apologize for the Scottish terriers.
The more accommodating you are, the bigger the demands.

Use of Scottish terrier dogs during Commonwealth Games opening ceremony ‘shameful’ and ‘offensive’, Malaysian politicians claim

By Lim Ling Fong, Kuala Lumpur
Malaysian politicians and religious leaders have attacked the use of Scottie dogs during the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony, claiming it was disrespectful to Muslims.

Around 40 Scottie dogs were used in the opening ceremony in Glasgow last Wednesday to lead teams around Celtic Park.

The dogs, which all wore tartan dog coats with the name of each team on them, were widely praised on social media, with many people stating they thought they had “stolen the show”. Hamish, who led out the Scotland team, received one of the biggest cheers of the night.

Judy Murray tweeted after the ceremony: “Scottie dogs in tartan coats at CG opening ceremony. Barkingly brilliant.”

However, not everyone was as impressed. Political and religious leaders in Malaysia have claimed the use of dogs connected to Muslim countries was “disrespectful”.
Many Muslims refuse to have direct contact with dogs, which are considered by some to be “unclean” in Islamic culture. Some overseas Muslim groups have reportedly previously called for a jihad on dogs.

Possibly making matters worse was the fact that Jock, who was supposed to lead out the Malaysian team, sat down and refused to move as soon as his coat was put on, meaning he had to be carried by the team representative.
Mohamad Sabu, the deputy president of the opposition Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party said: “Malaysia and all Islamic countries deserve and apology from the organiser.
“This is just so disrespectful to Malaysia and Muslims – especially as it happened during Ramadan. Muslims are not allowed to touch dogs, so the organiser should have been more aware and sensitive on this issue.
“It is hoped this incident can teach other Western countries to be more respectful in the future.”
Dato Ibrahim Bin Ali, a far-Right politician, former MP and founder and president of Malay supremacist group Perkasa also called for an apology.
“I think it is unbecoming. The hosts have not been sensitive enough – especially in a so-called knowledgeable and civilised society like Britain,” he said. “It is shameful and has offended not only Malaysia as a Muslim country, but Muslims around the world.”

A Glasgow 2014 spokesman said: “Glasgow 2014 have received no complaints from the Commonwealth Games Associations of the competing nations and territories following the Opening Ceremony.”

"Free Palestine" is doublespeak for "Kill the Jews" and most rational thinking people know it. If this cocksucker wasn't good with a mallet he'd probably be holding a box cutter. Fuck him and his twisted morality.

[h=1]Vue cinema apologises after friends 'are turned away by security guard because they were not a Muslim family celebrating Eid'[/h]
  • Leon Jennings visited Birmingham's Star City complex with two friends
  • Claims security guard said film showings at Vue were only for Muslims
  • Allegedly told his group that they 'did not look like they celebrated Eid'
  • Venue based in Aston area of city, where 87% residents are non-white
  • Vue is investigating and 'sincerely apologises for inconvenience caused'
  • Star City management claim 'there is no truth in the recent allegationsA sales consultant was allegedly turned away from a busy cinema yesterday because he was not a Muslim celebrating Eid.Leon Jennings had been visiting Birmingham’s Star City entertainment complex with two friends.
But as the 22-year-old tried to enter the Vue cinema based on the site, which includes dozens or bars and restaurants, he said he was turned away by a security guard.
After asking them why, Mr Jennings claimed he was told by staff that film showings were only for couples and families celebrating the end of the Muslim festival.
Mr Jennings and his three friends were allegedly forced to turn around and go home unable to watch a film at the complex, because ‘they did not look like they celebrated Eid’.
Today he said he was left feeling embarrassed by the incident and felt discriminated against for being white.
The revelation has caused outrage as other visitors reported similar experiences across the venue, which is based in the Aston area of the city, where 87 per cent of residents are from an ethnic group other than white.
Mr Jennings, a viewing consultant at a photography studio, from Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, said: ‘I was going there with my pals to the cinema as it’s Orange Wednesdays, so you get two for one.
‘As we drove in the bloke on the gate said to use “not tonight guys, it’s couples and families only”. We thought he was just joking and went and parked up.

Location: The group been visiting Birmingham's Star City entertainment complex to watch a film yesterday

‘We tried to get into the cinema and the security guy stopped us from going in. He said we couldn’t go in because it was only couples and families celebrating Eid.
‘I tried to point out that there were loads of group of lads who were Asian being allowed in but that made no difference.
‘Thinking back we should have fought our ground more but at the time we were just shocked at what had happened. He said to us we didn’t look like we were celebrating Eid.
‘He was making assumptions about my religion and banning me based on my skin colour. It’s not like we are trouble makers - we are mature, all dressed respectably and just wanted to go see a film.
‘It will just be seen as blatant racism. You have to admit that if it was done for any other celebration, like Christmas or anything, there would be uproar.
‘I also know about the festival, and it is supposed to be a festival of togetherness and welcoming - no one should be turned away. The only thing this is going to cause is problems in the communities.

Claim: Mr Jennings and his three friends were allegedly forced to turn around and go home unable to watch a film at the complex, because 'they did not look like they celebrated Eid'

‘Everyone I have spoken to about it is shocked that they could let this happen, and it seems to have happened to more people as well.’
Other people reported similar experiences yesterday - which marked the end of Ramadan, when Muslims fast for a month.
'Thinking back we should have fought our ground more but at the time we were just shocked at what had happened. [The security guy] said to us we didn't look like we were celebrating Eid'

Housing worker Emma Noakes said on Facebook: ‘My friend’s family have just been refused entry at Vue cinema as they are not Muslim - this is a shocking disgrace.
‘If the shoe was on the other foot there would be uproar. Can you imagine banning all Muslims to star city because it’s Christmas?’
A spokesman for Vue cinemas said: ‘We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused to our guests who tried to gain access to our Birmingham Star City cinema.

‘As a company we welcome customers from all religious and cultural backgrounds. We are investigating this directly with the Star City management team as a matter of urgency.’

Mark Wilson, centre manager at Star City said: ‘Star City is a family entertainment centre open to and enjoyed by all. Star City has enjoyed growing success in recent months and we have a proud record of community involvement.
‘Over the past few days Star City has been extremely busy and the volume of traffic has been very high, causing significant traffic congestion and delays in getting some visitors access into the centre.
‘During the busiest times some visitors have been turned away and there has been some disappointment for some, for which we apologise. However, there is simply no truth in the recent allegations - the nature of which have no place at Star City.’
The complex was formally opened in July 2000 by actors George Clooney and Mark Wahlberg to coincide with the UK premiere of The Perfect Storm.
With some 392,000 sq ft (36,400 m2) of leisure space, it is one of the UK’s largest leisure centres.

[h=1]Belgian doctor refuses treatment to Jewish patient[/h]07/31/2014 16:07

ANTWERP, Belgium – A Belgian physician who refused to treat a Jewish woman with a fractured rib suggested she visit Gaza to get rid of the pain.
The physician made the remark on Wednesday while manning a medical hotline in Flanders, Belgium’s Flemish region, whose capital, Antwerp, has a sizeable Orthodox Jewish population, the local Jewish monthly Joods Actueelreported Thursday.

The woman, Bertha Klein, had her son, who is American, call the hotline at 11 p.m.
“I’m not coming,” the doctor reportedly told the son and hung up. When the son called again, the doctor said: “Send her to Gaza for a few hours, then she’ll get rid of the pain.” According to Joods Actueel, the doctor confirmed the exchange, saying he had an “emotional reaction.”
Health ministry officials were looking into the incident, according to the monthly’s online edition. According to Joods Actueel, the doctor knew the patient was Jewish because of Klein’s son’s American accent.
The family called a friend, Samuel Markowitz, who is an alderman of the Antwerp district council and a volunteer paramedic. He called the doctor to confirm the exchange, and also recorded their conversation.
Hershy Taffel, Bertha Klein’s grandson, filed a complaint with police for discrimination.
“It reminds me of what happened in Europe 70 years ago,” Taffel told Joods Actueel. “I never thought those days would once again be repeated.”
Joods Actueel editor-in-chief Michael Freilich said the incident is particularly alarming because it comes amid a string of recent incidents which involved boycotts against Jews in Belgium since the start of Israel’s attack on Hamas in Gaza on July 8.
Since then, an Orthodox Jewish woman was refused service at a clothes store in Antwerp, and police removed a sign in French and Turkish from a café near Liege which said dogs were allowed but Zionists and Jews were not.

  • Told by judge to expect a 'substantial' jail sentence for her crimes

UPDATED: 21:07, 31 July 2014
A Muslim mother has been told to expect a 'substantial' prison sentence after encouraging terrorism in Syria over social media.
Runa Khan, 34, admitted posting a message on Facebook in September, saying: 'Sisters, if you love your sons, husbands and brothers, prove it by sending them to fight for Allah.'
Khan, a mother-of-six, also posted a a picture of a suicide vest on the site, alongside a message which read 'sacrifice your life to be in Islam' in July last year.

Runa Khan, 34 (right), a mother-of-six, has been told to expect a 'substantial' jail sentence after pleading guilty to posting messages on Facebook encouraging men to go and fight 'for Allah' in Syria

On September 13, she sent a series of messages on the social media site describing a path into Syria and the name of a group in the country to join.
Wearing a niqab while standing in the dock of Kingston Crown Court, Khan pleaded guilty to four counts of disseminating terrorist publications between July and September 2013.

Addressing the defendant, Judge Peter Birts QC said: 'I’m sure you have been advised they are charges of the utmost gravitas that almost inevitably will be met by a substantial custodial sentence.'
Judge Birts allowed Khan to wear a niqab in the dock after her barrister Jo Sidhu QC confirmed her identity.
The court heard Khan, from Luton, sent a series of Facebook messages to an undercover police officer describing a route from Turkey into Syria.

Kingston Crown Court, Surrey, heard that Khan posted the messages between July and September last year along with a picture of a suicide vest. She also posted details of a route into Syria from Turkey

She received details of the route from Mohammed Nahin Ahmed who has admitted spending eight months in Syria fighting alongside an Al Qaeda-linked terrorist group, the hearing was told.
Ahmed and childhood friend Yusuf Zubair Sarwar, both 22, from Birmingham, fled to the country last May after contacting Islamic extremists.
They each pleaded guilty to one count of engaging in preparation of terrorism acts at London’s Woolwich Crown Court earlier this month.

[h=1]Progressve American Muslims Find Faith While Challenging Taboos On Sexuality and Gender[/h] AP | By GILLIAN FLACCUS Posted: 08/03/2014 8:40 am EDT | Updated: 08/03/2014 8:59 am EDT

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Omar Akersim prays regularly and observes the dawn-to-dusk Ramadan fast. He is also openly gay.
Akersim, 26, is part of a small but growing number of American Muslims challenging the long-standing interpretations of Islam that defined their parents' world. They believe that one can be gay and Muslim; that the sexes can pray shoulder-to-shoulder; that females can preach and that Muslim women can marry outside the faith — and they point to Quran passages to back them up.
The shift comes as young American Muslims work to reshape the faith they grew up with so it fits better with their complex, dual identity, with one foot in the world of their parents' immigrant beliefs and one foot in the ever-shifting cultural landscape of America. The result has been a growing internal dialogue about what it means to be Muslim, as well as a scholarly effort to re-examine the Quran for new interpretations that challenge rules that had seemed set in stone.
"Islam in America is being forced to kind of change and to reevaluate its positions on things like homosexuality because of how we're moving forward culturally as a nation. It's striving to make itself seen and known in the cultural fabric and to do that, it does have to evolve," said Akersim, who leads a Los Angeles-based support group for gay Muslims. "Ten or 15 years ago, this would have been impossible."
The shift doesn't end with breaking obvious taboos, either. Young American Muslims are making forays into fashion, music (Islamic punk rock, anyone?) and stirring things up with unorthodox takes on staples of American pop culture. A recent controversial YouTube video, for example, shows Muslim hipsters — or "Mipsterz" — skateboarding in head scarves and skinny jeans as Jay-Z's "Somewhere in America" blasts in the background.
Nearly 40 percent of the estimated 2.75 million Muslims in the U.S. are American-born and the number is growing, with the Muslim population skewing younger than the U.S. population at large, according to a 2011 Pew Research Center survey.
Advocates for a more tolerant Islam say the constraints on interfaith marriage and homosexuality aren't in the Quran, but are based on conservative interpretations of Islamic law that have no place in the U.S. Historically, in many Muslim countries, there are instances of unsegregated prayers and interfaith marriage.
"I think it's fair to say the traditional Islam that we experienced excluded a lot of Muslims that were on the margins. I always felt not very welcomed by the type of Islam my parents practiced," said Tanzila Ahmed, 35, who published an anthology of love stories by Muslim American women in 2012 called "Love Inshallah."
Many second-generation American Muslims still practice their faith in traditional ways, but others are starting to see the Islam of their parents as more of a cultural identity, said Dr. Yvonne Haddad, a Georgetown University professor who has written extensively about Islam's integration into U.S. society.
As a result, there's a new emphasis on meeting for prayer and socializing in neutral spaces, such as community centers, instead of mosques, and on universal inclusion.
"Some of them still want a mosque, they still want to belong and to pray and others are shifting and they are very comfortable being non-religious," Haddad said. "These people feel that they can get rid of the hang-ups of what the culture has defined as Muslim and maintain the beliefs and values, the spiritual values, and feel very comfortable by shedding all the other restrictions that society has put on them."
In Los Angeles, a religious group called Muslims for Progressive Values has been pushing the boundaries with a female imam who performs same-sex and interfaith marriages, support groups for gay Muslims and a worship style that includes women giving sermons and men and women praying together. The group has chapters in half a dozen major U.S. cities and at least six foreign countries and last year was recognized by the United Nations as an official non-governmental organization.
Founder Ani Zonneveld, a Muslim singer and songwriter of Malaysian descent, started the group in 2007 after she recorded some Islamic pop music that generated a backlash because it featured a Muslim woman singing.
"For us, the interpretation of Islam is egalitarian values — and by egalitarian it's not just words that we speak. It's practice," she said. "It's freedom of religion and from religion, too."
Akersim, the gay Muslim, knows first-hand how hard this shift will be.
Last year, he fled his parents' home in the middle of the night after they called him at work and demanded to know when he was going to get married. He stays in touch with his mother, but hasn't spoken to his father in a year and a half.
Now, he avoids mosques but prays privately. He has no regrets about coming out, he said.
"All these struggles that I've had to endure have only brought me closer to God," Akersim said. "Within that storm, I feel like I've been able to persevere because of my faith, because of this strength from God."

The Dancing Boys of Afghanistan is a 2010 documentary film by Afghan journalist Najibullah Quraishi about the practice of Bacha bazi in Afghanistan. The 52-minutes documentary premiered in the UK at the Royal Society of Arts on March 29, 2010.[SUP][1][/SUP] It aired on PBS Frontline in the United States on April 20, 2010.
Bacha bazi, also known as bacchá (from the Persian bacheh بچه*), literally "playing with boys" in Persian and Afghani dialect, a form of sexual slavery and child prostitution[SUP][2][/SUP] in which prepubescent and adolescent boys are sold to wealthy or powerful men for entertainment and sexual activities. This business thrives in Afghanistan, where many men keep them as status symbols. The practice is illegal under Afghan law.[SUP][3][/SUP][SUP][4][/SUP]

"The practice is illegal under Afghan law, being "against both sharia law and the civil code",[SUP][9][/SUP] but the laws are seldom enforced against powerful offenders and police have been reportedly complicit in related crimes"

[h=1]Muslim Woman Offended by One Word on Restaurant’s Sign. Owners Take It Down. And the Word Was…[/h] Aug. 25, 2014 12:24am Dave Urbanski

In Winooski, Vermont, city officials like to involve local businesses in its efforts to keep flower beds healthy and thriving in town.
The deal is that if shops help with gardening, they can post advertisements for their services in those same spots, noted WPTZ-TV in Burlington.
So after Sneakers Bistro & Cafe kicked in for “Operation Bloom” at the bottom of the Winooski Circle, the restaurant put a bright yellow sign on a lamp post telling drivers to “Yield for Bacon” at Sneakers.

Soon a discussion about diversity was underway on the Winooski Front Porch Forum, highlighted by one woman who wrote that the sign was insensitive to those who don’t consume pork — and as a Muslim she’s offended by it, WPTZ reported.
Once the bistro owners found out about the complaint, they told the station they reached out to the woman and then took the sign down.
WPTZ added that the owners also said they regret any harm caused by the sign — and that their goal never was to cause stress or bad feelings.
Not that Winooski townsfolk harbored similar concerns.
“It’s nice that they were respectful enough to take it down,” area resident Caleb Wiley told WPTZ, “but I also think they shouldn’t have, or had to at any rate.”
A post on the Front Porch Forum insisted that the word “bacon” isn’t offensive, as it simply describes food.
Wiley was more direct: ”I respect her religion and her right to believe what she wants but I’m pretty sure the first amendment extends to bacon and the selling of it.”
Likewise comments on social media overwhelmingly hammered Sneakers owners for taking down the sign:

[ look how "nice" and "friendly" the Saudi's (our allies!) are!!!! It's also so great to hear all the "moderate" Muslims speaking out against ISIS. The fucking silence

[h=2]Saudi poll to reveal public’s level of sympathy for IS[/h] The Sakina Campaign plans to carry out a scientific survey to determine the position of the Saudi public on the “caliphate” announced by the Islamic State (IS) in Iraq and Syria. This comes after the results of an opinion poll of Saudis were released on social networking sites, claiming that 92% of the target group believes that “IS conforms to the values of Islam and Islamic law.” Observers believe that in the current period, it is most important to “focus on the roots of extremism and to address and fight it.”
The Saudi Sakina campaign plans to conduct a survey to determine the extent to which the Saudi public sympathizes with the Islamic State and its recent declaration of a caliphate.

Meanwhile, Saudi families refused to hold mourning gatherings for their sons who were killed in troubled places outside of the kingdom. The “confusion” that was sparked by IS’ recent expansion saw the proliferation of websites selling shirts carrying slogans that called for jihad and glorified IS. Advisory Committee member Sheikh Abdullah al-Suwailem refused to classify those affiliated with terrorist groups as “criminals,” claiming that pressure had led them to join these groups in the absence of guidance.
Some of the families of those killed fighting outside of Saudi Arabia expressed their “joy,” refusing to show grief over the deaths of their sons. Preachers and sheikhs considered this ideology “the reason for terrorism,” saying, “It harms the reputation of the Islamic religion.” They stressed that those who go to these places of conflict are in violation of the religious authority, which must be followed. They therefore concluded that their deaths are not a form of martyrdom, as their families think. The families are overcome with emotion and distribute sweets and refuse to mourn, show sadness or cry, considering those killed to be martyrs.
Abdul Moneim al-Mushawwah, the director of the Sakina Campaign, which operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Da’wah and Guidance in Saudi Arabia, told Al-Hayat: “In the coming period, the campaign plans to work on a manual survey, through which we can determine the extent to which the Saudi public sympathizes with what happened recently in Iraq, namely the declaration of the caliphate.” He added: “This survey will target a specific segment in a particular time period, ranging between one and two months. It will be supervised by an academic to meet the required conditions.”
In a related context, Sheikh Abdullah al-Suwailem, another Advisory Committee member, refused to classify those affiliated with terrorist groups such as IS and Jahbat al-Nusra as criminals. Suwailem told Al-Hayat: “The youth are languishing under various pressures, including some that are legitimate and brave. And excess and pressure are realities experienced by the youth, with little direction.” He added: “We do not classify the youth affiliated with these groups as criminals. If we do this, we prejudice them and make them our adversaries.”
“We must confront arguments with arguments, evidence with evidence. [We should] provide our youth with correct guidance, not criminalize them, so as to not further inflame the issue,” he noted.
On the other hand, shirts with phrases calling for jihad and photos glorifying IS and extremist currents and calling for fighting were promoted on Internet sites and on the social media pages of terrorist organizations. The spokesman for Saudi customs, Issa al-Issa, said: “The importation of clothing requires a commercial registration that lists the activity of clothing trade. As for controls on clothing imports, [any imports] must conform to adopted standards. The customs authority takes a sample and sends it to registered laboratories to report on the extent to which it complies with specifications. Another stipulation is that [the clothing] does not have inappropriate phrases or images that contradict Islamic law.”
