Reno your naivete on issues of that part of the globe is to the nth power. What common enemy is the US giving to whom to hate? The US is not the originator of trouble in this region. Maybe the US should not be involved but that's a different issue. Anyway your point there is nebulous, so restate it if you can.
But most importantly and I know I've written this before: You cannot assign Western values and logic and 21st century vision to a 7th century fanatical cult. In other words do not expect crazy people to reason like you and I. If you don't know what I mean go up two posts. Iran is led by sick, barbaric religious fanatics that murder their own subjects by the thousands. What qualms would they have about attacking a Jewish nation, one that they foment hate and lies about on a daily basis?
The Iranian clerics don't care about this life, only the next. It is their duty and decree to eradicate the Jews, and all Western life. In their impenetrable and deluded minds that's how you get to heaven.
These people are so stupid they don't even realize that their religion never comes into being without Judaism preceding it. Anyway, good luck convincing future martyrs that all human life is valuable, while they cut off hands and feet and stone people one day and boil them in oil the next.
These aren't my own words but this pretty much describes my feelings. I don't see them evolving as a people. As long as we're there threatening, bombing, and forcing our ideas, they'll flock to the idiots that want to keep their them safe and control them.
“This is pretty much the standard claim that anyone makes in regards to Islam & world domination -specifically domination of the United States.
Let's take a look at it a little more carefully, though...
The fundamentalist's translation of Islam- via the Qu'ran requires that its adherents kill non-Muslims & follow Sha'ria.
The Qu'ran also says that non-conforming Muslims should be treated the same way.
That means that since the inception of Islam as a religion there have been people who practiced the faith in a manner calling for their persecution by the hardliners.
At least it has been established that there have ALWAYS been moderate Muslims.
There are verbatim translations from the old & new Testaments that would require their followers to do some pretty barbaric things as well, but none of those things are perceived as being representative of the mainstream of Judaism or Christianity.
That is because both of those religions have gone through reformation period that Islam has yet to.
Remember, Islam is around 700 years younger than Christianity; if we were to travel back 700 years "Christians" would have been doing some pretty crazy things in the name of the cross.
Just go back a few hundred years to the Salem witch trials & so on...
Really, should we "fear" Islam here in America?
Muslims currently represent fewer than 2% of our population.
Even if one day they were to achieve a plurality in our demographics, the foothold of Sha'ria law could not happen unless the US Constitution & the protections of the Bill Of Rights disappeared...
So the fear of Islam from within is unfounded...
What about the threat from an Islamic State abroad?
Let's see...
We have been propping up dictators & meddling in the internal affairs of States in that region for the past 70 years.
When was the last time an Islamic nation had an army that could reach the Strait of Gibraltar or the Atlantic Ocean?
Our current boogeyman - Iran, is surrounded by nuclear powers; do you actually think that they could just go about attacking everyone with impunity?
What about the Islamic nuclear power - Pakistan?
Shouldn't they be waging nuclear jihad against all non-believers by now?
The irrational fear of Islam is just a ploy sowed by those who want to keep our defense spending at full throttle (more than the rest of the world combined) & that is impossible without a boogeyman/threat.
Is fundamentalist Islam backwards & archaic?
Yes.
Is it something we should fear?
No, not if we are going to maintain our liberty & set a true example of how peace can be achieved by living up to our purported standards & morals.” by Dayne Herr Jr.
